Common Questions and Answers about Allergies pregnancy babies

allergies

Avatar f tn I had a pediatrician Once Tell me that babies are not born with allergies. He said that allergies are acquired over time. It may be a short amount of time or years but he said that they are not born with allergies. Not sure why and sorry I don't have the why/proof. That's just what my first baby's pediatrician told me about 4 years ago. I know babies can be sensitive to certain things we mommies consume while they are in the womb. Do you have a concern with your baby?
Avatar f tn 4 yrs ago when I was pregnant with my daughter research was saying not to eat nuts bcuz after birth children are more likely to develop allergies. This pregnancy more studies have been done & now they are saying the opposite. Babies that were exposed to nuts in the womb were less likely to develop allergies. I say in moderation it should be fine.

571042 tn?1271447141 Do any of your babies have allergies to food? I don't know what to look for. I know the dramatic symptoms of airway constriction etc but I don't know any of the minor ones. Blake gets rashes occasionally from colognes from her daddy hugging her but they go away within a few minutes so I am never too concerned I just keep an eye on it. Blake does have an issue with formula. :( She has to be on soy formula because milk based formula gives her awful gas and diarrhea.

1839630 tn?1346513783 I am 23 weeks tomorrow and my allergies are making me miserable. the list of drugs my dr gave me says it is ok to take benedryl and claritin but i feel like anything that has bad side effects on me will have similar ones on the baby. Avatar f tn Hi! Congratulations! If you were my patient, I would advise you to take the absolute minimum medication that you can get away with during the first trimester especially. BUT having said that, Allegra is pregnancy category C which means that it CAN be used in pregnancy if the benefits out weigh the risks. Hope this helps!
