Has anyone that has gastricparesis tried Zelnorm? It was working for me and than they took it off the market. My doctor just suggested a drug from Canada named domperidone. Does anyone have any experience with this drug. I tried Reglan and couldn't handle the side affects. Erithamyacin made me break out in a rash. Right now I depend on Zofran for the throwing up and sometimes it doesn't help.
since I have not stopped using the bathroom, all day and throughout the night, if i eat or drink anything I have to run to the bathroom within minutes and I have pains and bloatiness in my stomache. this has never happened before when I take the medication. I am afraid to leave the house and I have lost 5 lbs. any suggestions?
stool softeners need to be taken. I just LOVED Zelnorm, and was very upset when it was taken away. I've been using an herbal colon cleanse tablet every night, but one is apparently NOT enough. Two are too much. I was not aware there are drugs available for IBS with constipation since Zelnorm. Once I was given IBS meds for DIARRHEA, and THAT was disastrous. I want to thank you for your input and making me realize the obvious: my current methods aren't working! I NEEDED TO HEAR THAT!
When I first got diagnosed I noticed I started gaining weight. Once I was diagnosed I was put on Zelnorm and that seemed to help me and my body to "act normally" and I stopped gaining weight. I have always been very active...I work out 6 days a week doing cardio and weight training. I also watch what I eat very closely and count my calories every day. Like I said, with my diet and exercise and the Zelnorm (I think), I was able to lose any weight I had gained.
I became really concerned when last summer I was looking to loose weight for my wedding so I started calorie counting (1500/day) and going to the gym 5 times a week doing 45 mins of cardio and 15 mins of weight training. I continued to gain weight . I have had my thyroid checked and it is normal. I also have slightly high cholesterol and fatty liver which seems highly abnormal to me as I am not a big meat eater or fat eater.
There does not seem to be much available for my gastroparesis, since Reglan made me sick, Amitiza is not covered by my insurance, and I have no idea if Novardis will accept me to go on Zelnorm. All this and I am only 22 and my 19 year old brother also has gastroparesis. What do you do to deal with gastroparesis and its effects? Any recommendations?
My husband has been experiencing nausea and vomiting (more so nausea) now for over 4 years. He was told he had some stomach erosion and was placed on protonix, with no results. He was told he had over 30 allergies to food and I was wondering should my he be seing an Allergy MD. Diagnosed with - GERD, IBS - but the purple pill or zelnorm treated the problem.
I have recently have been diagnosed with Diabetic enteropathy of the colon and my Gastroenterologist has prescribed Zelnorm for this condition.Has this medication been effective in treating Diabetic enteropathy snd what are the gratest side effects? Thank you.
I have had every test available for constipation and intestinal pain. The last time I had a normal bm? I lost track. Too long to remember. Frankly, I am not even sure why I am typing this. Total desperation? Thinking of wasting more time at ER? I would love to go over there and sit for hours so I can be told to eat more fruit.
I have also been diagnosed with IBS, and have tried Phenobarbitol, Dycyclomine, and a few other meds. Dycyclomine is the only medication that I have found that works, most of the time. I am not sure what your diet is, but after 10 years I am sure you have discovered that staying away from certain foods also helps, especially coffee or anything spicy.
This looks like "official" matter. What meds are in question?

IBS is not a disease at all, and there's no drugs for IBS, as I know (my opinion). Zelnorm was even withdrawn from the (U.S.) market last year, now it might be back again.
He put me on Zelnorm and I was free of everything I went to the bathroom easy!! I ate anything I wanted!! They took it off the market ( dahhh I told him that too) And then He left me hanging, started talking about a hernia in my throat. NOT my constipation! Iam doomed here. I was in shape and toned and now Im a blob. Go to a Natural Doctor and get help there. don't take
laxatives! All the things I was taking are from a doctors say so!
A recent bout of gastroparesis return required a repeat of hospitalizations, dehydration, renal failure etc. I restarted my domperidone after reglan nor erythromycin worked. I also took amitiza aftyer zelnorm went off market. Supposedly I went into CHF due to tyhe Domperidone & a cardiac issue, ICU , adrenal glands shut down, kidneys didn't work. This was miserable I ended up on massive steroids weight gain blah, blah , blah.
Treatment includes addition of more fiber in your diet,cessation of smoking and taking stress,antispasmodic medicines,antidiarrheal medicines,antidepressants and new medicines like Alosetron (Lotronex) and Tegaserod (Zelnorm).I would suggest a gastroenterologist’s view on this.

Now five years later my left side of my body stomach down is mildly numb and
tingles with very bad spots of shooting pain and always some
mild pain in the heal, inner foot, outer leg, hamstring in the butt and severe unexplained constipation (on Zelnorm ((until discontuned)), now Amitiza), and mild arm pain, chest pains etc. I also get very bad itching or tingling of the scrotum, left side only and anal itching or tingling, left side only.
During the day, there is no pain or any awareness, but at night, while lying down, I can hardly get any rest and bothers me all night.
ve been experiencing intense pain from my neck and shoulders, including feet, ankles, legs, knees, and joints. Including between shoulder blades. All exacerbated by over extending myself. I'm also under a huge amount of stress due to a very ill 89 year old Mama 600 miles away, making travel a MUST! In consideration of all my PAST cardiology experience, I'm wondering if my new MD in this state is not taking these into account.
(I have tried Mirilax, Amitiza, Zelnorm and Dulcolax to no avail) I was also tested for celiacs and that came up negative.
I went to my OB/GYN and planned surgery for this month thinking that the pain (on my left hand side, right under my ribs) and by my ovaries, too could be the cysts but yesterday i hit bottom.
I woke up and I felt a throbbing pain under my ribs. I ran to pee and it took me 45 minutes to poop scary black tarry stools.
I have recently been diagnosed w/Gastroperesis. means slow emptying stomach. My doctor have tried all kind of medications for this but non suites me I have serious side effects to Reglan,the only modern medication treats Gastroperesis. Somebody advice me to try Ayurvedic(Herbal) or Homeopathic medication, which doesn't have side effects and much reliable than modern medicines. I read that you lose weight with this but I am gaining weight.
I've been diagnosed with crohn's for a little over 4 and 1/2 years and for the past couple days I have been very constipated. II have pooped very little yesterday and today but it is very painful. I feel like I'm walking around with bricks in my stomach. I've been taking stool softeners for the past few days and took stool softeners with laxative in it about an hour or so ago.
I am on a no fiber diet and all fiber bothers my stomach greatly.
