I know there are preventative medications out there for migraines, however, I don't think my migraines are severe enough to warrant that approach. Like I said in the post, usually they're just headaches that are painful enough to be an annoyance, not severe enough for me to not be able to go on with daily activities. I have been taking Zomig 2.5mg which is a serotonin agonist.
or triptans are a class of medication and examples of triptans are sumatriptan (brand name imitrex), zomig, maxalt, axert... well those are just to name a few. And yes, they are migraine medication and you take them at the first signs of the migraine, the SS, and it will stop the SS as long as you take it at the very first signs that it is starting. You can get it prescribed by a neurologist or your family doctor. It is better to go to a neurologist instead of an eye doctor. But...

Butalbital (Fiorinal) is a sedative commonly prescribed for migraine but nowadays it just for pain not remedied by triptans like Zomig or my medication Migrainal. I want my life back as well. So deep into this; 25 years. I hope slow detox works; otherwise, well.......I haven't thought that far ahead. Thank you for your support and most informative info. Best of luck to you as well. Medication. It won't cure the migraines, but if you get on a regime of taking migraine medication daily, it will prevent future migraines. It actually seems to work fairly well. Ask your GP/Neurologist about taking Topamax or Propranolol. They'll start you at a low dosage, and then increase it every few weeks until it is at a level where you feel comfortable and nearly headache-free!
Almotriptan (axert), Rizatriptan (maxalt), Zolmitriptan (zomig nasal spray... don't bother with the tablets, the body can't absorb the chemical in the tablet form), Sumatriptan (sumatriptan injection or treximet tablet... don't bother with imitrex tablets, the body can't absorb the chemical in tablet form).
If you are having cluster headaches, then you should be taking sumatriptan injections and also be using oxygen therapy.
After some time of taking zomig nearly everyday I had to resort to syndol again. The side effects of zomig are not pleasant at all and drain all my energy and are too expensive to take everyday. The syndol seemed to be working but after a while they kind of stopped working again but was again addicted.
I have lost hope of my headache problem ever being solved. I cannot stand all this pain and drugs. One way or another I feel sick all times of the day with no exaggeration whatsoever.
I had my periods las week and have had a head ache for several day finally took some migraine medication that I have taken before called zomig and this morning I woke up with these dots all over my body.
Should I be worried? I still do have this headache but its tolerable not like my full on migraines and I do feel drained.
Headache on left front side with a crazy visual aura, took zomig, hour later took ibuprofen 600, albuterol sulfate and Ritalin. Cold and hot feeling across skin, mostly on right side, nausea, joint pain, burning pain in abdomen and chest, dizzy, tired and short of breath. Migrating sharp pains across body. Ringing ears. Vision is unnaturally blurry. Chest and stomach symptoms worsen when laying down, head symptoms worsen when standing up.
If you have pain around your eye that does not respond well to over-the-counter medication and is distracting you from your every day activities, it is possible you have a migraine. Migraines rarely respond well to many over-the-counter medications, and some over-the-counter medications can even make migraines worse. It might be a good idea to see a neurologist. A neurologist could tell you if you have migraines, and could also prescribe you the proper medication to stop your migraines.
What about Aleve, indomethacin, and the triptans (Zomig, Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax) in the event that I do end up getting a migraine during this time? I was told I could take tylenol, not that it would dent one of my headaches. I asked the audiologists office but apparently they forgot to ask and now the audiologist is out of town.
