Aldara doesn't work

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara doesn't work

aldara

Avatar m tn the general surgeon looked at it about 3-4 weeks ago and said i will need surgery so he set the date and everything but i hope i wont need it if aldara continues to work. the doc was going to remove them by cauterization.
Avatar m tn Just started a treatment of Aldara today. I always seem to have a few small genital warts on me. Does anyone know what I can expect. I am 31 and healthy in every way. I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ?
Avatar n tn I have had genital warts for 5 years now and ive been using aldara for quite some time. aldara seems to work pretty well for the most part. while using aldara frequeantly i would experience some side effects like some pain or swelling after using it for a long period of time. i would stop the use and the redness/ swelling would go away and i would contine use and everything would be okay.
Avatar f tn So I found out last week that I have HPV (low-risk with genital warts). I'm really depressed, it feels like its the end of the world! My whole life I have practiced safe sex (except with my bf who I've been with for 2 years) and I have gotten yearly pap tests that came out normal. I really thought I was a healthy person until these bumps showed up! The doctor prescribed me Aldara cream and I just started using it last week, she said it can take up to 8-16 weeks for the warts to go away.
Avatar n tn I have recently been using Aldara cream to try and eliminate my genital warts (HPV). Although the warts minimised in size after three months my doctor told me to stop using aldara because of the ineffectiveness and incredible sores and lesions that i endured whilst treatment. He reccomended me to a dermatologist for the treatment of the HPV.
Avatar m tn If I have your attention I'm assuming you have used Aldara or are planning on using it. I was finally prescribed Aldara after a few nitro treatments (some say it doesnt hurt, but I say it hurts horriblely). I have only used it for three applications and I have seen zero effects - as if I had never started using it. I have read that Aldara doesn't work for everyone, especially males... but I would like to know if anybody has had any success stories without unpleasent side effects?
1306047 tn?1333243591 Greetings, I don't come around here much any more, but two/three years ago I was quite active on this forum. Recently I may have had another outbreak after 2 1/2 years without. Doctor gave me Aldara. Thought I'd pass my thoughts along. I've had warts burned off with nitrogen and cauterized as well. Aldara doesn't seem to be an alternative to me. First, you have to apply three nights a week for three months.
Avatar m tn A lot of people don't feel anything with aldara, feeling irratation doesn't necessarily mean its begining to work
Avatar m tn I had unprotected vaginal sexual intercouse with a female on several separate occasions. Exactly three weeks following the last sexual episode, I notice what appeared to be a reddish looking mole on the right side of my right testicle. It was not painful nor did it itch. My physician gave me aldara samples "out of an abundance of caution," although he did not believe it was anything to worry about. He specifically stated that he did not think it was herpes.
Avatar m tn So, unfortunately I was diagnosed with genital warts a little over a month ago. I thought at first the warts were just right outside of my vagina, but after inspection, I'm realizing that I think there are some inside... not substantial though. I'm EXTEMELY PARANOID THOUGH. I was perscribed Aldara Cream for my external warts. I dont feel like they are spreading but I'm really not seeing much improvement with the warts.... Honestly I'm not really sure what to expect........
Avatar m tn my mother 75 years used Aldara on a carcinome, after 2 weeks she feels very side effect including convulsions.she died. What i can tell is that before using Aldara she feels very well. Maybee Aldara works for some people, but for the other it could be really dangerous .
Avatar m tn I'm using aldara right now too, I am a female but my skin has started burning and bleeding too, I talked to my doctor and he said it's normal.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. Your dermatologist has much more experience using imiquimod (Aldara) than I do. We don't use it as the main warts treatment in our STD clinic and I have personally treated very few patients with it. Please confirm my replies with your dermatologist. 1) The research studies with imiquimod applied it only to overt, visible warts.
Avatar m tn I dont know if anyone saw my post last nite, but need to know if there is anything I can do myself to get rid of them, like freeze off from pharmacy? aldara didnt work. cant find my question from last nite, not sure if I even know how to use this site...
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Aldara by my gynecologist for a recurrent bout of genital warts in the vulva area that I've also received TCA treatment for. I started applying the Aldara last week and must have applied too liberally and/or left on too long. After only 2 treatments had severe flu-like symptoms, swelling, burning, painful urination, and worsening pain. Had to call gynecologist over weekend and she recommended I come in today if pain had gotten worse.
Avatar n tn I just found out I had HPV yesterday and had my warts frozen and was given aldara to use in two days time. My question was, when would it be ok to masturbate again, and when would it be ok to have sex again?
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I have 4 growths 2 larger and 2 smaller, she ruled out Herpes and was left believing it was either Molluscum or Gential Warts. She prescribed Aldara to me and I have been using it for the past 3 weeks which have made the bumps much smaller. I was also tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, both tested negative. Sround the same time I had a medium to light grayish discharge that had a fishy odor especially after I showered. I've had no pain in this time.
Avatar f tn What do your warts look like?! My gyno always tells me mine on the labia majora are not warts... Aldara doesn't help these ones, it just irritates them it seems. My gyno said the ones the aldara did help could have been skin tags because they went away so quickly and aldara is a strong skin cream used for various conditions...
Avatar f tn Welcome to the STD forum. Sorry to hear your difficulties and uncertainties about your genital warts. Try not to let it get you down; this won't go on indefinitely and all will be well. And congratulations on starting Gardasil. Warts are not especially common in the vagina, except on the cervix. If visible warts haven't appeared in those locations by now, most likely they will not. Any additional warts that you develop will not be from re-catching the virus from your partner.
Avatar m tn m a male). I was prescribed ALDARA cream for it. I left the cream on for too long the first week and it felt reallly irritated. I learned later your supposed to wash it off in the morning. After the first week I developed another problem and I wonder if it has something to do with ALDARA. I feel like I have to pee ALL the time. after I go to the bathroom I feel like I have to run back in! It makes my job horrible.
Avatar f tn hi, i like to now how i can clean mi vagina from this condition call vestibular papilae. i dont like how look, and i fel so depress. pls i use aldara but dont work for.. pls help...

Avatar f tn Now my gyn is telling me that, in order to get rid of any other traces of hpv, we should apply Aldara cream on the cervix. I am having serious doubts about this procedure and I would be most grateful if you gave me a specialized advice: is it ok to use it? Can it actually heal hpv? Thank you in advance for your answers!
Avatar n tn I just wanted to submit an errata. I said "Nitro freezing was absolutely PAINFUL...". But I meant to say "Nitro freezing was absolutely PAINLESS...". The only reason the Doctor recommended aldara was because I just had one very very very small wart that he wasn't even sure was from HPV and it was too small for a gun. I would not prefer any chemical in comparison to nitro freezing unless nitro freezing doesn't work at all for you.
