I have Lyme, Bartonella, Babesiosis, RA, and a list of other health conditions. I was hospitalized in January for an infected port a cath (pseudomonas) which turned into sepsis. I picked up VRE while in the hospital which was treated with 14 days of IV Zyvox. The VRE came back, in my urine, and I was hospitalized again last week and put back on Zyvox (oral this time). I am also on IV clindamycin and azithromycin, and a long list of other medications.
We were at our local Childrens hospital last night to have a very large one drained. She was on Zyvox during Thanksgiving and we were free of abscesses for 3 weeks. That is the longest she has gone without having one. We have seen an Infectious Disease doctor that doesn't offer us much hope in getting these to go away.
What is the best Channel Blocker to take if you have COPD. I was on prinivil 20 mg (alpha) and new Doctor had fit and put me on Verapasimil 80 mg 3x per day. Just went on so can't tell real effects on brething but having to take 3 times day is sorta of a pain. Also I don't want to go another 3 years on the wong meds. This is off Wlamart's list $4-10.00 cost. No insurance so have to watch budget/. Also what do you think of Cymbalta? I love it. feel normal for first time years.
his symptoms returned immediately when the antibiotics were finished. This resulted in 2 debridement surgeries where all the hardware was removed. He was on 6 weeks of IV Vanco and Rifampin which seem to end the infection. 6 weeks ago the went back in to redo the spinal fusion as his scoliosis was still severe and he had become very kyphotic well into his lumbar spine.
Woo Hoo! Thank you, Steve. I had a lot of duplicate foods or foods with only partial nutrient info in my list. Followed your instructions & was able to clean up my list pronto. It'll make it a lot quicker & easier to fill in my Food Diary with a shorter list to scroll through. Thanks so much to gailsonya for answering the question and Steve for answering it. You guys rock!
the cultures and urine showed Staphylococcus epidermidis which was treated with success with vanc and zyvox. i know S. epi. is a common skin flora but i am confused as to how i was infected. Any insight?
Not all fish have a high level of mercury. If your doc didn't give you a list, Google it and it will say what fish to absolutely avoid and which is okay and couple times a week. It's not good to just avoid all fish because they are so rich in nutrients that are also good for baby.
What does everybody shopping list look like.?
Your OB/Midwife should be able to give you a short list of foods not recommended to eat during pregnancy, raw fish. Uncooked lunch meat. Etc. That could potentially hurt the baby. I promise Siracha is not on that list (thank goodness)!
They aren't old wives tales because Listeria is a real possibility, however it is very rare.y Dr told me I could eat lunch meat every now and then and that it'd most likely be okay as long as I wasn't eating it for breakfast lunch and dinner everyday. Just like anything else, the greater the exposure the greater the risk.
there are gas releif medications you csn take ... your doctor should have given you a list of over-the-counter dos and don'ts ...
My doc says lunch meat 1-2x a week and trust the source. Do be sure you check the list of fish that's safe to eat. Some are high in mercury.
Look up the list from your doctors or google that shows which fish are safe and the amounts that are safe to eat of each time.
I'm on baby #4 and the list has changed each time! I avoid the main sources of infection like raw/undercooked eggs, cold prawns, soft cheese. I make sure my meat is properly cooked and in date but to be honest I don't get too hung up on it all, my parents generation weren't handed a big list of food to avoid and were actively encouraged to drink Guinness or Stout once a week! Just be sensible, but don't worry yourself too much.
