yaz

Avatar n tn m new to the community, see you posted last month. I was on Yasmin, I think its related to Yaz but not the same for about two years. I had some really odd symptoms with Yasmin and begged my dr to take me off of it, since then I was on Apri, which is just generic desogen.
Avatar f tn I have dedicated a support group website for women and girls who have previously or currently taking Yaz/Yasmin Birth Control. Please take a moment to view webiste, YazForum and post your experience while taking this medication. We need to hear your stories to make others aware of this birth control.
484167 tn?1210001396 ok i need some help here...i was on yaz for about 10 months when my periods started going hay-wire...like i would get a period in the middle of my cycle and not get my period while taking the"reminder pills"...my dr. gave me yasmin since i guess the level of estrogen is a little stronger...i have been taking it for over a week...i feel pregnant. my body feels just like it did when i was pregnant and i don't remember feeling this way at all when i started the yaz almost a year ago.
Avatar n tn I have heard about Yaz and Yasmin causing more of a risk for blood clots in women....BUT (yes there is a but) almost all birth control pills can cause blood clots especialy if you have had them before, or have had a family history of them. If your nurse wants you to switch to a genric then you can still take Yasmin (but it would be Ocella). It's the same thing.
Avatar n tn Has anyone who has taken either yaz or yazmin been diagnosed with a pheochromocytoma? These drugs are known to cause this tumor in animal models and my daughter was diagnosed with one after taking this drug. Just trying to find out if this has happened to others or if there is a connection.
Avatar f tn No they are not the same. Yasmin or Ocella is a lower dose of birth conrtol, while Yaz is prescribed more often to those who suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder). Yasmin is one of the best birth control pills out there for those who suffer with PCOS. I've been on it for 2 years, with a break of 6 months. I just started a new pill pack this month again. I too suffer from migraines, but the pill does not give me any.
869854 tn?1239978206 I just started to take yasmin not yaz and hope this helps me. I have been off the pill for years. I had no luck with the copper iud for 4 years hormone free but the bleeding never go less and the duration never did either. The nuva ring made me depressed tried that for 4 mnths after the iud. I am 39 and my hormones are changing greatly my which they say can happen at this age. my normal periods all my life are changing to every 21 day last period came 109 days later. My GYNsuggeseted the pill.
Avatar n tn Watch out for Yaz. I'm 42 but a fitness nut, a non-smoker who's thin and active with no family history of any kind of clotting problems. I was on Yaz for six months before developing bilateral pulmonary emboli. I was in ICU for 3 days, the hospital for 2 more and am on blood thinners until October. My hematologist hasn't found a thing that predisposes me to clotting. Look around the internet. It seems like there is an unusually high number of life-threatening Yaz problems.
1313343 tn?1274833215 and its YASMIN im talken about YAZ and YASMIN are 2 different birth control pills!
Avatar f tn I too have been taking Yaz for 5 cycles now and I have experienced the same bloating you are talking about. I am a very athletic person and I run almost 70 miles a week. Before Yaz I was skinny 5'3 110lbs and I didn't have much of a tummy at all.I am still the same weight but now I look almost pregnant, and i am positive i am not, but my stomach sticks out so much from bloating and it is making me miserable as well. I just want it to go away.
1761691 tn?1313171747 I want to stop using ortho tricyclin lo and switch to yasmin. I just started ortho a week ago but want to stop because the side effects I cant take anymore. (I have given it 3 months). When can I start Yasmin? Do I have to wait for my period?
Avatar n tn I was on YAZ for about a year without any "side effects", until the last two months. I've had out of cycle bleeding (mostly spotting) before my period. The doctor switched me to Yasmin, which has a higher dose of estrogen. She said that'd stop the spotting. So far.. so good. But she said it's not uncommon w/ YAZ to have these issues. Hope that helps.
1051017 tn?1349636853 I have only been taking Yasmin for a few days now however, I seem to be getting some strange side effects. I keep having these short sort of dizzy spells. I don't actually lose conciousness. I just feel as if I'm dreaming for a second or two. Also I do smoke but am currently trying to give up. Since starting Yasmin, the smell of smoke and smoking itself has become nauseating. Thats also another one to add. Nausea and hot flashes. Also I've lost some of my sense of taste.
Avatar m tn I am going through the same thing right now. I have been on Yaz for over a half a year. I'm not sure if it is the Yaz causing it or something else. I dont know of Yaz having that sort of a side effect. Sorry I cant help much.
Avatar f tn If you have been taking your pill every day and not skipping any pills OR on any antibiotics you should be fine. Your period can be very light on a bc pill. Is it possible that you get Yasmin and not Yas on your last refill? (or generic version) That could explain the lighter period and headaches. The brown is basically old blood.
473222 tn?1214439873 Reading all of the posts on another part of this forum elated to yasmin and yaz is very scary. My life has been seriously affected by taking yasmin for four years. If I only knew back then what I know now. Please consider the long term effects of taking any birth control pill, not just yasmin or yaz. They primarily work by putting your ovaries to sleep. The pill shuts down your own natural production of hormones and replaces them with lab manufactured hormones.
Avatar f tn I have been on it for almost five years, taking a 2 year break to have my baby and now I am back on it. However, I started Yaz after my baby was born and hated it, so I got back on Yasmin!
Avatar n tn You could also talk to you doctor about switching to Yaz.. When I took Yaz I never had a period.. my doctor said this was fine.. that in ppl yaz will either shorten your period to a day/two.. or take it away completely. .. .. your doctor would know best!
Avatar m tn i had the same problems with Yaz. I was on yasmin and when asking for more from my doctor she accidenty wrote yas...not yasmine so i tried it for a few months. it was horrible. I become very depressed and moody, gained weight, had bad acne, and become very paranoid. I switched to levora which i've been on ever since ( 3yrs). My symptoms all went away once i stopped taking Yaz. I'm not sure if it would take 4 months of your hormones to regulate...
Avatar f tn Your symptoms sound very much like what I went through on Yaz. Both Yasmin and Yaz have a different kind of progestin than other bcps. I was on Yaz for six months, and started having anxiety attacks about once a month. Then after I quit I felt better for a while, but it seems like at 3 months off and six months off things would get worse for a period of time. Like Ginger said above, you may need to try to take extra care of yourself: taking vitamins, eating healthy, exercise and rest.
Avatar n tn It is unusual for it to act that fast but Yaz can have the side effect of lightening or stopping the period all together but from what I understand it is after at least a month but your body may react differently to the medication a doctors opinion would be the best advice.
Avatar m tn I've been taking Topamax 50mg-100mg daily and I have been also taking Yasmin. The two were told to me to be ineffective when used together, so I've been using a back up method of condoms. I'm unhappy with this so my OBGYN switched me to Zovia, which I do not like. My question is, could YAz and Topamax at 50-100mg, be taken together?
Avatar f tn I've always had good luck with Yaz and Yasmin. Yaz has fewer side effects and most people can tolerate it and it works. However- everyone's body is different, and until they get the hormone balance right, you could have spotting, etc. I can say, that most likely- there is a pill out there that you could tolerate. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Yes I have come off yaz completely (thankgod) I have been on the brand Loett for a little over a week now. By unprotected I mean no condom however I was still on the pill Loett. I'm just paranoid because I switched brands if it would still have me covered or if it takes a while to sink in?
