I am taking zofran and it's perfectly safe and a class b drug. The ads on tv are just lawyers trying to get money for a case they can't prove. The birth defects they state are the most common among all babies born no matter a family history or not. Don't be afraid to take it if you need it. If you are that afraid though, look up the study of 600,000 pregnant women in denmark in 2013 that proved it was safe.
I was given Zofran during my tx with Incivek. The insurance company fussed and the nurse practitioner had to go back and forth with them a bit. Seems it's approved for cancer chemo but they haven't yet figured out that HCV tx is also chemo. I think that's the big benefit of Zofran, it doesn't cause the drowsiness. I wonder if the cost is any better by now. Anyway, it really worked for me even at the lowest dose.
Yeah the Zofran "study" is total ********. It's only if you're getting the 32mg IV dosage on a regular basis that any problems can occur. Those on 4-8mg pills or IV doses are perfectly fine. You can take up to 32mg per day, just not all at the same time. I'm part of a group of 3000 moms, all of who have been on Zofran, and not one of them has had issues from the Zofran. I'm on it myself, along with Diclegis.
Also, has anyone used the medication---Zofran? Mom said that seems to help her feel a little better. She sounds a little stronger today. It is so hard for me to hear her sound weak---this is the lady who took care of 6 kids with her eyes closed!!! Hee Hee!!
My concern with the Nuelesta shot is that she also has osteoporosis. Does anyone know if the 10 day shot after chemo is as effective as the one shot Nuelesta?

There is medication you can get from your doctor. It's call Zofran. There is a generic version that cost a whole lot less. I have taken both and many people on hep c treatment take it. Doctors should give everyone a prescription for throwing up before starting treatment. I knew to ask for Zofran before treatment because I had throw up issues while in cancer chemo. Give your doctor a call and get relief. It works great.
Just an FYI for anyone who experiences nausea and vomiting with general anesthia - ask the anesthesiologist to include zofran with the mix. That stuff is a wonder drug for nausea and vomiting. It's my understanding that it was developed for chemo patients. Whatever the reason, since it came into more widespread use I have never once had a problem with anesthesia-related nausea.
Ooh, I remembered one more thing. Acupuncture worked for me from weeks 6-8 but it wasn't covered by insurance. I ended up taking the zofran instead because of the cost. Acupuncturist warned me I would need to come 3x/wk for full results which was also difficult since I have a toddler. I felt better after every session though. I wish it was covered by ins.
When I was prescribed zofran, I still didn't have insurance. It cost me an arm and a leg, but it really helped. I was so sick I kept ending up in the hospital, and I couldn't even keep down water. It reallydepebds on how bad your sickness is. They are amazing medication though.
Have you talked to your doctor about any type of medicine they could proscribe? Mine gave me Zofran (Which I could never get filled because of the cost) and phenergan and that seems to work really with stopping it.
Any reviews on zofran ? Im 20 weeks and ive been taking it once a day almost my whole pregnancy to help me keep down food. But now im hearing bad things about it. I havent had an ultra sound yet so im worried about it?
I'm now 12w3d and I've been having really bad morning sickness to the point I have to go to the hospital 3times a week just for fluids and I've been taking the prescription zofran since I was 9 weeks. I recently saw that zofran is being sued for causing birth defects.. I've asked my doctor about it and she just says that there is no evidence yet.. I'm trading the pill form and getting thru iv.. I'm a ftm and I just don't know what to do right now.
How many mommies here had to take zofran? Is it really safe I am taking it now to help me on my sickness but worries still in my mind. Share your thought about this med.
I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
Dmpnonna, I weighed 120 before pregnancy. Minus 40 pounds. I got down to 79 pounds. I went into preterm labor bc my body just simply could not support the weight of my baby. At 22 weeks my baby would not have survived. I was told by so many doctors "you have your baby now, he WILL die" zofran saved his life. If it wasn't for zofran I would weigh 107 now and I wouldn't still be carrying our sweet little boy at 30 weeks. Sometimes drugs are necessary.
I've lost 7 pounds since I've been pregnant due to the morning sickness and appetite loss, so my doctor prescribed me Zofran but I really don't want to take it. I'm sure y'all seen the commercials and I looked it up and it does cause those things. What should I do?
My friend took it with her pregnancies and delivered healthy babies,but i know there are massive lawsuits against zofran. I would say consult with your Dr and approach with caution.
Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant almost 7 now and I have had the worse nausea of my life. Not much of throwing up just nausea. I was prescribed Zofran to help with that but I have found that a lot of women who have taken it have had their child born with deformities. Has anyone taken this medicine before???
