Avatar f tn To continue or not to continue ? I've been using Zymar for 12 days and the eye infection (mucus film and pink eye) is not completely gone. I was supposed to be completely recovered in 5 days. After 12 days, my eye is about 95% healed. Since " . . . prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi.", I would like to know if I should continue for a few more days or stop now.
Avatar m tn Thanks. Now after cataract surgery (left eye) we are given below drops. Zymar 4 times a day for 1 week. Pred Forte 4 times a day for first 3 weeks, 3 times a day next 1 week, 2 times a day for next 1 week, 1 time a day next 1 week. Megabrom 2 times a day for 4 weeks. Megabrom when applied gives prickling/slight burning sensation is it normal? Can Megabrom dose be reduced to 2 weeks. Wondering combination of steroidal and non-steroidal drops.
Avatar m tn , after seing an optomologist and getting on zymar + azithromycin + benadryl, the tearing + mucus in eye has reduced. Either eye/duct infection is gone from zymar, or my sinus infec has completely cleared or the benadryl is reducing some alergies... anyway., when i apply warm compress and then blow my nose with left nostril blocked., tears + white mucus drains into eye., this has to do with "wide open nasolacrimal duct" can someone please explain how this happens?
Avatar n tn I'm scheduled for cataract surgery on Wednesday. I started the prescription drops (Zymar and Xibrom) on Sunday morning as directed. I've had some peculiar symptoms and wondering if they are drug related. Sunday morning, a few hours after both drops, I sat down to read the paper (next to a bright light) and started feeling very hot. The left (cataract and light) side of my face felt a little numb, with some prickly feeling. I also felt very flushed....weak and faint feeling.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed with corneal erosion on March 20th. Bandage lens placed on eye with one week follow up to remove lens. Used Zymar drops 1 x day while bandage on. Told 4-6 wk. heal time. I am at the 4 wk. mark. I have scratchy, gritty, irritated, burning eyes. Called opthamologist several times w/same response of give it time. Using eye drops several times and hour still and pm ointment. GP is ruling out Sjogrens syndrome with bloodwork.
Avatar m tn Dear Dr Sandra There was no diagnoses explained to me ,except my eyes were checked and told that there was symptom of inflamation in my left eye followed by Tobramycin prescription and then things started getting worse. As of noon today ,I stopped my last prescription the ZYMAR drops and DOXYCYCL antibitocs pills until my next appointment with my doctor on Thursday. I have no pain or itching beside the inflamation of my eyebrows and below my eyes still remaining.
Avatar n tn I went to an eye doctor yesterday and she gave me Zymar and Acular to treat it and told me not to rub my eyes or try to clean them out when it starts. How can you work and function when it's doing this??? Just wondering if anyone else has this and what it's called.
Avatar m tn The distance vision is still acceptable (20-20 in right eye) and the IOL eye (left) can now read at about 18 inches and see pretty dadgum good at a distance. I don't think I could have stood the halos and "adaptation" period.
Avatar n tn I went to a new eye doc who put me on azasite for 14 days. I am very sensitive which he knows but says it is very tolerable and effective by most. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn My doctor gave me prescriptions for Zymar (0.3%), to be used 4X daily for 3 days AND Xibrom (0.09%), 2 X daily for 3 days prior to surgery. After looking on the RXlist medication information site, it says that Xibrom should be used only 24 hours prior to cataract surgery. Any longer could cause corneal adverse events......what kind of events? I'm really nervous about surgery and am beginning to question if I want to go through with it at this time.....What are preferred anesthesias?
Avatar n tn Yes, this is totally normal and done millions of times a year all over the world. I have done it for every cataract surgery I have ever performed. You want to keep the eye from getting inflamed after surgery. If we didn't use proper anti-inflammatory drops, the success rate from surgery would be awful due to inflammatory complications.
