Abilify dosage depression

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify dosage depression

abilify

Avatar n tn when i hear that someone at this age is having BP I get depressed myself because I don't believe it. SURE pdocs dx him and we should respect their view as they are supposed to be the only expertise. But at this age the body keeps changing hormonal wise and the brain is still in its infancy. The reason why he prescribed lamictal and abilify is that both help in depression. But i would consult another pdoc. Why didn't you try psychotherapy first CBT, etc..
Avatar f tn After years of continued difficulty with bouts of depression, anger/irritability, sleep, I saw a new doctor in 2015 who prescribed Abilify 5mg along with Adderall. He mentioned that he thought I continued to have issues because of the Prozac but did not officially give me a diagnosis. I immediately saw the benefits. However, at the end of 2016 I went through a severe bout of depression and discontinued the Abilify.
Avatar f tn I just found out a friend has been on the medicine venlafaxine for the highest dosage and his psychiatrist put him on abilify too recently. What does this imply? He has schizophrenia? He's a psycho? Any thought would be appreciated!
697574 tn?1273955747 I have been through some really serious depression along with Fibromyalgia, CFS, Chronic Migraines, etc. For my depression I take 100 mg of Pristiq and 2 mg of Abilify. The Pristiq didn't work that greay by its self, but when he added the Abilify, it really made a difference. I take Ambien on the nights when I can't sleep and that helps me even more whith being able to wake up in the morning . I also am in therapy...
Avatar f tn hello, i was put on abilify after falling into a severe depression when my father passed away. within a few days i could feel the depression lift and did ok for a few months. then i crashed into another depression for no real reason. increasing the dose did'nt help.i was taken off and put on wellbutrion and seroquel and decreased the lexapro to 10mgs. i'm feeling somewhat better. but i don't like the seroquel. and really don't know why i was put on it.
1806584 tn?1316208037 Well good luck to you, but as far as I know Lamotrigine is only to treat the depression. Glad you got off the abilify sucessfully....because some of those meds can give you withdraw symptoms.
Avatar f tn Since for us driven manic by AD, if you beat depression without an AD then no more depression for start the first face of the coin, and by not taking an AD then no second face too i.e. no mania. So by not having neither depression nor mania then no BP. Simple. I also demanded from the forum to start looking for an AD that doesn't bring mania. Although nobody came to rescue me by suggesting one, i tried in the meantime lexapro/cipralex, seroxat/paxil/ some tricyclics, stablon/coaxil etc..
574118 tn?1305135284 my depression is usually not severe, still i can't function without an antidepressant. Thus the dilemma --> manic --> antipsychotics --> lethargic --> antidepressant ... i.e. the usual My meds are the least dosage: 1mg risperidone, 25mg seroquel, 12.5mg stablon (AD) but it's the instability that suffocates me. So if I can find some supplement adjunct to my AD then i can lessen my dosage of AD which in fact i tried it once and found myself doing well but my energy was low.
Avatar f tn The down side is my depression is now back in full force. I can tell you this my choice is depression over TN pain, if you ever expirenced TN pain you know what i mean. So now I'm wondering if for some of us antidepressants somehow screw up the nervous system? It took about three weeks after stopping meds for the spasms to stop, hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I have had depression for 20 years, and know I must stay on medication for the rest of my life. I am 69 so not so bad, for a younger person it must be a worry. Obviously you have to stay on an anti-depressant until you feel you are well enough to stop. I have stopped 3 times, but for me, the depression always comes back. You have to decide what is best for you. It is known that depression does often return. Try stopping, if you feel you want to, and see how you go. Only you can decide.
526901 tn?1216334227 This is provided Abilify helps you, if not, I would see about switching too. Geodon is in the family with Abilify and it works fast too, like within a couple weeks. Just a suggestion. Good Luck, I know how frustrating it is finding the right medication. I've been on over 47 kinds of meds over the last 10 years. Cymbalta was another one that helped my panic attacks, I went on that after being on Prozac for 8 or 9 years. It works faster than Prozac but slower than celexa & lexapro.
574118 tn?1305135284 My information is that all are given to prevent mania and reduce dopamine responsible for psychosis. Yet seroquel especially is given for depression too this is why it works as a mood stabilizer. Some say all atypical are the same but seroquel seems to be different from readings and at least it works for me. My combo is 75 seroquel + 1 risperidone + 1 stelazin (typical AP). It's weird and crazy usually one AP is enough.
Avatar f tn My wife has had a head ache since January. The Dr. took her off of abilify because of muscle movement that would not stop [dti] Abilify has these effects on the side ,can the headaches be caused by being off this medicine.
Avatar f tn Inquire about halving the Abilify dosage. Additionally, Xanax is not indicated for long-term use. The drug tends to lose its efficacy over the long-term, particularly at higher dosages.
Avatar f tn I meant 20mg Prozac. Did not suit me at all. I was put on Propranolol during a very bad bout od deep depression, but I could not stand the side effects, and stopped that too. Can't remember the dosage. Perhaps a higher dose will help you. I think anything worth trying to get relief. However, some medications help some people, and not others. Keep in touch and tell us how you get on. Sorry I am no help.
1221258 tn?1267542429 I've just had Abilify added to my cocktail of Lamictal and Clonazepam, hoping that it is going to lift me out of the current depression. Basic not wanting to get off the couch, go out, brush my teeth, talk on the phone, get out of my nightgown, and feelings of hopelessness. ( standard depression stuff ) Just, this has gone on a long, long time. I only get up, bathed and dressed if I have an appointment out of the house. Otherwise, it's me and the dog. That's it.
873773 tn?1257560602 I went to the doctors yesterday he wants me to start Abilify? Does anyone know anything about this medication good or bad? He also wants me to Up my Klonopin to 4mg 's a day . He said if he were to change me to adavin he would have to put me on such a high dosage as much as 12mg? Does this seem right i am seriously thinking my doctors nutts :( Everytime i went to the Emergancy room after my dad passed i was given a shot 2mg;s of adavin it calmed me down so i could think ..
574118 tn?1305135284 s available where you are, Latuda (lurasidone) just got approval for bipolar depression. It might be too expensive, though. Also, have you tried lamotrigine? Abilify is another good suggestion.
Avatar f tn I took 10 months to withdraw the next time, as I had to go back on to Effexor because my depression returned. I had no withdrawals at all that time. 9 months later I do not have depression, but anxiety is coming back. The advice on Effexor withdrawal is always take it very slowly, as the withdrawals are very bad. It is not an evil drug, as you say, because I and many people have benefitted from it. What is not good is the stopping of it.
603543 tn?1255294450 Should i continue on abilify 2mg and see if the side effects go away, waking up with a headache, tiredness, agitation, and sleeping by 8pm, but then wake up a lot during the night, or should i just taper off and stick with effexor 37.5mg and therapy?? Im really good emotionally and anxiety wise, I just feel physically sick all the time...
