Avatar f tn So I hear (and I have also read) that yasmin is AWESOME for women with PCOS.. Any comments? I am about to switch from alesse to yasmin but I am nervous because there have been many birth control pills that give me uncontrollable mood swings, anxiety and depression. Alesse has been okay for me, not the best, but ok. Does anyone else experience this when they take birth control pills? I think that it is related very closely to PCOS.
Avatar n tn Now my face breaks out all the time, and that adds to my depression and feeling bad about myself. This past week was the worst, I started my period and got so emotional I started crying while I was driving down the highway, for no reason. I had 2 panic attacks (never had one before) and I kept having thoughts I was going to die. I would never commit suicide, but I am always feeling anxious.
Avatar n tn hi, I'm currently on Yasmin, to control my heavy periods. I've been on the pill for about a year and a half. Recently I'm becoming more and more irritated, anxious and angry. Last week I had an "episode" ( not sure what else to call it) but I completely freaked out. Now I am only 21. Basically what happened was I couldn't find the car key, and I kept calling my mother but she wouldn't answer her cellphone.
869854 tn?1239978206 I feel hopeless so she mentioned that studies have shown the pill and also anxiety and depression meds can help the hormonal changes and regulate my moods and newly changing menstural cycle. I was so looking forward to turning 40 up until 5 months ago when my mood just shifted.
Avatar f tn I would say to try the pill out for a few months, like 3 UNLESS your symptoms get worse. The body needs time to adjust to any bcp and 3 months is the normal. I'm on Yasmin too and never had any problems with it. Yasmin is one of the top bcp that is given to woman with pcos because most woman can tolerate it better then other bcp. The only thing I've found while taking Yasmin (and I think this goes for ALL bcp) it raises my blood pressure a little.
Avatar f tn I take Marvelon21 and have since my surgery 4yrs ago. I am wondering if its the ingredients in the yasmin that could be doing it besides the progestin and estrogen? Where you taking it continuously with the yasmin 21 or the 28 day? MARVELON21 contains the below ingredients Each white, round tablet contains desogestrel 0.15 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.03 mg.
Avatar n tn But I thought I would ask, is anyone that has PCOS symptoms (high testosterone, insulin resistance) and on BCP on any other BCP besides Yasmin, and does it control PCOS symptoms? Have you seen any side effects?
Avatar f tn With all the commercials you see on TV about YAZ and Yasmin and all the problems it has caused, i cant imagine that the positives out weigh the negatives. Currently I am on Levlen birth control, it has the minimum amount of estrogen and it works wonderful! But because everyone is different, i would suggest doing some research on birth control types and find whats best for her, then talk to a doctor about those types you have looked over. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ? My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea. The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.
Avatar f tn I am almost ready to go to the doctor for my depression and anxiety. Then, I started researching my pill (Yaz) and have found that these symptoms are likely related to this pill. I want to stop taking it and my husband is in support of that. However, I have read about terrible side effects from people that stopped, too. Anyone have experiences to share?
Avatar n tn I have been in menopause since I was 23 yr old, now i am 29. I still don't have the swing of it. I was given "yasmin" to help me with my menopause. I am balding and losing so much hair its scary. It is now noticeable and I don't know what to do! I am always tired, depressed and my skin is starting to droop. I would be perfectly fine with aging naturally at the appropriate age but I'm not!
Avatar f tn Due to the pain and the depression I suffered while on Ocella I switched to Reclipsen. I still have slight breast tenderness the week before my period, but it's so slight that it doesn't even bother my that much. Some months, I don't even have the pain at all. Speak to your doctor if the pain doesn't subside during the next few cycles. You may need to switch brands.
Avatar f tn At the end of March I decided to take myself off of them because I was experiencing pretty severe depression and crying spells, which is very unlike me. Everything was bothering me, I was afraid of being alone, had no appetite, my heart would race and the entire world seemed to be falling down around my shoulders. When I stopped taking them I stopped in the middle of a pack and I did start to feel a little better. My appetite came back slowly and my racing heart eventually calmed.