Avatar m tn Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. I will call her tonight to let her know. I had even offered to call the opthamologist on her behalf (I'm a retired teacher) but she begged me not to do so. In the meantime she has the appointment with the pulmonologist this Monday (7/26/10).
Avatar n tn I have a major problem in that the effected eye is now photophobic. The dimmest of lights forces my eye shut, causing a thin liquid discharge. Can anyone tell me how long it will be before the photophobia dissipates? I realize the infection may take a week to cure, but I'm when I'll get some relief from the light sensitivity.
Avatar n tn I also experience flashes of light from outside edge of eye. Today I noticed the contrast on the computer screen has declined. The last two weeks, the screen has been very bright, but now is more muted as before surgery. Could I be developing a "second cataract" this quickly after surgery? Or, could the problem be something else? My next visit to doctor is two weeks from today......Is this an immediate concern or can it wait? Because of synechiae, my pupil was stretched......
Avatar f tn One of our most reliable posters JodieJ has pain in the eye for many months and it was a small exposed suture. Exposed sutures can make for much discomfort. Some stitches do not dissolve or take many months. If you pain continues your surgeon may need to try and trim the exposed part of the suture.
Avatar n tn Recently I had to go to the eye doctor and found out my right eye had cornea abrasions and and ulcer. The doctor gave me Zymar, a bacteria antibiotic and that cleared that up. If I had a viral infection such as HIV would the bacterial antibiotic have treated my eye? Also, I've been working at a mail processing place for over a year. Throughout the day I work with a lot of cash, checks, and rubberbands.
Avatar n tn I called my surgeon and he said that is completely normal, it is where he made the incision. I am on Pred Forte 4x day, Xibrom 2x day, and Zymar 4 times a day, but I stop the Zymar tomorrow. I looked everywhere on this site and googled every way I know. I did not see anything related to this issue. If there was going to be a bump that was this noticeable, you would think the dr. or nurse would have warned me. There is no redness anywhere.

Avatar m tn Welcome to our Forum. I can understand how after being in the strip club you might be concerned that you somehow picked up an STD through contact with a dancer but it is most unlikely. Let me outline some of the reasons that I say this: 1. Chlamydia is simply not effectively transmitted from one person to another on contaminated fingers. If it were we would see genital infections as well as eye infections arising this way and we do not. 2.
1428481 tn?1340593131 We just got over a case of pink eye in my 2 year old. He had it for the first time under a year, and yes it is very common in infants and young children. As the others suggested, I would not use the medication until you have had a proper diagnosis. Although it certainly sounds like pink eye, other infections or issues are possible, and drops not intended for your child could do more harm then good. All the best.
Avatar m tn Glaucoma surgery because first surgery raise eye pressure to 50. Right eye marinated with zymar, forte, acular and lotemax, many-many follow-up appointments. The outcome can be more disappointed: Zero correction in astigmatism, my eye pressure is 24-30 after 3rd surgery, my insurance money taken away plus had to pay for an expensive toric lens because is premium and the insurance donot pay for it.
Avatar m tn She said I had the bacterial type of pink eye and gave me a prescription for Tobramycin. I used it for seven days and had about 50% improvement, but the infectipon was still present. I went back yesterday and she put me on three days of prednisone --6 pill therapy and a new prescrition for Tobramycin for six more days. If this doesn't work--what are my options? I have read that Tobramycin can cause kidney damage. Are their other drugs to use?
Avatar f tn it is best to be seen by a doctor, but Simialson makes pink eye relief eye drops, I have pink eye a lot, and they work sometimes, sometimes they work just enough to give me a little relief until I can see the doctor....but with any kind of eye problems its best to see a doctor..I am a walking testimony..I kept getting what I thought was pinkeye, so I kept being treated for pinkeye.
Avatar f tn t tell that not looking at the eye. If you are no longer getting pus out of the eye and you have taken for at least 5 days you could consider stopping the drops and using warm compresses and preservative free artificial tears.
