Zoloft and breastfeeding side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and breastfeeding side effects

zoloft

Avatar f tn Zoloft is a great drug, I have had panic attacks and anxiety for years and they went away after being on Zoloft and xanex as needed. It does take some time to find the right dose and the side effects to go away but stay with it!! Before I started the Zoloft I was taking 2-4 mg of xanex a day, after some time I was not taking any, and my life was normal again. Unfortunately after 12 plus years on Zoloft it pooped out on me a year ago...
Avatar f tn I have switched from zoloft to celexa and I feel like I'm losing my mind. I'm having moments of happiness that scare me. How dumb is that?
Avatar f tn Lastly, you just increased your dose of Zoloft, and it is common to experience a resurgence of those initial start up side effects again. Usually you would see those side effects start to abate in a week or two. So, to recap, I would ask for a more thorough assessment/diagnostic approach with your suspected hormonal issues. If need be, your doc can ever refer you to an endocrinologist (I would personally recommend that).
Avatar f tn it worked far better than lexapro which is what I started on and my son is now about to turn 2 and there were no side effects for me or him.
Avatar f tn When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects. I am glad that you are seeing a psychiatrist to help you with your medication prescriptions and questions.
Avatar f tn I had terrible side effects from Zoloft not pregnant. I would be terrified to take while I was pregnant. It has to be very unsafe for baby. Hope you feel better.
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar f tn I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.
Avatar f tn Has anyone here ever taken Zoloft? If so wat were your side effects? I started Zoloft on Monday. I only took one pill n within a couple of hours I felt horrible! I had nausea n diarrhea. Today is Thursday and I still feel nauseas. Keep in mind it took one pill on Monday n no more after that. Please give me some input.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Zoloft for 3 days and have almost every "common" side effect: Nausea and increased anxiety like crazy. Diareah, insomnia, burning feeling on the back of my neck, dry mouth. Nausea and increased anxiety are the worst. I can barely eat a thing. I took 25 mg 3 days in a row. I decided not to take it anymore. I am hoping that the side effects will go away very quickly.
633284 tn?1271714418 So I just took my first pill of zoloft and its been about 2 hours and I feel a lil strange could that just be me thinking about it or is it the pill?? or coiuld it be that i didn't eat at all after I took it? My eyes just feel a lil weird. I am taking this pill for my panic disorder. Do things get worse b4 better???
20632981 tn?1503687567 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar f tn Ive recently been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and my doctor wants me to take medication. It's also contributing to an excessive weight gain. I looked up the effects of Lexapro and a lot of the side affects concerned me so my dr suggested Zoloft which doesn't look as bad. Has anyone taken these medications or know anyone who did?
Avatar n tn I too am on 175 - 200mg of Zoloft and I admit when first starting the medication I was feeling quite dizzy and nauseated. Dosage started at 50mg, then after a week increased, and every week increased until I reached 175mg. In the past my doctor has had me on Celexa and Effexor but Zoloft seems to work the best, for me that is. Everyone is different. I waver between 175 - 200mg depending on the kind of day I'm having.
Avatar m tn I have been on zoloft for two weeks and the side effects are still pretty bad, without any benefits (it seems like it has been two years!). (I have tried lexapro, paxil, and celexa, but zoloft was the first AD I have taken and from my first experience seemed to produce the least side effects for me (although this time seems bad). I know it takes awhile for SSRI's to get working and initial side effects are common. I started taking 25mgs for a week and have been on 50mgs for a week.
Avatar f tn One of the great ironies of depression treatment is that while depression can rob you of your desire for sex, the drugs that treat it can be much worse. Common side effects for women are lessening of sexual desire and ability to orgasm. However, this isn’t true for everyone. There are, however, some actions you can take that may help restore your sexual satisfaction. You may wish to discuss these with your prescribing physician.
Avatar f tn I had the same question you did because as of today my doctor put me on Zoloft and although she assured me my baby would be fine and it would be OK to breastfeed I'm still worried something could happen.
Avatar m tn I woke up this morning worried about side effects and felt like my heart was racing and going to beat out of my chest. I took 2 xanax (which I've been taking for years) and feel like I'm calming down, but I'm worried this racing heart is a side effect or if it's just my anxiety of taking the new medication. I want to get my life back but I think I'm afraid even this won't work. Would appreciate any advice or feedback.
Avatar f tn All meds come with side effects. And some of those side effects can be very bothersome. How long have you been on Zoloft? If it's been for a short time this side effect may go away. If it keeps up though, ask your Dr about changing to a different med.
Avatar f tn I can relate to not wanting to take meds. I do take zoloft (50mg) and have for quite some time. Often my therapist suggests either taking a higher dosage or switching meds. For me to switch is like asking me to lop my arm off with a rusty butter knife. I just don't want to do it. My rational is how do I know if I'm truly getting better through therapy if I mask the symptoms? My goal is to be med free if possible.
Avatar f tn Depends on your md but zoloft and wellbutrin( no clue how to spell that) are frequently prescribed to pregnant women. Also depends on how severe the depression is a risks vs benefits thing. As far as anxiety not really sometimes anti depressants help. My md said take benadryl, it doesn't make you less anxious but makes you sleepy...
Avatar f tn Hi, I am on my 18 th day of starting Zoloft 25 mg, I had some appetite loss and doctor think that I have postpartum anxiety. However first 2 weeks was horrible with side effects but no still when I wake up I feel nervous and anxious and nausea. My problem was appetite loss sometimes and now since I started this med i feel it killed my appetite. Anyone had the same thing and then the appetite came back? how long should I wait? :( Thanking everyone who will respond in advance.
Avatar n tn When they test new medications for side effects they only test on non-pregnant adults, not kids, not babies, not fetuses. There is no way to know if your medications will affect your fetuses or your baby should you breastfeed. If it was me, I would opt for formula and taking my medication. This is from someone who breastfed for two years.... I feel that since we can't know for certain if a drug is safe for a baby then we shouldn't take a chance of damaging her or him.
Avatar f tn If every increase is going to do that, my poor stomach is going to explode! I like Zoloft as far as my mood goes. IT seems to be kicking in but the side effects are rough!
Avatar m tn lots of psyc drugs cause nasty side effects and nasty withdrawls. Ive been on zoloft for five years and have liked it because for me it had no side effects. these meds react with people differently. I have GAD and am getting off zoloft bc I need something stronger but it helped with low- moderate anxiety and my depression.
