I was prescrbed metoprolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg. I have been taking this medine for a year. I have been regularly checking my BP ever since. It comes to 130/75mm/hg within a month. But Still I am taking the same dosage.
My worry is : Is metoprolol and amlodipine safe to take?Since I am 38 only what would be its long term effects. That is taking the drug for over 30 years? Finally whether the dosage may be changed? Please help.
My husband usually sacrifices "his orgasm" because the pain afterwards is very bad. Its not in his genital area. It seems like a bad head rush. He must stand up immediately, tilts head backwards as if looking at the ceiling. Then after about 1-2 min of this, he must lie down because he gets sharp pains in arm,shoulder & neck area. He takes bisoprolol hctz 5mg/6.25 and amlodipine 5 mg for high blood pressure. He has had his heart checked(they ran the dye) and no blockage.
My long time meds are for blood pressure... Amlodipine 5mg and lisinopril/HCTZ 20/25mg. Oh and lamotrigine 50 mg for the last two weeks. I quit heavy drinking a about 8 days ago reneeding hospitalization fot 4 days due to extreme withdrawal. Anyway as of today I'm noticing definite noticeable hand tremors. I'm wondering if it's from my combination of meds?
s then it took off. Out of Control. I was on 20mg Lisinopril and 5mg Amlodipine. It was pretty devastating for me as I've always been in top athletic condition and all my lab results were picture perfect. You might want to start on a DASH diet or if you're feeling highly motivated as I was go Vegan and eliminate meat, dairy and oils. I was able to wean off my meds in 6 months and now maintain a BP around 115/65.
I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and take medication for that along with amlodipine besylate, 5 mg. anymore than that and my ankles swell up. I also take 12.5 mg atenolol and anymore than that and it causes palpitations. I also take Atacand 16 mg. and Clonidine, 0.1 mg. I don't know why my blood pressure can't be controlled either. It is frustrating to go to the doctor hoping to get some good numbers but I never do. As for your BP being 156/66, that is fantastic!
5 mg of Metoprolol and 10 mg Amlodipine for about 3 months. I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol.
I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high.
On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat. I don't have sweat pouring down my face and into my eyes as much as I did, and my clothes don't become as wet.
7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100. After an office visit today she ordered hydralazine be added to my growing list of meds.
I used HCTZ for 10 years to control my blood calcium. Last year, I got one morning and my heart rate when up to 128. My endo took me off HCTZ and my internal put me on Lopressor. I contued having a high heart rate after HCTZ was out of my system. This year, I was put back on HCTZ due to high urine calcium content but I could not tolerate the drug at all. Even though I was taking Lopressor, I had several instances where my heart went crazy and the beat shot up to 128-146.
m 22 male I play basketball on Tuesdays and go to the gym and walk jog tread meal 3o mins a day and 10 mins on the bike at the gym and lift lightly occasionally as well...and I really have no bad symptoms other than freakibg out a lil cause it feels like its beating too slow?? Advice please? Seen Doc today he said with no symptoms and how young I am "22 now" they don't do anything. Worried some about it...
The cardio added Rythmonorm 150mg (propafenone) and amlodipine 5mg to my Coreg 12.5 and Crestor 10mg. I have the odd burst of systolic in the 150's and, rarely. diastolic 69 or once 70.but no doc reacts.I may mention that I have the good fortune to look well but I feel two cardios I have seen think I'm malingering because of it. One said no more than two out of ten 86-years-olds are anyhting like you.
I am taking Losartan HCTZ 25 mgs and just added is Amlodipine 25 mg. I have been taken medication since Aug 012 with little success. I am very stressed and just started with a counselor to help with with tramatic experiences that I have gone through as a child and stress as an adult.
I have never used a salt shaker, I've never smoked or ever drank alcohol. I'm 44 and I do not really eat healthy although I try and am not as active as I should be. I am 5'2" and weigh 205lbs.
I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?

I was on HCTZ for awhile, and I was having similar issues. I don't know if it was chest pain exactly, but I was having some chest-related issues. Turns out HCTZ was causing my potassium levels to drop. Spoke to the dr, got off the HCTZ, and felt better. Sometimes the diuretics take out a little too much.
Hello my name is Mike I have hypertension bp runs around 220/140 with hr 100-140, I am on Amlodipine 5mg, Lebetalol 600mg 2x daily HCTZ 25mg, Losartan 100mg, and my dr started me on nitro patch to help will the chest pain I am getting, I did have a cath study but everything came back normal. What would be causing my chest pain?
I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
