Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.

Avatar n tn When a drug patent runs out, a (usually much) less-expensive generic drug comes onto the market, which is chemically and medically equivalent to the brand-name drug. If he's saying what I think he's saying, I'd like to know what the difference here could possibly be. How could the the equivalent be different?...and if its different, how could it be equivalent? If not, what does the other answer mean? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.

Avatar f tn I was prescribed Ondansetron (generic Zofran) by the hospital for hyperemesis from 6 weeks until 17 weeks after being admitted multiple times due to dehydration and starvation. Avatar m tn t do it and you should try prescription meds. Most of us have had very good results from Zofran, though there are occasional people who get nothing but a headache from it. For me, Zofran is nothing short of a miracle. I can't take most anti-nausea meds – most of them only slightly reduce the nausea but very effectively render me nearly unconscious. Zofran comes in either 4mg or 8mg, and comes either as a pill you swallow or as one you dissolve on your tongue.
