Avatar n tn I am setting my fitness pal goals to help keep track of my diet. Trying to figure out calorie/carb/fat/protein ratio. For someone pre-diabetic/possibly type 2. I am 5'4 195 lbs. I have it set for 1200 cal 25%carb 30%fat 45%protein. I have had blood sugar issues but haven't been sticking with the program. I have been feeling crappy lately so I started tracking sugars again and it's not so great. I plan to got to the Dr. next week to have my a1c1 checked. It's been a while.
Avatar f tn According go my son you have to practically plan your meals for the whole days. Because when he cut back on calories he quit losing weight. I know how you feel I don't ess eat that much either. I'm also diabetic and I thought all this good I would end up in diabetic coma. Actually though I have gone from five shots a day to two. I haven't been on it long enough to lose any weight bit he lost 15lbs in a month plus he worked out a couple days a week.good luck.
1720613 tn?1309432604 It's in your best interest when you follow your doctors instructions. Proper nutrition means to accentuate the positive when it comes to food. I dislike the word diet. “Diet” implies a rigorous, self-sacrificial discipline that’s doomed to fail. Instead, focus on achieving food goals of what you should eat each day rather than what you shouldn’t eat.
Avatar n tn last year i was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian disease. i need help in managing my diet plan. i daily do cycling (static) for 10 min. please help me.
Avatar n tn The diabetic diet works great for me. I have lost 7 lbs! see every 15 carbs = 1 net carb. for breakfast you can have 2 to 3 net carbs, lunch 3 to 4 net carbs, and for dinner 4 to 5 net carbs. Of course i ususally only have 3 to 4 for lunch and 3 to 4 for dinner. They have put me on a 1800 calorie diet, but i ususally only eat around 1200, but only because im just not that hungry. Also you are supposed to eat about every 4 hours. so for snack you can have 1 to 2 net carbs.
Avatar f tn Do not eat only 500 calories a day, that is extremley unhealthy. Look for a new diet. Do not starve yourself. Eating 1200 is what I would recomend. It's high enough that you can still eat three meals a day, but not low enough that you're starving yourself from nutrients that you need.
Avatar f tn Kind of like a diabetic diet. Its a little bit of a strain on your sweet tooth and you will notice there are carbs in everything buttry looking up a diabetic diet and eat a little more meat thanusual preferably turkey bacon or turkey products and chicken and you will do better.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn I have been diabetic for 15 years. I have never been on a diabetic diet. I would like to know what I can eat, like how many carbs, fat, fruit, etc. Please help.

219363 tn?1189755821 I am dieting and exercising not only to feel better, but also to lose weight. I have done a very strict low calorie diet with 1200-1500 calories, and exercise everyday. I might lose 1 lb in 3-4 weeks that way. I have recently started a low carbohydrate diet with calories maybe 1500-1800 daily and 20 carbs maximum. My intake consists of vegetables, lean beef, chicken, pork and fish. I also eat eggs and 4 oz of cheese daily. I am losing weight on this plan.

She changed my meds to glyburide n my levels r now between 40-100, depending on what i eat. When i was diagnosed i was a size 22 n weighed 195. I'm currently down to a 16 n my weight is 171. I'm 13+5 n I've been seeing my doc weekly since 5wks. I also test at least 4x a day.
Avatar f tn Woww, you lucky to have found out this early in your pregnancy. I've had gestational diabettes, basically you need to take extra care of yourself and your eating habits. otherwise, not only will you feel real bad, your baby will suffer for it. Call your treating hospital and they will provide you with education on the subject. You can also google for more information.
733939 tn?1231773355 The doctor started you off with oral metformin and a diet plan for a good reason; to see if you listen to instructions. Failure to do so leads to insulin as the last resort. It's not hard to manage your diabetes but it does requires a lifestyle change. You have to rid yourself of all those old bad habits if you wish to be well. Good luck.
443878 tn?1205103196 I gained 90 pounds when I was pregnant, got gestational diabetes, turned into type II diabetes after I gave birth. I have tried every diet imaginable, and have not been able to lose much weight at all. I lost a few pounds when I started metformin medication, but have now stabilized again.
3252948 tn?1359923842 Been eating lots of fish, salads and some fruit and nuts, but it has been tough getting used to this new diet plan, and I will have to do this for the rest of my life if I want to stay off of meds.

I have an appointment to see a nutritionist next week. Not sure of what questions to ask. My goals are to control my blood sugar, improve health, lose weight. Any advice.
