Eye will not even hold one drop. Xalatan has a perservative BAK that can irritate eye. Discuss with your ophthalmologist. You may need switched to Travatan Z which is both stronger and gentler on the eye. The IOP in your eye changes hourly so there is no "safe" IOP.

Your glaucoma could worsen if you stop taking the medications for a year.

On a different topic , can the long term use of glaucoma eye drops such as Xalatan , azarga cause any serious or vision threathening problems or is that not really possible, thanks

Dear Sir, I have retina detachments in both eyes after surgeries I had eye pressure problems but on last visit to doctor on wednesday my eye pressure were normal 14 (Right eye) and 9 (Left Eye) I am using using Cospt, Alphagan, Xalatan( Twice a day and Pilocarpine 2% six hourly.

Have used Xalatan for several years with no rash. Added Trusopt 1 year ago and about 3 months ago I started with a rash on eyelids. Dermatologist treated for contact dermatitis Fluticasone Propionate cream with little result. Opthamologist treated for blepharitis with an antibiotic cream and eyelid wash, again no relief. I tried using Xalatan in AM rather than at nite, no change. Tried just Trusopt AM and early PM, no change.

hi I have recently as having mild glaucoma in my left eye from my visual field test. The right apparently seems okay for now. In addition, I also believe that I have dry eyes. This was due to a prolonged period of computer use and contact lens wearing that has caused the growth of many new veins in my eyes. I have found that my eyes turn red easily and feel discomfortable after using the computer. I cant use it for as long as i used to. I sometimes feel an ache in my eyelids or around the eye.

side effects because the drug is running through your body (rather than staying mostly in the eye). Xalatan, and the others that are similar lower IOP more than other drug classes...you need to ask what your IOP is and see that it stays in the healthy range, since glaucoma damage can be permanent. However...you may end up with eyelashes like Brooke Shields.

Hi, my doctor would like me to have SLT in one eye (has a test) to lower my IOP (Xalatan is not enough apparently)... I've red a couple of studies on SLT and some pretend that SLT is coutner indicated for Juvenile glaucoma (it could raise IOP instead of lowering it) I'm 31 years old... Any thoughts ?

hi, one week after laser iridoplasty for plataeu iris ihave experienced blurred vision in my left eye eye . I am still on xalatan once a day. The blurred vision occured during the night for about 2 or 3hours. Dont usually have a problem with eye sight not shortsighted or longsighted. Rang consultant said it was unusual and cant have been because of the pressure rising as had laser treatment but they are fully booked and has made me an appointment for monday 4 days from now.

I was diagnosed with glaucoma four years ago and was immediately put on Xalatan once a day both eyes. Two years later was taken off Xalatan and put on Cosopt & Alphagan, twice a day, Lumigan once a day, both eyes. For the past two years my diopter went from -4.00 both eyes, to -9.50 left eye, -7.00 right eye, as of today, in steady progression. I can already tell I'm probably not seeing 20/40 presently and need stronger contacts.

s were slightly elevated (and an Aunt had glaucoma) but returned toward normal on Xalatan drops? Might she expect the cataract surgery itself to alter her pressures toward normal or should she have a combined laser filtering procedure? Thanks.

I picked up my new bottle of Xalatan today and I noticed the pharmacist didn't take it from the refrigerator, but took it off the shelf where she keeps all her prescriptions. I asked her if she shouldn't have had it in the refrigerator since yesterday when I called in the refill. She said one day out of the refrigerator would not harm the unopened Xalatan. When I got home I put it in my fridge.

hi last night i may have accidentally taken my xalatan eye drop twice in one day.i know the usual dose is one time a day.my question is if i did take it twice what would happen and would there be side effects?

No field loss in left eye, very minor field loss in right eye. Strangely, visual examination of the optic nerve showed nothing to the specialist that suggested nerve damage -- the only way he could even confirm that it was was from an OCT measurement showing the right eye nerve being slightly thinner than the left (85 microns avergage left, 80 microns average right).

m using Alphagan, Azopt (both 2x daily in both eyes) and Xalatan (both eyes at night). My pressure is now 14 in left eye and 21 in right eye. The retinal specialist had considered injections of steroids for the swelling, but thinks it may cause an exacerbation of the glaucoma, so is having me continue the Prednisolone and Nevanac until the bottles are empty.

Is anyone putting their glaucoma eye drops in the fridge? If so, what is temperature where you store them in the fridge? My opthamologist said it is okay to store the drops in the fridge so that they become cool and therefore you know when the drops enter your eyes. Anyone?

Hello, My 6 year old son has lost his eyelashes on only his left eye. Both his upper and lower lid has eyelash loss. We noticed this is November and our pediatrician had no knowledge as so why. His blood came back fine. His eyes look normal no red, swelling. He recently went to a local eye doctor which he was diagnosed with blepharitis. He were instructed to wash is eyes 3xs a day and apply eye ointment at bedtime. At the very outer edge he has a few about 10 lashes.

I was prescribed xalatan to reduce the pressure. Around the same time I started noticing afterimages from objects with high contrast to their background (tv against white wall, my phone against desk) after staring less than 3 seconds. Further, when I read text online I notice faint horizontal bars beside the text (negative afterimage of the space between the lines). The most annoying aspect is that I sometimes see a negative afterimage of the people I am talking to.

I now have high pressure (27/28) in both eyes and use xalatan, prednisolone, apo-timop and pms-brimonidine for the operated eye only. Also lots of pain and aching in both eyes - extra strength tylenol (2x a day gives some relief). Seeing specialist next week but in meantime optometrist is checking pressure and looking into me using the xalatan at night in good eye. Any suggestions why pressure is high in good eye also when it is not being treated?

I had one plug taken out and my eye immediately worsened with dry eye so I had it reinserted. I am taking all measures to aggressively treat dry eyes and don't feel that that is the issue. I just don't know how to find out a proper diagnosis and treatment. I want to make sure my eyes are healthy and it's difficult to deal with constant pain and discomfort.

I wonder if anyone was ever using the brand name Xalatan and then had to switch to the Greenstone generic brand (supposedly made by same company- Pfizer). If so has it worked okay? My insurance might not cover the brand name any longer, which I have been taking for about 30 years, and wants me to switch to generic. (Insurance company and pharmaceutical companies are driving me crazy with their prices, etc.

Hi l am 47 and been diagnosed glaucoma for ten years,l dont think l have lost any vision as my peripheral and central vision tests are still good l have been taking eye drops for ten years but my eye specialist said they are no longer effective as the nerve damage in my eyes has been getting worse over past ten years.. He said the higher the number the worse it is and in the past ten years l have gone from a 2 to a 4.
