It sounds like he's saying that the Synthroid is preferable to the generic (but the same as Levoxyl)? Yes? If so, why would a brand name be better than a generic?

The gel I believe is the name brand and I know some do prefer this one and the other generic some prefer for its even release of medication. The gel or brand name is more powerful I believe but the generic has staying power. Someone will be along shortly and correct me if I am wrong as there are several people here that do use the patch and know the exact differences between the two.

----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.

I have been working on an article about Generic Drug companies. Most of the generic drugs come from companies either owned by Teva or Novartis they are big rivals. Each owns hundreds of smaller companies. The business model owning generic drug companies is you do not have to pay for Research and Development, advertising, and you really can't get sued (the name brands get sued). Oh, meant to say, you get the brand name by telling your psychiatrist to write the prescription for the brand name. You get the generic if they write the prescription for the generic, which they will do automatically generally because it's less expensive and because many insurance plans don't pay for brand names at all if a generic is available.

Okay, so is Levoxyl a brand name or generic? I've been on Levoxyl for many years but since I had my TT it doesn't seem to be cutting it. And I'm also very jittery but I thought maybe I was going hper, now it could be the medicine? Should I try Synthroid?

I switched from generic to a brand name because my endo insisted on it (I guess we have to pick our battles). At one time or another I've been on Synthroid, Levoxyl and generic, and I saw absolutely no difference between them. However, some people do have issues with fillers, and those vary maufacturer to manufacturer. Interestingly, when my endo switched me from generic to Levoxyl (no dose change) my labs actually got a bit worse, and I had to up my dose of Levoxyl slightly.

I experience anxiety and I normally take 1 mg at bedtime of generic klonopin. For years now, it's been the generic brand TEVA. I got my refill and for 2 nights now this other brand IPL is not working. So, there is certainly a difference.