1243620 tn?1274790697 However, if you are going to choose a low-dose mono-phasic pill there is no reason to jump straight to yasmin. Yasmin and Yas are new types of hormones that other pills don't contain, but that does not necessarily mean they are going to be better for everyone. These two are still under "brand" name and therefore will be many more times as expensive for you than another option. I take the generic version of "loestrin FE 1.
Avatar n tn I had laparoscopy done three years ago, but my situation with endometriosis was serious, and after that I started taking Yasmin (i did't felt any side effects that were serious). After the lap, I lost my right ovary, but I am still able to have a baby. So, don't worry about that. Maybe it will be a little bit harder to conceive, but that's it. I know many women that had these kind of problems and had children.
Avatar f tn After being on Marvelon for about 6 months i switched to Yasmin and that swelling went completey away. I was so happy and could finally have a sex life again. Now, just a month ago i've been told that Yasmin is causing strokes in young women and was told to get off it. I have now been put on Alesse and the swelling and pain is back again. I'm not sure what is causing this, but it is clearly something to do with the birth control.
Avatar f tn Im on Yasmin. It helps to regulate my period each month, also helps to protect me against pregnancy at this point too. Yasmin is the only pill I've been on, so I don't know much about Ortho.
Avatar f tn I am 19 and I have the same problem i was on yasmin and blood pressure went high stopped b.c. all together for around 8 months recently got back on it about 3months ago and my blood pressure is around 156/130...I am wondering the same thing perhaps is there any bc that will not make blood pressure high???
Avatar m tn I went to see a Doctor and he ran untra sound test on me and fiound that i have PCOD and he advised me to take Yasmin to first regularised my period which i did, I had no problim during the first month of taking it, I started the second month on 22.12.11 and since 30.12.11 i have been spotted lightly, sometimes i have some blood-like discharge, black and brown colour. Avatar n tn I just started Yasmin for acne, having previously taken Microgynon with no issues. I've only taken Yasmin for about 2 weeks, but I've noticed it seems to be really affecting me. I feel so fatigued, low, lacking motivation and just generally flat. So strange.
Avatar n tn doctor gave me oral contraceptor and it all started after that. since then i am having depression and anxiety. cold hand and feets, headaches, weakness, dizziness, hot flushes, crying spells, lost interest in life, sleep problem, i am having all these symptoms for last 2 years almost every day. i have tried antidepressent, but nothing seems to work. i am over weight , now trying to loose weight. every morning i wake up thinking whats gonna happen today.
Avatar f tn I am also off depo for 14 months now. My dr put me on yasmin for 2 months to regulate my cycle because I didn't have a period. So I have been off yasmin for 7 months now and I have been on and off clomid the past 6 months and it didn't work. Is it possible that the depo shot is causing me not to get pregnant? How long does it actualy take to work out of your system? I've only used it once.
Avatar f tn (on saturday the 9th) And am now on week 3 of yasmin. my period is due this week. Do i continue taking yasmin? or should i stop taking it and start again on the first day of my period?
Avatar f tn 1- Call your physician 2- Expect a lecture about being responsible when taking birth control 3- Keep the appointment if the doctor wants to see you 4- Set that iPhone to remind you to take the Yasmin every day ... and do not skip the regimen. Remember Yasmin does NOT protect you from HIV or other venereal diseases ... if you or your boyfriend have had sexual intercourse ... including non-vaginal sexual contact ... you both need to be tested for HIV and other Venereal Diseases ...
698575 tn?1229608278 Hi. I was on Yasmin three years, after that I was on Zoladex and now I am on Yasmin again. I don't know for sure, but I think that Yasmin prevents ovulation and it makes harder for sperm to reach uterus (it is harder for the fertilized egg to attach to the uterus). I have read this: The primary mechanism of Yasmin is inhibition of ovulation.
Avatar n tn i just began taking yasmin today (never taken birth control before). so just now i began doing my research on yasmin, and it seems that the side effects are crazy! i cant say anything because this is only my day. i know pills work differently for everyone but i am really quite scared. what should i do? anyone have any good stories about yasmin??
