Zyvox and food interactions

Common Questions and Answers about Zyvox and food interactions

zyvox

Avatar f tn The VRE came back, in my urine, and I was hospitalized again last week and put back on Zyvox (oral this time). I am also on IV clindamycin and azithromycin, and a long list of other medications. While in the hospital they did daily blood work, of course, and my results have gotten progressively worse. They told me to follow up with my pcp, but my pcp is pretty much useless. Doesn't seem to want to deal with me because I am too complicated, which has been the trend over the last few years.
Avatar f tn Hi and sorry you have this problem. We are not doctors on here but I am a microbiologist and can try to give you some advice. I think a couple of things that could be happening are: 1. that she is being reinfected from her surroundings, either at home or school etc. 2. She isn't getting a strong enough set of antibiotics to knock it out. 3. It could be colonizing (inside) her nose and reinfecting her from her nose. So, you may have already done these things but if not: 1.
Avatar m tn I asked the person in chare of the hep c treatment and all i got was you should take Riba with food so grapfruit is ok. I don't think they had a clue.
Avatar m tn Likewise, I was never told to avoid taking anything with my levothyroxine besides food and calcium/multivitamin (basically just not at the same time, but I could still have a multivitamin). I've also never had a problem taking benedryl (besides that it knocks me out) or any other drug with my hypothyroid meds. If you're on a drug for your hypothyroidism, there is this nifty tool at the top- under drugs, you can find drug interaction.
Avatar f tn The results of the first sonogram stated right kidney 10.6 cm and lef 11cm. Mild left sided hydronephrosis and a cyst of the right renal pole 1.3 x 1.4 cm. Otherwise negative. I was told prior to this surgery that it was an incidental finding and not to worry about it at this time. The sonogram taken in the PICU seems like it is on a different kid: it states: right kidney 7.3 cm left kidney 11.2 cm. Increase in renal echogenicity bilaterally. No evidence of hydronephrosis.
Avatar m tn As far as food im not sure look at your lable and the print out that came with your meds. I do know that asprin is forbidden.
Avatar f tn It's nearly impossible to gage the interactions between medications and supplements because supplements are not regulated and/or tested to the extent that medications are. My best and only advice would be to ask your physician, even he/she may draw a blank.
Avatar n tn s and one surgery for a port ( my veins were shot) as well as a round of Zyvox pills ($82.00 a pill or $1600.00), I still tested positive. As luck and God would have it, I had been taking amoxicillian before all this happened so I thought "why not finish it, nothing else has worked". I knew when I took the amox, I had started to feel better. I talked my local PA into putting me on 8 weeks of it and low and behold, I have tested negative 2x.
Avatar n tn When I read the info that went with it and looked up info on line it said something about interacting with asthma meds and meds for the urinary tract. I have asthma and take flovent and xopenex I also have interstitial cystitis so therefore I take Elmiron. I have no idea if the doctor read my list of meds or not. But I do not want to take this if there is going to be an interaction. I also take thyroid meds-- armour and have endometriosis so I will take Advil and Tylenol for the pain from endo.
708731 tn?1229049180 I would look at the birth control pill in relation to your thyroid medication and disease, and also the consequences of mixing the birth control and the Prozac. You may find that switching birth control will allow for treatment other than Prozac. Just a thought, but I think it has merit. Keeping up on your bloodwork and getting stable at the correct level is the best medicine. If Prozac helps short term, go for it. I'm taking xanax.
Avatar f tn There're few web sites that shows "drug interactions", and "drug/herb/food interactions" ...do a search online for words in " ",I am sure you'll find your answers.....if not, please feel free to message me and I'll send you a link.
Avatar f tn All of this does not happen at the same time as one swelling goes down (bumps gets bigger and harder) the other appears. Went to a clinic and the nurse said it might be mersa and recommended me to a doctor. This doctor (infectous deseases) told me it was normal. This is not normal. Cause I am freakng out with these bumps that scratches, spread and leave extra dark marks. He gave me some Bactrim to take.
88793 tn?1290227177 Atacand HTC [candesartan + hydrochlorothiazide] may raise blood sugars. Consult with your pharmacist regarding Atacand drug interactions with ANY and ALL drugs/supplements/herbs/vitamins you are taking which may elevate blood sugars. If none exists consult with your doctor on switching to another bp medication.
Avatar n tn Buy a good quality Quercetin 500mg at your health food store. It can be taken 3 times a day. It blocks histamine and leukotrienes. My son is on Risperdal and quercetin and does very well.
Avatar f tn Now having said that, it is important that you and your doctor know the side effects and very possible interactions with your beta blockers, blood pressure medications and other interactions. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to keep doctor in the process as it could be disastrous with possible medical interactions or even food interactions such as grape fruit.
Avatar n tn (Experience talking here). Before taking any new medication, it is so important to check interactions with other meds, food and alcohol (which can be found in cough syrups!) I'm allergic to Morphine and there were Morphine dirivitives in one pain medicine that got past the doctor AND the pharmacist, so you really need to trust your gut. If you're questioning it...that's your gut talking.
Avatar n tn Make an appointment with your doctor now to get to the bottom of this and resolve the problem. Please let me know how you are doing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Avatar f tn i also take hormones and xanax...i read where alot of my meds have interactions...but pharmisits say its ok.............
Avatar f tn Good idea to look up interactions but best to call your pharmacy or dr and use the other resources for "guidance only" as you await to hear from your medical professional.
Avatar n tn My sister is a pharmacist who has had special training in the interactions between drugs and other things like vitamins, herbs, food. So not all pharmacist know either AND it depends on so many other things that are individual to your own body. Google the website: drugs.com and then go to the 'interactions-check' section. You can enter all the meds you are on into it and it will give you minor, moderate, severe warnings on how different medications can interact together.
