I began allergy shots, for a month, afterwards I began sneezing up a storm. Developed chronic rhinitis in the process. I've also developed montly infections, non stop since Mar 2018. Was on antibiotics for 4 months straight, last year. This year Feb/March been on antibiotics Amox/Clav. Each time, I complete course of antibiotics, I begin sneezing up a storm !! My eyes feel horrible, swollen, pressure, ithcy, etc....
I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else.

I have been on Xyzal for 5-6 years and had to go off, suddenly, for a week due to allergy testing. I have itched and scratched myself until I have bruises on my legs, arms, and feet! It's absolutely horrible!! :( In response to the other person who replied to you, it's typically NOT an issue to stay on 2nd generation antihistamines, long-term. Nor is it a problem to quit them suddenly EXCEPT (apparently) with Xyzal and Zyrtec (both are Cetirizine-based).
After 8 months of constant hives, lip swelling, eye swelling and finger swelling, i went to an allergist and got prescribed Xyzal. It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed. I was wondering if I could take 2 xyzal a day instead o 1. The only other medication that I am on is ortho cyclin birth control.
t already been teste for thyroid issues, it would be a good idea. My allergist put me on 2 xyzal twice a day, which was way to much. I took two doses and was weak, tired and had panic attacks. I also have celiac disease and am trying to figure out if the xyzal is gluten free. I was taking benadryl. I dont do well with any antihistamines. I was taking Benadryl. There is also an injection you can get.
ve been sick for two months now. It started with a head cold that turned into a sinus infection. I have seen my doctor multiple times and been given antibiotics and a nasal spray. I've also been instructed which over the counter medicines to take. I tried homeopathic avenues too, like a neti pot. This is when I came aware of something called rhinitis of pregnancy.
With my indoor/outdoor enviornmental allergies I had two vials, one for pollens and one for dust mites and mold. It was a total of six shots, 2 every 30 minutes (one in each arm). The injection site only itched for a few minutes and I didn't have any reaction. Not sure if having to take the prednisone yesterday and this moring had anything to do with that or not. I usually don't like prednisone but I only have to take it the day before and the day of my shot so I can get over it.
I have been on 4 rounds of different antobiotics, nasal sprays,mucinex dm, xyzal,delsem, robitussin, prednezone and I also take protonix for gerd. Nothing seems to work I am 37 years old and for the most part have been healthy. I had a chest X-ray last May 07. showed nothing then. Should I be worried.
Please mention this to your allergist or an ent doctor, There is no much the doctors can do for nonallergic rhinitis. I have had this for over 6 years and my face is getting more swollen as each month or year goes by. I look 10-15 yrs. older than what I am and it use to be that I looked younger than what I was. I also have nasal congestion, constant 24/7 post nasal drainage. Most days I wish I was dead, can't stand the thought of living like this the rest of my life.
But since the allergy testing all came back negative, it would seem I only have the non-allergic rhinitis. So I ask again, is it possible for triggers associated with allergic rhinitis to also cause allergic rhinitis? If this is possible then I would be able to agree with my doctor's diagnosis. However if this isn't possible, then it would mean that the allergy testing isn't at all reliable.
Ask you doctor about the Cymbalta one. I had one but it was only for one month. And there are really good one for Xyzal, Astepro and Omnaris. The others, I don't know. Skmedlin's advice was good.
Decongestants may also be helpful in reducing symptoms such as nasal congestion, but they should not be used for long periods. Cromolyn sodium is a nasal spray (Nasalcrom) for treating rhinitis.
It is important to find out whether your rhinitis is allergic or non allergic in nature.If found out to be allergic ,then avoidance of the allergens is the mainstay of treatment.You can confirm it by allergy testing like skin tests and blood tests like RAST.

Hi I have suffered with Rhinitis for years, but it has got to a really bad stage, Post Nasal Drip is causing me a nightmare, coughing, but worst is the chestiness and coughing up of phlegm, I am currently on Flixonaise spray, Montelukast Soduim Tablets, Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Tablets, Alvesco Inhaler Ciclesonide and now just been prescribed a Ventolin Inhlaler. Went to my GP again last week who prescribed a course of Amoxicill 500 mg for a week, these have made me fell far worse.
Used mebhydrolin,cetrizine,fexofenadine, for prophylexis,got result but no complete recovery. Taking mometasone masal spray, got result, but not complete respite. How to get rid of it?
Is there any relationship between weak digestive system and rhinitis. I am having very weak digestive system and cannot digest heavy foods.Pls let me know on the same and can we quantify exactly how effective the digestive system is?
I took XYZal for 4 days for my Fall allergies. Once I stopped, I developed this maddening itching all over!!!! I went to my dermatologist who prescribed hydroxyzine capsules. The meds help somewhat....but also make me tired so I can only take at night!!! I have been suffering for FIVE weeks. Any idea when I can expect this reaction to end?? Or at least some tips on method of relief? PLEASE!!
I have been without my taste for flavors for 9 months now. I have had 3 sinus surgeries in the past, but recent CT shows no blockage. I have allergies and chronic sinusitis. I take zyrtec, singulair, flonase and astepro for the allergies and sinus. My ENT is stumped. How can I get my taste and smell back?
