1580703 tn?1651904887 These agents have been used successfully in treating nonhypercapnic central sleep apnea. Temazepam and zolpidem have been shown to be effective under these circumstances and are believed to work by consolidating the sleep pattern, thus minimizing the instability in ventilation induced by sleep-wake transitions. A case series showed zolpidem reduced central apneas, and the overall apnea-hypopnea index, without worsening obstructive events.
9485899 tn?1537369589 You may for some reason have developed sleep apnea, which is not only a PITA but can be dangerous. Light blocking sleep masks and white noise generators have always helped me.
1564517 tn?1314346323 ve undergone a sleep study and no serious obstructive sleep apnea problems if I keep my weight down from my max. Not real obese, but just 25 pounds over my okay weight and I have OSA problems. Guess fat in my throat is one of the places it accums.
Avatar n tn s always important to be medically evaluated first, usually with a sleep study, to determine if there could be a physiological reason, like sleep apnea, behind the sleep disturbances that needs addressed. Once a medical problem has been ruled out, you can get down to the nitty gritty. If you think your issue could be stress, anxiety and/or depression, then it's important to address those issues with a professional. Also, there are a lot of things you can do to improve your sleep habits.
Avatar f tn I have taken 10 mg Zolpidem (Ambien) for years as it really helps me sleep. But I think it may be causing my tinnitus. The only way to be sure of this is to stop taking it for a time and see if tinnitus goes away. So far, I have not taken any for 11 nights and tinnitus is still the same. - A pretty much constant low-pitched noise. How long would I have to stay off Zolpidem before knowing whether or not it is the culprit?
1218873 tn?1300091216 I take Zolpidem for sleep every night. I don't take Lyrica but take Gaba, flexeril and Clonazepam. The Zolpidem puts me out very well, but I still wake up with pain throughout the night like you mention. I take the 10 mg with 1mg of Clonazapam. Can you ask him for a anti-anxiety medication to take with the sleeper? Maybe ativan which has a shorter half life (I think---I'm not a doctor)?
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1770925 tn?1365618522 Thanks. The doctor has given me Zolpidem for sleep, it does make the sleep session go to 5 hours, but it makes me wobble so badly, I cant play golf in the morning!

Avatar m tn I took a few days 10 mg of zolpidem for sleep (from the doctor) and now my head is terrible you think it would go by itself?I have terrible insomnia and i don't know is very unpleasent and makes me very lethargic in motion.
4149717 tn?1389503561 If you take zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer, zolpidem may not help you sleep as well as it did when you first began to take the medication. If you take zolpidem for a long time, you also may develop dependence ('addiction,' a need to continue taking the medication) on zolpidem. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer. Do not take a larger dose of zolpidem, take it more often, or take it for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor.
Avatar f tn thanks for the quick response I don't think i've developed a tolerance but it is worth checking out what type of drug is loramet! Do you take sleep meds every night? I do and cannot sleep without them.
Avatar f tn I previously alternated between temazepam and zolpidem for sleep. I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day. I don't crave either of the meds I quit, but I have been experiencing inability to concentrate, ringing in my ears, vomiting, blurry vision, sweating, confusion, anxiety and mood swings. The symptoms wax and wane and I can't find a pattern.
Avatar f tn Snoring does often accompany sleep apnea, but just because you snore does not mean you have sleep apnea and vice versa. Minor sleep apnea is responsive to self-help remedies such as losing weight, eliminating the use of alcohol, tobacco, and sedatives; sleeping on your side, and regularizing your sleep hours. It would be best to see a sleep specialist for proper management and to ease your worries. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I think my “depression” is controlled but I feel I can’t relax and can’t sleep and irritable and annoyed most od the time. Even when I use zolpidem/zopiclone I get a good nights sleep, but still feel miserable the next day. The reason I wound up on this combo was that when weaning the mirtazapine got depressive symptoms coming back and those were controlled by adding in a bit of sertraline.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure about the seeing things, but your heart rate being up could be linked to why you feel scared. And it could possibly be sleep apnea. Waking up frequently may also be a sign of sleep apnea, though one does not have to do this in order to have it. A reason you may be waking up could be because your brain is realizing that you are not getting enough oxygen, and this causes you to wake up. Your heart rate being up could also be due to lack of oxygen.
Avatar f tn There is lot of mixed reaction from the users of Zolpidem to help sleep, it has done wonders in few people while few are not satisfied with its use or the side effects of the drug and its dependence. Ambien is meant for short-term use and not for years. I would like to suggest you to consult a sleep doctor and discuss the other options for alternate drugs. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar m tn I have went to the doctor and have gotten sleep counseling and relaxation techniques. I have been on zolpidem for around a year and it does help quite a bit but here is what I am really wondering about. I am a medical student and have been concerned that I should not be on zolpidem this long. Can this affect my memory (with the amnesia side effects) or will that just be for the 7-8 hours while the drug is in my system? Also are there long term effects of zolpidem?
Avatar n tn I am trying to find a link to med given to me by the military that may have caused sleep apnea. a friend said he read that some of the shots given to us before we went to the persian gulf could cause sleep apnea.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed 12.5mg. of zolpidem but my insurance will only cover RX for 10mg. Is this safe to switch?
Avatar m tn 5 years ago my father got sick and passed away and since then I have used Benzodiazpines so that I could sleep well but after awhile I have got to know Zolpidem. Now I am using 50-60mg per day. I have to take a nap in the mid day (4-5pm till 6-7pm). I use 20mg at 4pm, 20mg before bed and 10-20mg in the mid night. If I wouldn’t use it I would get anxiety and unrest and a bit of shaking. It is very difficult for me to not sleep in the mid day. I am treated now for 3 months.
Avatar m tn i was diagnosed with sleep apnea after sleep studies was done and i do not snore at all but i do snort from it
Avatar m tn He takes 10 mg every night before going to sleep. How long can Zolpidem withdrawals last? And would they start right after he starts to taper with it or after he stops taking it completely?
