Avatar f tn birth control does make you gain weight. i hear it's as much as 5- 15 lbs!
Avatar m tn Is there any difference in the contraception effectiveness of Yaz in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome? If so what are they?
Avatar f tn I had switched to yaz because orthotricyclen made me so moody. Well Yaz made me gain weight and I stopped taking it anyway because my husband and I wanted to try and have a baby in the near future anyway. Well after stopping yaz I have got rapid heart beat, dizziness, shaking, feeling of numbness. They had to call 911 at work because I turned pale white and numb.
Avatar f tn I have been taking YAZ for about nine months and have recently decided to go off birth control all together. I stopped taking the pills about three weeks ago and I have been bleeding on and off ever since. I'm wondering if this is normal and will go away or if I should start taking the pills again, or maybe switch to a different birth control. I'm also concerned because I don't want to start a new birth control routine and gain more weight. What should I do!? Please help!
Avatar n tn i was on the yaz and i didnt gain weight i actually lost weight!! but i had got prego on it! so now i with the mirena ! i beleive if you find yourself craving then just control it and eat healthy meals 3x a day and snack healthy 2x a day and excersise 3-4 time a week you should be fine!
Avatar f tn I went off Yaz and started to notice weight gain after a few months, in about 2 years I gained a little over 40 lbs. I am absolutely miserable. I've tried dieting, exercising, and nothing has happened. I don't fit into any clothes, I hate my body and I have no idea what else to do. I had my hormone levels tested and my testosterone is a little high (45pg/ml).
Avatar m tn In the beginning when I was taking it, I had lost weight and noticed that i barely has problems with my cysts on my ovaries. It seemed to have shrunken them.I was doing fine for about a year, and stopped taking the pill. Then I got back on it a year later, and started having major signs of depression, weight gain, and just a change in my hormones. I use to be the bubbliest happiest person in the world before I started taking this pill.
Avatar n tn Hi have been on the combined birth pill since I was 13.5 years old due to irregular and heavy periods. I came off 3 times to fall pregnant, which I did the month straight after eg off pill period then fell. Each time the mini pill wasn't strong enough to control the bleeding. A year a ago I was on a pill and I thought that my anxiety and weight was an issue so I changed to the Yaz combined pill. My anxiety and weight haven't changed.
1416408 tn?1282230588 Some people do gain weight, while others do not. If you find yourself gaining weight, bring it to the doctors attention as there are a variety of pills to choose from. But not taking it, will cause a big weight gain and a permanent change in your future plans.
Avatar m tn I have tried several types of birth control to help with this and of course they do regulate the periods, but they are never less intense and the other side effects of the pill (nausea, weight gain, constant mood swings) are always so severe that I honestly would rather just have the irregular periods.
Avatar f tn I've always had good luck with Yaz and Yasmin. Yaz has fewer side effects and most people can tolerate it and it works. However- everyone's body is different, and until they get the hormone balance right, you could have spotting, etc. I can say, that most likely- there is a pill out there that you could tolerate. Good luck.
Avatar n tn got way longer on it- I used to only bleed for 4 days on Aleese, then gradually this increased and due to weight gain and water retention switched to Yasmin...well after a year on that I was bleeding for 8 to 9 days (still bleeding even while taking the 'active' pills) also I started getting cramps and what not and my dr kept saying that should not be happening since you only have a withdrawal bleed...
Avatar f tn I'm on something called Dianette, which is something you can get in the UK, not sure about the states...it controls the systimatic bleeding that I used to suffer from and my polycystic ovarian syndrome. As for weight gain I'm with you there...
869854 tn?1239978206 Mood swings, irritability, low sex drive, trouble sleeping, weight gain, confusion, hard to focus etc etc. I feel like I have all the syptoms of peri-menopause but my she claims there is no way to accurately check my hormones as they change daily and hourly. I feel hopeless so she mentioned that studies have shown the pill and also anxiety and depression meds can help the hormonal changes and regulate my moods and newly changing menstural cycle.
Avatar f tn I used to take YAZ a long time ago. Got pregnant and had a miscarriage. If I were you I would stop taking YAZ. It's been all over TV on how bad it is for you. Look it up. YAZ is the worst birth control out there and has done a lot of damage. I switched to the NUVA RIng. No weight gain, no chemicals, stays in for one month. I take mine out during intercourse, but it's still affective for three hours.
358971 tn?1330888975 I asked about metformin and she said that it was a dangerous drug and some actually gain weight on it (not what i need!). She said PCOS would be helped by YAZ b/c because it would trick my body into thinking it doesn't need to produce estradiol which will lower my levles, which right now are high, and that it will balance out progesterone.
1674462 tn?1304114750 I did not gain any weight and did not have any bloating with the pill. I loved it. I was put on the pill at 16 due to severe menstrual cramping. I def. recommend that pill.
Avatar f tn I hate to disagree with your OB but I do. Yaz and any estrogen product will effect the function of your thyroid and other hormones. I do not at all recommend being on any of these products. There are numerous studies available on this - and you should take it upon yourself to read up more on this. WAs the reason for Yz given b/c of something other than birth control? http://thyroid.about.com/cs/drugdatabase/f/estrogen.
737515 tn?1252552423 I have had severe anxiety problems before and they are terrible. I am sorry that you are having trouble with them & finding a birth control that works. I would NOT recommend YAZ...it's the only birth control that has had truly debilitating effects on my mood. I've experienced depression, anxiety, headaches, weird breathing/yawning side effects, you name it...
Avatar n tn Hi there, I may be able to advise the exact treatment only after I examine you. There are many new pills available in the market with lesser side effects of weight gain, mood changes etc.Birth control pill containing Drospirenone and ethinylestradiol may be helpful since they have lesser side effects. Drink plenty of water everyday and avoid oily fried foods to prevent acne. For more queries and assistance do consult your gynecologist before starting any new pill. Keep me posted.
Avatar n tn I new it had to be the culprit. I never considered mirena, or, any iud for that matter, could cause weight gain because it does not go into the blood stream. Before this i was using Yaz and was steadily loosing weight on a good eating and exercise plan. I just went today, day 11 and had it removed. Does anyone know how long it will take to loose this weight? I can't believe the amount of weight i have gained in 10 days!! Any suggestions would be great!
Avatar f tn I've not had any problems with Yaz or Loestrin 24. I'm on Loestrin right now because Yaz made me pretty low emotionally. However, I think because they are so low dose pills, they shouldn't cause such a problem. I've heard bad thinkgs about Seasonal/ique, though. I dunno. I take Loestrin continiously and haven't had an issue, I don't see why you would bother with a pill specifically marketed as "less periods" when you can have them with any.
Avatar f tn I am a 140 lb, 5'4", 23-year-old female. My weight fluctuates a lot (30 lbs), but I have been at the same weight for about 2 years now. I am not eating poorly I am not extremely stressed, I just started working out again in January (medium exercise for around an hour a day) and I have not been sexually active since January 2012. However, I have not had my period in over a year.
Avatar f tn i also am having bad side effects with mirena. i got mine out on wed. i didnt gain weight but i am having trouble losing it and at 26 years old i look like im 14 because im covered with acne. i havent had my period for almost 3 years. now i started having hot flashes and found on here that alot of girls started early menopause with the mirena.
689528 tn?1364135841 Could it have changed since I stopped taking birth control? I have had issues with my weight and do not want to gain. I would like to actually tone up a little. Is it possible that it can go back and forth? Will I ever be hyperactive again?
