148588 tn?1465778809 For example, Gilead’s own Stribild, a costly new four-in-one combo treatment for HIV/AIDS, is $80 per pill. At $1,000 per pill, Sovaldi costs 1,100% more than Stribild, the most-expensive AIDS combo drug on the market. In addition, Gilead is charging a higher price for this drug even though the cost to produce it is small. According to industry reports, Gilead produces Sovaldi for approximately $1.00 per gram (with only 10 to 30 grams needed to successfully treat patients with Hepatitis C).

2147300 tn?1369689688 Saw doc today, got script for zofran but forgot to ask how to use it. Can someone tell me when you are supposed to take it? Bottle says 3 times a day as needed but can I just take one now and then and how long does it take to work? 4mg. Thanks.
Avatar m tn If that did not worl or if her systems of about to get sick are strong, we give her one Zofran. They are the best and strongest nausea pill out there. She lets it dissolve under her tongue and it does in 5 seconds and in 5 minutes, she feels better. So Zofran it's really good for your mom. Good luck!
Avatar f tn My OB doesn't Rx Zofran bc of the cost. He said it's the SAME EXACT thing as taking Pepcid Complete and Unisom together (per recommended dosage of each). Totally safe and much cheaper if your insurance doesn't cover the Rx. Unisom is a sleep aid, but the ingredients combined with Pepcid Complete are the same as what's in Zofran.
Avatar f tn I was given Zofran during my tx with Incivek. The insurance company fussed and the nurse practitioner had to go back and forth with them a bit. Seems it's approved for cancer chemo but they haven't yet figured out that HCV tx is also chemo. I think that's the big benefit of Zofran, it doesn't cause the drowsiness. I wonder if the cost is any better by now. Anyway, it really worked for me even at the lowest dose.
Avatar f tn Yeah the Zofran "study" is total ********. It's only if you're getting the 32mg IV dosage on a regular basis that any problems can occur. Those on 4-8mg pills or IV doses are perfectly fine. You can take up to 32mg per day, just not all at the same time. I'm part of a group of 3000 moms, all of who have been on Zofran, and not one of them has had issues from the Zofran. I'm on it myself, along with Diclegis.
Avatar f tn t take it I feel like crap and want to throw up.. always feeling sick but when I take it I feel amazing. Sickness is gone and it only takes one pill all day long to help and it says to take one pill twice a day as needed on my bottle but I only need one. Works so good for me if it weren't for it I wouldn't be able to eat at all.
Avatar f tn Zofran is a miracle pill! It does make you constipated so keep prune juice handy.
765070 tn?1384869794 Yeah, zofran is an anti-emetic, they give it to cancer patients going through chemo, etc. It's VERY expensive, and because of the type of plan I have, i had to pay too much for it until i got through my deductible---i said "no thanks." I decided i'd rather take one otc cheapie than two expensive Rx's---even without the cost, why take another med to help me cope with another med---know what i mean?
Avatar f tn I'm now 12w3d and I've been having really bad morning sickness to the point I have to go to the hospital 3times a week just for fluids and I've been taking the prescription zofran since I was 9 weeks. I recently saw that zofran is being sued for causing birth defects.. I've asked my doctor about it and she just says that there is no evidence yet.. I'm trading the pill form and getting thru iv.. I'm a ftm and I just don't know what to do right now.
Avatar m tn I saw this yesterday, printed it out and have read it several times. And I'll probably have to read it several more before I can completely wrap my head around it. The good news, as I see it, is the clarity it brings to the subject of actual cost of new medications to payers. "The $1000 dollar pill" or the "$1125 pill" has gotten so much play in the media. (Doctors aren't immune to this nor are many who work in the insurance industry.
8367118 tn?1442605420 Maybe look into promethazine?
Avatar f tn Sorry I don't have Kaiser health insurance, maybe someone else here does, but those prices sound about right. Those are your "co-pay costs", the "actual cost" is thousands of dollars per month as you have heard. I had Blue Cross of California during treatment and my co-pay cost were similar to the prices you quoted.
Avatar f tn for nearly $1,000 per week (as you can expect she went without when outpatient)...IV, pill, etc....no relief. The only time she did was the use of a G-Tube (surgical tube into the stomach) to drain that fluids...but that is extreme (but also common)...route to take if the meds that were talked about in this thread do not work. Aloxi (as mentioned) is one of the newer ones and does last a while...but some insurance may not like it (unlikely though)...
Avatar f tn Everything is relative-- but yes, that is a large dose. Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day. The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day.
Avatar n tn We just moved and my doc is new to his practice, supposedly there is no one at their OB office that can prescribe me Zofran or Phenergan until monday! I'm 9 weeks 5 days and I have a toddler...keeping up with him is killing me. I have tried all these tips and nothing works. I am drinking a bottle of emetrol a day!!! All that crap is, is sugar water to coat the stomach. Sometimes my stomach hurts so bad it feels like it's twisting apart.
Avatar f tn Its so bad they prescribed me zofran. Ive been taking it ever since I entered my 2nd trimester.Ive been told there is lawsuits with this medicine as it causes birth defects. Any advice?
12103503 tn?1423448886 Is it safe to take zofran during pregnancy. My doctor perscibed it to me for nausea. But then i got freaked out about a commercial i saw in tv about zofran causing birth defects.
Avatar f tn I'm experiencing extreme nausea am vomiting... I am 7 weeks...my doctor prescribed me zofran...I am scared to take it because I've seen a commercial about it..I took half a tab today. And I threw that up.
Avatar f tn zofran is safe :). there are 2 nausea medicines that are considered safe for pregnancy, and zofran sounds like the better choice for you (since phenergan makes you sleepy, and that's the other option, i think it would freak you out!). every medicine is going to carry warnings, and there will be people who SWEAR that this medicine caused this or that...but that's the internet for you. it is considered safe, and your OB only prescribed it because they felt it was safe....
Avatar f tn ZOFRAN IS MY SAVIOR. IT'S THE ONLY PILL I'VE TAKEN SINCE I'VE BEEN PREGNANT. I won't even take anything for headaches. I just sleep them off.
1419259 tn?1303438666 I was never given reglan. I took Phenergan and Zofran, though the zofran never did much for me. If you're still getting sick frequently you might need to go to the hospital to make sure you're not getting dehydrated.
Avatar f tn Any reviews on zofran ? Im 20 weeks and ive been taking it once a day almost my whole pregnancy to help me keep down food. But now im hearing bad things about it. I havent had an ultra sound yet so im worried about it?
