Avatar f tn I also noticed an exzema rash under my arms and inside my left elbow. The rash under my right arm and left elbow is quite itchy. Why is this happening?
Avatar f tn Her skin improved when we avoided the foods that she was allergic to. When she was 3 1/4 yrs (it was winter) her skin became very itchy and looked like prickly heat and none of the soothing cream helped - the doctor prescribed Elidel - it healed the flare ups but I had to use elidel everyday which we did not prefer.
Avatar n tn Do you still suffer from an itchy and runny nose ? If not, maybe it is time to get off of the xyzal tablets , but you need your doctor's permission and your doctor will tell you the safe way to gradually get off of this medication. Otherwise, there will no doubt be side effects of withdrawing from this medication which you say you have been taking for five years. Another idea is to check out this website : www.drugs.com. This is a great website.
Avatar f tn Hello, Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.
Avatar m tn She can get some steroid cream if the rashes last for a while (it makes them go away faster) and if she gets itchy, something like Xyzal, Zyrtec or Benadryl works well. The steroid cream and Xyzal are by prescripion...Zyrtec and Benadryl are OTC If she finds she's having a problem with most of the commerical soaps, making her own plant-based, oil soap might be a good option. If she wants more info about that, leave a note on my page and I'll be happy to tell her more. Lots of luck!
Avatar n tn Hi, Miliaria, sweat rash or prickly heat, is a skin disease marked by small and itchy rashes. Miliaria is a common ailment in hot and humid conditions, such as in the tropics and during the summer season. It occurs when the sweat gland ducts get plugged due to dead skin cells or bacteria. The trapped sweat leads to irritation or prickling, itching and to a rash of very small blisters, usually in a localized area of the skin.
Avatar n tn cereva) and avoiding his food allergies, but he is still extremely itchy. He is taking xyzal 1cc every 8 hours. It seems to come and go on his own. Is there any safe product for infants to help with the itching. Is Sarna Sensitive safe? some drs say it is ok, some say it isn't safe for babies. Thanks so much. PS is allergic to oats--so oatmeal baths are out!
Avatar f tn Doctor recommended XYZAL. But I went to Pharmacy and the price is HUGE. Pharmacist said that Claranix and ZERTEC are in the same family. I got a shot of dermacort (Prednisone) today and bought Claranix . Waiting for allergy Doc. appointment. Last time I went to allergist, I succumbed to getting allergy drops (like shots, only drops under the tongue). I did that for 2 years. Didn't help. Didn't help stress, heat, chemicals, etc.
Avatar f tn They are itchy. I am not sure what this is...I have hypo-thyroid and also wear shoes and socks everyday. should i be worried?
Avatar f tn My exposed skin turns red, my lips are swollen with allergy and its itchy everywhere. I underwent an allergy test and the dermatologist told that my body has atypical response to common allergens like dust mites and pollen. I am still not satisfied , as i think its mainly due to sun. But what is it? I apply aquaphor to heal the redness and itching. Is there any way i can avoid this? Do i have sun allergy? I have tried sunscreens as well but nothing works?
Avatar n tn http://www.medicinenet.com/simvastatin/article.htm This could be an allergic reaction to the drug. It will stop if the drug is withdrawn. You need to inform your doctor about this development. He might want to substitute it with another. It cannot be a time coincidence unless you had the itching prior to starting the drug. You could apply an anti-itch lotion or cold compresses on the skin to soothe the areas.
Avatar n tn Whatever is going on creates a histamine response in my body where I will break into hives or have extreme itching on my palms or ankles. I take xyzal daily, and this has helped relieve those issues, with exception to vaginal and anal itching! Nothing is visibly wrong in these areas, and I am miserable! Ice can relieve some of that, but I am miserable! My husband and son are now also complaining about similar symptoms.... what could this be? Also, skin is not normal...
Avatar f tn I have been on many type of antibiotics, use a saline rinse 2-3 times a day, take Nasonex, Astepro, Xyzal, Singulair and headache medicine. Some days are better than other but most days are constant pain, numbness, throbbing. A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large.
Avatar f tn I've used the same type of make-up and face-wash for three years. I went on a vacation to south america, and while i was there, I got sick. I continued wearing make-up and face-wash while I was sick, and ever since, my eyelids get swollen a lot. They swell whenever I use face-wash, make-up, shampoo, conditioners, or any lotions, even if not on the affected area! Even the "for sensitive skin" and hypoallergic products make my face swell.
Avatar f tn After 8 months of constant hives, lip swelling, eye swelling and finger swelling, i went to an allergist and got prescribed Xyzal. It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed. I was wondering if I could take 2 xyzal a day instead o 1. The only other medication that I am on is ortho cyclin birth control.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar n tn No matter what time I go to bed, 10pm, 1am, 3am and take my Xyzal and Flucin-cream, I have for the past 6 days woke up between 7:43 and 7:48 am. No alarm, no usual schedule of that, nothing. My current dermotologist takes over a month to get into, and he seems convinced that its an allergy thing and wants to run a allergy test on me. I think it has nothing to do with allergies.
Avatar f tn I suggest you to consult an allergist and get allergy tests like skin allergy tests( skin ***** and patch tests) and blood tests like RAST done. If it is due to an allergic reaction, then prevention of that allergen is the best treatment. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn No I just started the xyzal and Singulair 2 months ago and I've taken Concerta for 6 years now. The fever has been for 1.5years. I also asked allergist and she said that shouldn't be causing it. The cough we think is from allergy drainage because I live in the south and allergies are bad. The blurry vision started couple months after the new meds and Dr's don't think that there is any connection there, but thanks for the comment. Let me know if you have anymore suggestions! !

Avatar n tn These are the two most common reasons for a widespread reaction like yours. Pollens and plants (nettles, poison ivy, poison oak, and so on) as well as Insect bites or stings could also be responsible for this rash. You can take anti-histamine medications for the rash. The extent of the rash will affect the time taken for it to heal. Continue this medication for a week to ten days. You can also apply a mild Corticosteroid ointment to alleviate the rash.
Avatar m tn Hello, I suffer from Chondromalacia in both my knees and my orthopedic told me to try HA knee injections. I already did 2 injections from the 3 i will in both my knees. The first injection i noticed after 2 days skin rashes and fealing a heat below my skin all over my body. well i didn't thought that it had to do with HA. The second injection a week after i had the same from the day after the injection. He told me not to proceed with the third as this is dangerous.
Avatar n tn I did not take amoxicillin or anything like that for the EBV. My doctor did give me Xyzal for lightheadedness that I've been having lately and I did notice it made a difference with the hives. I have so many issues going on right now, I don't know what has to do with what. My allergy test is this Thursday and if I have any hives during the appointment, I will make sure to show them to the allergist.
Avatar n tn Sometime in August last year, I had insect bites, and my skin bulged and became irritated coz of those. My allergologist said I was allergic to the insect bites. about 3 months after, I had urticaria wheals, first time I got those, and I was hospitalized. Since then, my urticaria wheals have been appearing almost daily. They're worse when I'm in airconditioned rooms, and after physical exercise. Apparently, I now have cold urticaria and cholinergic urticaria.
