Avatar m tn I have chronic hepatitis B and been using Viread and Zeffix. ALT has been normal, HBV DNA has been negative and HBeAg has been positive recently. Now I am post-doctoral researcher in Paris and applied to temporary residence permit in Paris for 1-year without work permit. I have been working in an institution in my country and I can benefit from our social security system through the consulate. Namely, I do not need social security in France.
Avatar n tn "The advantage of interferon is that you can stop treatment in some patients. And certainly with 12 months treatment about 15-20 percent of patients would have a sustained response with two years treatment." >>>do i need to continue? What will happen if i stop? I think with interferon treatment if you reach your goal, the response stays.
Avatar f tn if you have taken zeffix (lamivudine) even if for short periods you might have developped hbv mutations baraclude (entecavir) doesn t work if there are lamivudine mutations and makes other untreatable mutations the best choice is tenofovir which makes no mutations, so i suggest to take both entecavir and tenofovir for 2-3 months and then stop entecavir these antivirals cannot be stopped all at once so you must combo for sometimes, you must check hbvdna while making these changes because it is
Avatar f tn Lamivudine aims at controlling the replication of HBV-DNA. Its percentage at changing HBsAg(+) to HBsAg(-) and HBsAB(-) to HBsAB(+) is between 1% and 2%.
Avatar m tn Doctor then prescribed lamivudine which I used for 3 months and discontinued. In 2014 I did a pcr and result was 700iu/ml, 2015 pcr was 1380iu/ml and just did another 3 days ago with result 101000 iu/ml, which prompted me to see a doctor. He prescribed for me lamivudine 100mg for 6months. My question is, is this the appropriate drug considering I have used this drug 10 yrs ago and also considering other combination options available today.

Avatar m tn Firstly I was treated with zeffix (Lamivudine) in 3 years and then the doctor stopped the treatment. In 3,4 years later, My disease became re-active. The doctors continued the treatment and I had to take medicine again. In the first 3 years, I took Lamivudine + Hepsera. Recently I have eaten Lamivudine + Tenofovir. Now my HBsAg (Abbott Architect - Quantity) is reduced to 3.92. It is really good to hear that I probably get serocoversion. I am in Vietnam now. I have been with Ms. Thuy - Ph.
Avatar m tn Since then, I have been taking Zeffix (Lamivudine). Recently my doctor decided to put me on Viread (Tenofovir) instead. As I have read, some people are experiencing bone density loss due to Tenofovir therapy. Is it advisable that I start taking supplements like calcium and vitamin D along with my therapy to prevent bone loss? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Viread and Baraclude) is overstated; many patients develop no resistance at all, and the resistance rate, while higher than those for Viread/Baraclude, is not that much higher. Plus, if you do develop resistance, that's when you should start taking Viread (as mono or combo, he didn't say). And Viread is very effective in stopping Hepsera resistance. Recommendation: continue on Hepsera; no Viread until resistance is definitely found.
Avatar m tn One of the three patients was participating in a famciclovir trial and the other two were receiving lamivudine therapy for active hepatitis B infection. All three patients had documented hepatitis B flares, and all had hepatitis B virus DNA detected at that time. All patients developed decompensated liver disease despite one patient having had a prior liver biopsy showing absence of cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn Lamivudine 150 is meant for HIV patients or patients coinfected with HBV and HIV.Only Lamivudine 100 is usually prescribed for hepatitis b patients. But whatever be the dosage its not at all safe to be treated with lam. due to its high risk of resistance associated with it.Moreover it is also very weak as compared to the newer medicines like entecavir and tenofovir. You should change your doctor and see to it that your new doctor prescribes you entecavir/tenofovir.
Avatar f tn Zeffix = Lamivudine is known to have poor resistance profile. If your wife has to take it for long, she is likely to develop resistance, which is not good. Ask her doctor about entecavir, which has much less resistance problem.
Avatar m tn Lamivudine was less effective than adefovir in lamivudine-resistant patients and less effective than telbivudine in HBeAg-positive patients. Limited evidence suggested that HBV DNA clearance was maintained at followup off therapy ranging from 18-24 weeks after interferon alfa-2b, lamivudine, or adefovir administration. HBeAg loss was assessed in 35 trials. HBeAg clearance off treatment was demonstrated for interferon alfa- 2b.
Avatar m tn maybe because of that also some doctors still prescribe Lamivudine like first line of therapy. I just spoke with somebody that doctor prescribe Lamivudine treatment for her and also for the children (2 years old). She took lamivudine for 1.5 year (0.5 year combo with interferon) and drop from couple of milions to 1000 copy and the children (lamivudine mono) clera the infection and seroconvert to HbsAb.
