Zolpidem for insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Zolpidem for insomnia

ambien

Avatar m tn Also are there long term effects of zolpidem? I was instructed in class that zolpidem should only be given for short term around a month. My only other medical issue is mild-moderate tourettes that is managed well.
Avatar m tn Look at the prescription bottle to see which company manufactured the zolpidem. For many years a pharmacy sent me 90 day supplies of zolpidem from Mylan (manufacturer) which worked well. Then one time I noticed the color of the pills had changed to white and the shape was a little different. Those pills were from Teva (manufacturer) and gave me headaches, dizziness and a general sense of unwellness.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn What else is there for insomnia? I was on 100mg seroquel for insomnia. I hate the way it makes me feel; but it does work. I am now going back and forth with the pharmacy that dispenses the seroquel; I get mine through the AZandMe free meds program. Of four prescriptions that my doctor has written, the pharmacy has yet to fill even one. The last time I had my seroquel was filled was September of last year.
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Zolpidem for over 3 years and recently I found out Zolpidem is used for treating short term insomnia. I'd like to know if it can be used for long term and if whether there are any medications available which can be used for long term treatment.
1564517 tn?1314346323 t work well for me. Very few things work on me because not only do I have the insomnia (have had since I was little) but I put it in my head that things don't work. I can tell you that I do not recommend Ambien especially to someone with severe insomnia because I never had any type of addiction issue before it but now I will take more then I am supposed to just to sleep because you build a tolerence. If Seroquel works at such a low dose for you I would stay on it! I hope that helps some.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have trouble sleeping? I only average 4 hrs. sleep/night. I'm taking Trazadone 150mg. Dosen't seem to help. I'm afraid lack of sleep is affecting my health! Is this normal? I'm in week 37 of Interferon and Pegasys. Every night is a battle, for me. Maybe I've just psyched myself out.
18070169 tn?1463175914 At this time I was also taking zolpidem every night. I read some stuff on zolpidem side effects and it appeared that after my surgery some of the rare side effects started cropping up. I attributed my anxiety to that. So I quit the zolpidem ct (which I probably shouldn't have) and did have a miserable few weeks, but a lot of the pains I was feeling went away. Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have.
4149717 tn?1389503561 Zolpidem Zolpidem should normally be taken for short periods of time. If you take zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer, zolpidem may not help you sleep as well as it did when you first began to take the medication. If you take zolpidem for a long time, you also may develop dependence ('addiction,' a need to continue taking the medication) on zolpidem. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer.
Avatar m tn Tapering it off is very hard but I think if I could use an alternative drug in place of Zolpidem for a little while, it would help. What is your suggestion? It would be a relief for me to hear from you soon.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if there are contraindications with combining the three of these? The person is experiencing insomnia (even though Ambien is supposed to keep you asleep for 7-8 hours), wakes up several times per night, is restless, seems to be experiencing some sort of mental confusion during the day, etc. Also, although the cough syrup (Pennkinetic) was optional, they now regularly use it (and if it is not given to them, actually ask to have it).
Avatar n tn The drug is considered safe for a period of two to maximum six weeks for the treatment of insomnia. If taken for a longer duration, one may develop dependence on ambien. You should discuss with your doctor about the risks of taking ambient for 2 weeks or longer.
Avatar f tn and I’ve been awake last 1.
Avatar m tn Just to say, insomnia is a very common long-term withdrawal problem when you stop antidepressants. When did that start? How well did you tolerate stopping the paroxetine? Why did you stop taking it? Did it stop working? Did you taper off slowly before starting the cipralex? I'm asking to see if we can trace what's happening and when it started so you know what's causing what.
Avatar f tn Depending on your present dosage, withdrawal symptoms may include changes in behavior, fatigue, stomach pains or muscle cramps, panic attacks, nausea and major insomnia that goes on for a long time (which leads to more symptoms). I was on 10mg for 9 or 10 months and my taper took me 4 months to complete. Sleep was hard to come by. None of us are doctors on here and we're not allowed to give taper charts on this site. Make sure you touch base with your doctor when you taper.
739988 tn?1386672969 I feel for you, my doctor give me Zolpidem 10mg which is the generic for Ambien. There is also an Ambien CR. If you get it read the warnings carefully as its a very contravercial medicine. No not take at all if you are prone to sleepwalking! Safety first. I hope you get some much needed sleep. Sweet dreams.
723660 tn?1247163511 I've been struggling with this for a long time. I can sleep 6, 7, even 8 or more hours, and still feel tired and drained in the morning. If I try and sleep too long (more than 7 hours), I feel hung over as well as tired, and develop a headache. I don't wake up in the night, don't snore, don't dream, and have only mild insomnia falling asleep at night. My last doctor prescribed zolpidem (ambien), which didn't help at all, and may have only made it worse.
