Avatar m tn I have suffered from insomnia for about 3 years now and have tried trazadone and zolpidem tartrate. I am currently on zolpidem 10 mg. I do not have trouble maintaining sleep just onset. Usually this occurs 3-4 nights a week and can lay awake for 2-4 hours before falling asleep. This causes me to be extremely tired the next day. I really avoid taking naps and can "power" through the day only to feel wide awake come bed time around 11-12 pm.
Avatar m tn Look at the prescription bottle to see which company manufactured the zolpidem. For many years a pharmacy sent me 90 day supplies of zolpidem from Mylan (manufacturer) which worked well. Then one time I noticed the color of the pills had changed to white and the shape was a little different. Those pills were from Teva (manufacturer) and gave me headaches, dizziness and a general sense of unwellness.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn hello!
Avatar f tn What else is there for insomnia? I was on 100mg seroquel for insomnia. I hate the way it makes me feel; but it does work. I am now going back and forth with the pharmacy that dispenses the seroquel; I get mine through the AZandMe free meds program. Of four prescriptions that my doctor has written, the pharmacy has yet to fill even one. The last time I had my seroquel was filled was September of last year.
1564517 tn?1314346323 I recently had to switch my med doctor because of my age. I have really bad insomnia and have all my life. I'm usually okay once asleep but I cant fall asleep on my own. I was put on 100mg on seroquel but it was reduced overtime because it was causing me to sleep too much, uncontrollably. I now take 25mg at night. But it still takes around 3 hours after I take it before I fall asleep. Well the other day my new doctor put me on 10mg of Zolpidem to take at night with the seroquel....
480448 tn?1426948538 Food and Drug Administration issued a statement on Thursday revealing its decision to require that the makers of zolpidem, a common sleep aid drug, reduce the dosage that is given to patients, particularly women. The FDA issued the mandate due to the emergence of information that has shown that the drug can stay in a person's system for several hours after they wake up. Zolpidem is commonly found in both generic and name-brand sleep aids.
Avatar f tn Many people have problems with insomnia on HCV treatment. Try to get even light exercise during the day, avoid daytime naps, no caffeine after noon, and if none of that helps, maybe you could ask your doctor for something like Ambien of Lunesta maybe; I assume they are available in Canada, although possibly under a different brand name. The generic name for Ambien is ‘Zolpidem’, if that helps.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Hi, tinnitus is known adverse effect due to ambien. 60 % of tinnitus due zolpidem is seen within a month of its use. Around 50 % patients can have severe tinnitus. 18070169 tn?1463175914 At this time I was also taking zolpidem every night. I read some stuff on zolpidem side effects and it appeared that after my surgery some of the rare side effects started cropping up. I attributed my anxiety to that. So I quit the zolpidem ct (which I probably shouldn't have) and did have a miserable few weeks, but a lot of the pains I was feeling went away. Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have.
4149717 tn?1389503561 Zolpidem Zolpidem should normally be taken for short periods of time. If you take zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer, zolpidem may not help you sleep as well as it did when you first began to take the medication. If you take zolpidem for a long time, you also may develop dependence ('addiction,' a need to continue taking the medication) on zolpidem. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer.
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Zolpidem for over 3 years and recently I found out Zolpidem is used for treating short term insomnia. I'd like to know if it can be used for long term and if whether there are any medications available which can be used for long term treatment.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if there are contraindications with combining the three of these? The person is experiencing insomnia (even though Ambien is supposed to keep you asleep for 7-8 hours), wakes up several times per night, is restless, seems to be experiencing some sort of mental confusion during the day, etc. Also, although the cough syrup (Pennkinetic) was optional, they now regularly use it (and if it is not given to them, actually ask to have it).
Avatar f tn As for sleep, the problem with taking medication regularly for sleep as opposed the way AnxiousNoMore uses it as described is it makes the insomnia worse in the long run. This is called rebound insomnia. You want a more permanent solution if you can find one. Also know that withdrawal from drugs can cause insomnia, and it sounds like you've had your share of it. Also, snris such as Effexor can also cause liver disease, or how does your doc know it wasn't the Effexor?
Avatar m tn Just to say, insomnia is a very common long-term withdrawal problem when you stop antidepressants. When did that start? How well did you tolerate stopping the paroxetine? Why did you stop taking it? Did it stop working? Did you taper off slowly before starting the cipralex? I'm asking to see if we can trace what's happening and when it started so you know what's causing what.
Avatar f tn Im addicted to zolpidem How do I get off it with the minimal withdrawal symptoms Ive been on it for 2 years now
739988 tn?1386672969 Along with the narcolepsy comes severe insomnia. On top of that, my body adapts to sleeping medications rapidly. In addition, I am on the last ditch Rx sleeping med that my team of three drs can come up with (general practioner, sleep specialist, psychiatrist). The med is Rimeron and I've been on it less than a week....it will be useless soon. Already I am having to boost its power with clonazepam (anti-anxiety) and non-drowsy cough medicine.
723660 tn?1247163511 I've been struggling with this for a long time. I can sleep 6, 7, even 8 or more hours, and still feel tired and drained in the morning. If I try and sleep too long (more than 7 hours), I feel hung over as well as tired, and develop a headache. I don't wake up in the night, don't snore, don't dream, and have only mild insomnia falling asleep at night. My last doctor prescribed zolpidem (ambien), which didn't help at all, and may have only made it worse.
