I am a stay at home mother with three young boys. I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness.
Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try.
I'm on Adderall 10 mg tab (not XR) 2x daily for my ADHD but it seems really weak, especially in the morning. I'm also taking generic Zoloft at 75 mg a day in the morning with breakfast simultaneously with the Adderall. Also, I've been on Adderall before without Zoloft and it seemed to be more effective, though I was on a 15mg morning regimen.When I take the Adderall in the morning with I barely feel a difference, except a very minor dry mouth.
I'm diagnosed with ADHD and depression at 25mg amphetamine tab daily (15 morning, 10 lunch), and 15mg Sertraline every breakfast, respectively. Regarding the ADHD, my psychiatrist told me I should probably take a "pill holiday" with the Adderall every once in a while when I don't study or when I am not doing much work. I tried that once, but I think it somewhat threw off my treatment for depression.
There definately is a difference between Ritalin and Adderall. Adderall is stronger. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall.
If I could I would go cold turkey from zoloft so I could go right back to taking the adderall. Adderall is the only thing that has EVER made me feel good and like I had the chance at a normal life. It may sound overly dramatic, but it's the only thing that ever gave me even hope. It really felt like a miracle to me and I hope it has the same effect on you. You sound so much like you have felt the way I have, so it wouldn't surprise me if it had the same effect on you.
When I read you were adding adderall I felt compelled to relay my experience. Adderall is basically legalized speed. Do yourself a favor and try all other options before turning to adderall. I was addicted to adderall. I just finished physical withdrawals and now I'm dealing with phychatric withdrawals. This drug is sold on the streets and you might find yourself needing more and more in order for it to work. Just be careful!
And was placed on Pinodol. He is also on Suboxone for loratab addiction. He has been put on adderall then taken off due to it not helping him. Was put on Vyvanse and was having severe side effects from that. So he was placed on the same dosage of Adderall that he was on previously. 20 mg 2 times a day, and was also put on Zoloft. I was wondering what other medications would help with mood problems and anger issues? And what would be the fastest acting medication he could take?
I also fear drugs because I was incorrectly put on Zoloft as a teenager for depression when in fact it was PCOS, and it put giant gaps in my memory while on it. I have heard that Adderall helps, but that it will turn you into a zombie, and my line of work requires thinking outside the box and being quick on your feet. Who should I talk to for help?
Also have ADHD. Meds were Zoloft, Adderall. Had two major depressive episodes on that combo. Abilify 5mg was added and the sun came out. Was later DX with BPII. ALSO, after 8 yrs on Abilify, had unexplained weight gain of 15-20 lbs. in spite of good diet, reg exercise. Now weaning off Abilify due to wt. gain and titrating up on Lamictal for obvious mood swings. Idk, Abilify worked well for me with Zoloft for approx 8 years. Good luck to you!
If you only the twitch in you neck when your anxious than thats just a symptom of you anxiety and not a side affect of the meds. Anxiety/depression causes physical symptoms too. My whole body shakes and I get chills when I feel a panic attack coming on. You may need both and if so thats fine especially if the combination works better for you. You may need the adderall for your ADHD. I don't think Zoloft helps with ADHD but I'm not sure.
m just wondering how long you had or have been on Adderall. A lot of your symptoms are consistent with taking Adderall, especially on 80mg. I took Adderall and after two weeks I was paranoid, thought people were talking about me, police following me, depressed and anxious to the max!! After I stopped it the symptoms slowing got better. Come to find out all those thoughts were crazy and not true. I thank God I stopped that med.
Vyvanse is metabolized differently, so could last longer in your system. It was done so you could not snort it like you can with Adderall. Adderall gives a stronger first "hit". V is smoother and takes longer to take effect so may not be as noticeable. Also the Dose of V should be 30mg compared to 10mgs of adderall XR to be somewhat equal.
I am on an antidepressant and adhd medication (adderall). I have a h/x of depression and I don't think it is fully treated or I am at the age where it may be becoming more pronounced. I am in my late 20's and I want to have children but my obgyn always reminds me that I will have to come off of my meds when I start trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and while breastfeeding. I did the cold-turkey off 120mg of adderall last Thurs. (Friday being my first clean day.) I have read about severe depression sinking in after about a week of detox...well, I am experiencing it, I think. I posted earlier (titled "what the heck?!) b/c today I was just fine -- better than fine one minute; so happy to have my life and MIND back, but then later I was severely depressed, stressed out, anxious, and crying.
I have taken both Zoloft and Effexor for long periods (not any longer because I am on differnt AD's now) What I can tell you is that (at least in my case) I found Zoloft to be far LESS effective than Effexor.
Zoloft is a one trick poney and effects only Serotonin. Effexor effects both Serotonin and Norephinepherine. Big difference in the two drugs. I am pretty sure you will find Zoloft much less effective, as most people do.
Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison.
I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. 50mg was wayy too much at the time. 30mg was perfect until about a month ago. It lasted about 12 hours, a huge improvement over 4 hours of Adderall IR.
