Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal generic or brand

Avatar n tn Protecting the brand has advantages over generic regarding consistency of levels. the generic is levothyroxine". Huh? What on earth does that answer mean? "Protecting"? "consistency of levels?" It sounds like he's saying that the Synthroid is preferable to the generic (but the same as Levoxyl)? Yes? If so, why would a brand name be better than a generic?
Avatar f tn The gel I believe is the name brand and I know some do prefer this one and the other generic some prefer for its even release of medication. The gel or brand name is more powerful I believe but the generic has staying power. Someone will be along shortly and correct me if I am wrong as there are several people here that do use the patch and know the exact differences between the two.
1134609 tn?1269272200 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
Avatar f tn t everyone that comments on taking on or the other mention if they are taking the generic or name brand? I think if they did we would get a much better idea of the differences.
1119036 tn?1259534815 i am currently taking 1mg xanax 3 times a day i go to walgreens and they have the generic brand purepac and i have heard that greenstone brand is so much better i was just wondering if anyone had any feed back .......
645800 tn?1466860955 I have been working on an article about Generic Drug companies. Most of the generic drugs come from companies either owned by Teva or Novartis they are big rivals. Each owns hundreds of smaller companies. The business model owning generic drug companies is you do not have to pay for Research and Development, advertising, and you really can't get sued (the name brands get sued). It is pretty hard to even find out who makes a generic you are on.
874521 tn?1424116797 Your pharmacist will tell you which generic brand your taking. As far as I know only malikroft is allowed to make the generic form of oxycontin. When you get a generic your RX bottle will list the name brand and the generic name under it.
Avatar n tn I feel like going through a Canadian pharmacy would be too much trouble. My doctor and I are filing an appeal to my RX insurance carrier to say that the brand is "medically necessary" so they'll cover it to a higher degree. I'm in the process of that right now but I've got about a month to figure out whether I'm going to save myself $200 and try to trust the generic, or buy the brand name again.
538782 tn?1213809348 I have been told that generic can be off by 30 micrograms either way (more or less) I didn't find that out until I used the generic. On brand name clomid I would produce two good follies and when I went to generic I produced one. So it was either the generic that did it, or my body getting used to the clomid (had been on it for 7 months then switched to generic the 8th month).
Avatar n tn Your question is a bit confusing to me. Are you saying that you had the rash, fatigue, etc.on the generic or a brand name? A rash usually means an allergic reaction. What type of thyroid medication are you on?
1325193 tn?1450127436 I wish I could go back on the brand Lexapro but my insurance says it will be $75 now because the generic is available.
Avatar n tn Xyzal) for my allergies, I skipped it this morning since I was going in for a blood test and urine test, but I did take a dose yesterday. Will Levocetirizine affect the outcome of the test in any way? Thanks in advance!
1378325 tn?1285346625 Oh, meant to say, you get the brand name by telling your psychiatrist to write the prescription for the brand name. You get the generic if they write the prescription for the generic, which they will do automatically generally because it's less expensive and because many insurance plans don't pay for brand names at all if a generic is available.
456333 tn?1206973213 Okay, so is Levoxyl a brand name or generic? I've been on Levoxyl for many years but since I had my TT it doesn't seem to be cutting it. And I'm also very jittery but I thought maybe I was going hper, now it could be the medicine? Should I try Synthroid?
Avatar m tn Ever since I got my female dog fixed she's had problems with holding her urine. At times it will just come out. She was put on a med. from the Vet. Does anyone know of a generic brand or natural one that will do the same. I can't keep going back paying office visits everytime she needs a new med.
979080 tn?1323433639 go to dr in 2 weeks, just started treatment wed night, will know something then, i also have taken it for 1 1/2 months prior to treatment due to denial from ins co for peg/riba. but now all is ok. i first took brand name samples for 1 month but now on the generic.
Avatar n tn I switched from generic to a brand name because my endo insisted on it (I guess we have to pick our battles). At one time or another I've been on Synthroid, Levoxyl and generic, and I saw absolutely no difference between them. However, some people do have issues with fillers, and those vary maufacturer to manufacturer. Interestingly, when my endo switched me from generic to Levoxyl (no dose change) my labs actually got a bit worse, and I had to up my dose of Levoxyl slightly.
Avatar m tn ve been taking the generic for about a week until my new prescription for the brand name arrives. I have had diarrhea for two days. The only thing I've done differently is take the generic drug. Do you think this would be causing the diarrhea? If so should I just not take the medication until the correct prescription arrives?
574118 tn?1305135284 I experience anxiety and I normally take 1 mg at bedtime of generic klonopin. For years now, it's been the generic brand TEVA. I got my refill and for 2 nights now this other brand IPL is not working. So, there is certainly a difference. My doctor said it is possible that due to the fillers or the binders, sometimes they can vary in effectiveness. It's just upsetting. I can't sleep and now have to deal with calling and finding out what to do next.
