Avatar m tn I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result. My condition limits my ability to perform in sports and my day to day life.

Avatar f tn Almotriptan (axert), Rizatriptan (maxalt), Zolmitriptan (zomig nasal spray... don't bother with the tablets, the body can't absorb the chemical in the tablet form), Sumatriptan (sumatriptan injection or treximet tablet... don't bother with imitrex tablets, the body can't absorb the chemical in tablet form). If you are having cluster headaches, then you should be taking sumatriptan injections and also be using oxygen therapy.

Avatar f tn The triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray, generic name Zolmitriptan. Some other examples of triptans are Maxalt, generic name Rizatriptan and Axert, generic name Almotriptan. It would be worth it to give one of these other triptans a try. I would suggest getting a triptan in a fast acting form, either a quick dissolve tablet or a nasal spray.
1030950 tn?1261010513 Zomig (the Zolmitriptan) is a great triptan. Do you take the nasal spray version? I do, I think that is the best version of zomig. It works the fastest. If you are taking the pill version and you are finding some relief but not complete relief, I would suggest talking to your doctor about switching you to the Nasal Spray version of Zomig... since it works much better.
783371 tn?1237887461 - Zolmitriptan. brand name is zomig. make sure it is the NASAL SPRAY... NOT THE TABLETS!! tablets will NOT WORK! this is what i use. it does not always work, but i have moderate success with it. - Rizatriptan. brand name Maxalt. make sure they are the orally disintegrating tablets and NOT THE TABLETS!! they taste AWFUL but will work MUCH BETTER than the tablets. the regular tablets do NOT work very well compared to the orally disintegrating tablets.
Avatar f tn ve been able to handle them really well the last few years with 1/4 of a 2.5mg tablet of Zomig or Mylan (zolmitriptan) at the beginning of each headachy day. My doctor says it's safe for the liver at that dosage. Maybe it could help you. GOOD LUCK!!
436713 tn?1408884730 I could not even hold down a teaspoon of water and was dehydrated. The Triptan family of drugs is the only cure. I take Zolmitriptan but any of the triptans are brilliant. These drugs make you feel amazingly normal and even prevent the bad attacks coming on. Sumatriptan, Rizatriptan, Zolmitriptan etc.
