zyvox

Avatar f tn I was hospitalized in January for an infected port a cath (pseudomonas) which turned into sepsis. I picked up VRE while in the hospital which was treated with 14 days of IV Zyvox. The VRE came back, in my urine, and I was hospitalized again last week and put back on Zyvox (oral this time). I am also on IV clindamycin and azithromycin, and a long list of other medications. While in the hospital they did daily blood work, of course, and my results have gotten progressively worse.
306245 tn?1244384967 s 2, something with his large intestine where the doctors thought it would rupture(dad refused surgery) he was septic from a UTI something about VRE from the UTI. and he has pleural effusions and one is encapsulated. he keeps running a low fever (they say it due to fluid restrictions he dehydrated) Now to repeart the real issue he keeps coming back with a positive UTI and can't come of VRE precautions.
663428 tn?1225662414 ” That being said, I cannot give you an exact percentage of risk but I can tell you that the risk for HIV, Hep C, MRSA, VRE is extremely low in the situation that you describe. Regarding bacterial (MRSA, VRE), if you were exposed to one of these agents, I would expect that you would have signs and symptoms of an infection (erythema [redness] at the site of exposure, fever, chills, etc). Did your arm have open active cuts, abrasions, or breaks in the skin and that.
Avatar m tn I took an MAOI for over 20 years with no problems. It was the best anti-d for me and I tried a lot of them over the years. I was careful over possible interactions but never ran into conflicts. If you can improve with the current anti-d's then your better off but if you can't it's well worth the try. After all most of the many new anti-d's out there don't do anything much different then these do.
Avatar f tn My 15 yr old son had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis 6 times. He contracted a deep wound mrsa infection which resulted in 10 weeks of Zyvox along with drainage: his symptoms returned immediately when the antibiotics were finished. This resulted in 2 debridement surgeries where all the hardware was removed. He was on 6 weeks of IV Vanco and Rifampin which seem to end the infection.
Avatar f tn My sister's son had a liver transplant about a month ago,and with some crisis he was doing well.A couple a days ago they started feeding him with baby food, but a problem apeard, body started refusig the organ. The doctors said that the reason for that can be baby food, because intestines can't keep and process the needed level of Prograf and because of that occurs rejection. Is this posible to happen because of the feeding?

Avatar n tn the cultures and urine showed Staphylococcus epidermidis which was treated with success with vanc and zyvox. i know S. epi. is a common skin flora but i am confused as to how i was infected. Any insight?
Avatar f tn On this sore, apply topical antibiotic cream like Neosporin and you may need oral antibiotics. Wear cotton clothes and use mild soaps like Dove. Take oral antihistaminic for the itching. Also if it persists then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn I work in healthcare and was emptying a patient's foley who was on contact for Mrsa in the urine and blood, vre and c-diff. While emptying her foley I felt something wet go in my eye not alot but right above and fall down. I quickly finished and then rinised my eye. While getting ready to leave the coworker then shooked the patients blanket in my face! I advised my supervisor and saw an urgent care Dr.
Avatar m tn I am looking for someone who will take a whole body donation that has Hep - C, so far I am being told No everywhere I am turning.
Avatar f tn t any infection going. Matter of fact, they were getting a pre-authorization ready to go for Zyvox.... Amazing, no infection, but I was going to get a antibotic? Just don't understand. Anyways, long story short, the second ortho suggested that I did not pick the Zyvox up - didn't need it. I go back to see the second ortho surgeon on Tuesday and will request a nasal mucous culture just for gp's. So, I guess the nasal swab is the tell tell if you are a MRSA carrier correct?
Avatar n tn My husband and son have not exhibited any skin conditions-just me. I have taken your advice and went to an infectious disease specialist. He has taken some cultures and has already put me on a new antibiotic called Zyvox. If the antibiotics doesn't clear the condition-I have considered looking for a new home for the dog. Thanks for your advice. I will see what the cultures suggest. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Good afternoon and thank you to anyone/everyone whoever takes the time to read and respond to posts like this. It's so appreciated and provides much comfort to those of us who are really struggling without a place to turn. Sadly, I've been suffering for 7, coming up to 8 months. Back in December of last year, I ended up holding my bladder far, far longer than I should've.
1070570 tn?1283436213 I haven't had the exact situation like you're talking about but I would think *normally* a GI specialist would put you on a powerful antibiotic that's not absorbed easily into the bloodstream like Flagyl for example. That's usually used for infections in stool, colon but each bug has it's own special antibiotic that is more effective than others. If you have ALL those (holy smokes..
Avatar m tn From what I found on Google it is not a STD. Try to goole it for more info.

367994 tn?1304953593 Thanks so much for your quick response, after reading some of your comments to others, I said, hmmm, Ken seems like the right guy to target, and would probably be the right candidate for my barrage.,.again, thanks so much for your time.
Avatar f tn If you are hitting the streets for heroin, then maybe you need to be talking to a counsellor as well. I have chronic pain and at times it makes my life miserable, however, some how the idea of using street meds for relief doesn't sound like a good idea. You need to talk frankly to you MD's. Tell them about withdrawals and they will help you with that as well. Good luck with the knee- Waiting for 3rd knee revision on same knee.
Avatar m tn Now I have been here another 6 days (total of 12 days sick) and have been on about 3 different IV antibiotics from Zyvox, Zosyn, to Levaquin and am on breathing treatments. Now both x-rays and CT scans are showing it has spread to both of my lungs and has gotten much worse. I also now have a horrible cough. My white blood cell count has remained normal and are not elevated, which indicates my immune system is not responding and Dr's can't explain why.
Avatar m tn Sir, I am surprised that an ENT was not consulted even prior to this point. I have the exact same condition with these differences. Moving from a light to dark area is an additional trigger and I have severe tinnitus which changes prior to an event (from mostly high pitch ringing to additional low frequency noise...like the sound of a helicopter). For me I have had all the medication, VRE, C-Scan, MRI, and every test known.
Avatar m tn m not sure if that is from my sweat in the area and the rash combining or what. This was the first time I had sex in two years. I am taking Zyvox for an unrelated symptom and have been taking it since 4/20/09. I'm not sure if this would be a reaction to that medication. I went to the doctor yesterday and he looked at my penis briefly and prescribed me Cipro and said it should go away in a few days and to see him again if it didn't. What's your take on the matter.
1872456 tn?1320302661 At first doctors gave me antibiotics (cipro, bactrum, levequin etc) to take at home which worked for a few years. But now, because I have pretty much grown up on these antibiotics, I've become resistant to them. Which means if I feel an infection coming on I pretty much have to go to the hospital to get IV antibiotics...which I don't mind really because the infections hurt and the pain meds help a lot.
Avatar f tn I have a very bad feeling about this..any light you can shed on this will help...I am hoping for the best but preparing for the worst...
