birth control does make you gain weight. i hear it's as much as 5- 15 lbs!

This is my first week on these two medications. I was told that I have PCOS a week ago. I was wondering what side effects you have had from these drugs. Over the past year, I have gained 50 pounds by changing nothing at all. This gain happened while I was doing 1.5 hr cardio a day with weights & eating around 800 calories. (5'4, 160 now). My Dr. told me that Metformin would help with lowering my weight.Yet, I'm now on Yaz.

I had switched to yaz because orthotricyclen made me so moody. Well Yaz made me gain weight and I stopped taking it anyway because my husband and I wanted to try and have a baby in the near future anyway. Well after stopping yaz I have got rapid heart beat,dizziness,shaking,feeling of numbness. They had to call 911 at work because I turned pale white and numb.

I have been taking YAZ for about nine months and have recently decided to go off birth control all together. I stopped taking the pills about three weeks ago and I have been bleeding on and off ever since. I'm wondering if this is normal and will go away or if I should start taking the pills again, or maybe switch to a different birth control. I'm also concerned because I don't want to start a new birth control routine and gain more weight. What should I do!? Please help!

i was on the yaz and i didnt gain weight i actually lost weight!! but i had got prego on it! so now i with the mirena ! i beleive if you find yourself craving then just control it and eat healthy meals 3x a day and snack healthy 2x a day and excersise 3-4 time a week you should be fine!

I went off Yaz and started to notice weight gain after a few months, in about 2 years I gained a little over 40 lbs. I am absolutely miserable. I've tried dieting, exercising, and nothing has happened. I don't fit into any clothes, I hate my body and I have no idea what else to do. Some people do gain weight, while others do not. If you find yourself gaining weight, bring it to the doctors attention as there are a variety of pills to choose from. But not taking it, will cause a big weight gain and a permanent change in your future plans.

A year a ago I was on a pill and I thought that my anxiety and weight was an issue so I changed to the Yaz combined pill. My anxiety and weight haven't changed. I have never had trouble with weight until this past 2 years and although I am watching what I eat and exercise 3 times a week nothings is working. I also get extremely lethargic the week before my period and this has been since my last child 10 years ago. Is there any pill out there that will help?

I have tried several types of birth control to help with this and of course they do regulate the periods, but they are never less intense and the other side effects of the pill (nausea, weight gain, constant mood swings) are always so severe that I honestly would rather just have the irregular periods.

As i always have spotting for 1 whole month.And i even gain weight,and double my size.After that injection,i took diane35 pills..But im encountering vomiting,headache and nausea.I had my period last Oct.26,Can someone give me an advise on what is the possible pills i should take,the one who have lesser side-effects?

got way longer on it- I used to only bleed for 4 days on Aleese, then gradually this increased and due to weight gain and water retention switched to Yasmin...well after a year on that I was bleeding for 8 to 9 days (still bleeding even while taking the 'active' pills) also I started getting cramps and what not and my dr kept saying that should not be happening since you only have a withdrawal bleed...

Mood swings, irritability, low sex drive, trouble sleeping, weight gain, confusion, hard to focus etc etc. I feel like I have all the syptoms of peri-menopause but my she claims there is no way to accurately check my hormones as they change daily and hourly. I used to take YAZ a long time ago. Got pregnant and had a miscarriage. If I were you I would stop taking YAZ. It's been all over TV on how bad it is for you. Look it up. YAZ is the worst birth control out there and has done a lot of damage. I switched to the NUVA RIng. No weight gain, no chemicals, stays in for one month. I take mine out during intercourse, but it's still affective for three hours.

If i come off it I think I will go mental (as i have tried before) I have heard alot of bad things about YAZ and I was also told that BCP are not responsible for weight gain. If you are gaining weight I would ask for another Ultrasound to see if you have any cysts. I totally understand how you feel. I was always around 120-130 but since this endo business I seem to fluctuate between 140-155. I cant stand it and I have lots and lots of cellulite. It is so depressing I do agree with you.

She said PCOS would be helped by YAZ b/c because it would trick my body into thinking it doesn't need to produce estradiol which will lower my levles, which right now are high, and that it will balance out progesterone.

However, it has made me gain weight and be bloated all the time. This is not okay, so I definitely need to switch again because I cannot afford to buy all new clothes in the next size up. What should I ask my dermatologist for next? Yaz and Desogen have also not worked out for me in the past. I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks!!

I new it had to be the culprit. I never considered mirena, or, any iud for that matter, could cause weight gain because it does not go into the blood stream. Before this i was using Yaz and was steadily loosing weight on a good eating and exercise plan. I just went today, day 11 and had it removed. Does anyone know how long it will take to loose this weight? I can't believe the amount of weight i have gained in 10 days!! Any suggestions would be great!

I am a 140 lb, 5'4", 23-year-old female. My weight fluctuates a lot (30 lbs), but I have been at the same weight for about 2 years now. I am not eating poorly I am not extremely stressed, I just started working out again in January (medium exercise for around an hour a day) and I have not been sexually active since January 2012. I think your just spotting, instead of having a real period you will most likely have a spotting kind of period.or no period.at all thats exactly what the lolo does. Thats most of the cases while using the lolo. Thats why most women loove it. Wait until the last of the month to take a test and if it cmes out negative then you are not pregnant. Just keep taking the pill and if you arent planning on having a baby keep using it .

Google mirena side effects and make a decision on whether or not you want to keep it but do it quick before you gain more weight that will be hard to lose! Also they cant find my strings anymore so I will have to have a special procedure to remove it! If you decide you want it out, don't let them tell you mirena is not the cause because it is.

Could it have changed since I stopped taking birth control? I have had issues with my weight and do not want to gain. I would like to actually tone up a little. Is it possible that it can go back and forth? Will I ever be hyperactive again?
