Where does appendicitis pain start

Common Questions and Answers about Where does appendicitis pain start

appendicitis

Avatar m tn Having been an EMT for many years I understand this could be appendicitis, however, I am confused about the pain free lapses. I live in the middle of no where with poor hospitals about 2 and a half hours away. I am hesitant to spend 5 hours in an ER and then having no pain when I am finally seen. Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course?
Avatar f tn My sister told me if i had appendicitis, my pain would be getting worse cuz my aPpendix pain has been going for like 2 months now but only once the pain was severe and that was in the morning.
Avatar m tn I went to get blood work done because my cousin which is a Doctor wanted to rule out an appendicitis. The WBC count came back at 10.1 where the normal range for that laboratory I believe was from 5 to 10. My cousin said that is not significant enough to point towards appendicitis. My lymphocte percentage was low at 20.3 percent, and my mean platelet volume was also low 6.8. What really has me concerned though is that my blood sed rate came back at 32mm/h which is high.
Avatar f tn It's on your right above the abdomen, but you can tell that by googling it -- someone on You Tube will have a video showing you where it is. But the key thing is pain level -- it's a pretty intense pain. If you think you have it, you need to go to the ER now. If your anxiety manifests itself in fear of ill health and you're constantly having such fears, I know, it makes it really hard to know what to do.
Avatar f tn So currently not having major pain just slight discomfort in that area I was thinking could this be from the rough night I had due to drinking or so I go and check it out was kind of worried when I saw that it could be something pretty dangerous left untreated but I was also thinking if it was appendicitis I would probably be feeling alot more pain.
Avatar m tn Flank pain (where the kidney is), if that is what you are describing, above the hip bone on the side, would make me think you might want to check on the right kidney, maybe get a urine test. Or, if below the kidney, again, it might be gas pain, which can come and go as the pockets of gas move along. Pain in the upper right abdomen- could be gallbladder or bile duct, liver, gas in the transverse colon (common place for it to collect), costochondritis (if in the rib cage area up there).
Avatar m tn They are both sharp pains, though appendicitis can start as a cramp feeling first. One is higher than the other. The cyst pain will appear during ovulation, at least that is when it is at its worst. Both need to be looked asap. Not all cysts are created equal. Some need immediate attention. Appendicitis also can't wait. Better safe than sorry. Get it checked out.
Avatar f tn I yelped out of pain. She said I might have appendicitis, and told us to go to the hospital to get a check up. We did, and they took blood tests and urine tests; It came out negative for appendicitis, but positive for UTI. The doctors gave me antibiotics for it, I took it religiously. Now, I still have this reoccurring pain on my stomach and abdomen area.
Avatar f tn This probably won't help but I had appendicitis pain aswell. The first doctor thought I had the start of an appendix infection. A week later I was still sick but the pain moved under my ribs. The second doctor I saw knew immediately what it was and said he had seen other people present with appendicts pain aswell, he thought it was caused by refered pain down the muscles, or an irritation in the bowel by small stones or too much bile. But he did point out it was only a theory.
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
Avatar m tn I took plan B on the last day of my period which was december 25th and starting on the 29th i had soreness in what seems like right above the ovaries, a pain on each side of my abdomen. I also have this pulsating around my belly button and it will shoot down to the right side then give me back pain. I also have headaches and have gotten easily hot and overheated during the night. I know im not pregnant because ive testes and JUST came off my period and it was normal. Could this be my apendix?
Avatar m tn Abdominal pain) The pain may be minor at first, but it becomes more sharp and severe. Your appetite will be reduced and you may have nausea, vomiting, and a low fever. As the swelling in the appendix increases, the pain tends to move into your right lower abdomen. It focuses right above the appendix at a place called McBurney's point. This most often occurs 12 to 24 hours after the illness starts.
Avatar n tn I have been having some pain where I believe my right ovary to be. I had pain there, around my back and down my legs. Also up my right side too. Gyno said she did not feel anything on my ovary, thought it might be an UTI. Seeing a urologist and so far sounds as if this is not the case. Urine coming back negative for bacteria. These pains come and go without any reason. Its not always there. But I read a story of a lady who's first sign of colon cancer was sciatic pain.
Avatar n tn Also the pains in my abdomen seem to get worse when i eat or after a night out drinking. Then the pain gets very sharp and spreads to the left side and lower left of the back, i get hit by a sudden feeling of weakness and have to lie down. What are the possible causes of this pain, and could it be linked to my other symptoms? p.s. i am fully aware that this is not a diagnosis, it is just to know wether or not i should get this checked by my GP. p.p.
Avatar n tn Every month I start my period, the first few hours of it I have severe sharp pains similar to labor pains that stop and start every few minutes. I had to go to the hospital, They said it could be kidney stones, appendicitis,or ovarian cyst. I have a history of abnormal paps and endometriosis, I am scared it is cancer. I dont have insurance if anyone can share some info I would realy appretiate it.
18799278 tn?1484274288 I'm not a medical expert but it sounds similar to stories I've heard about appendicitis. Appendicitis can be very serious, especially if the appendix ruptures. It might be worth going and getting checked out by a doctor just in case.
471949 tn?1236904026 Where did it start? Where did it move to? Where is it now? Are you still having bowel movements? What medication did they give you - antibiotics? I'm not an MD, but my husband started having abdominal pain, and by his description of the pain I told him we were going to the ER because he had appendicitis. I called my surgeon who had just taken my gallbladder out a month prior, and he was incredulous that our family could need general surgery again so soon.
Avatar m tn Given that my pains are not concentrated in the right and not that intense, does it seem unlikely to ne appendicitis? Could appendix symptoms drag on this long (it's coming up for a week). The pain has got no worse and if anything seems to be improving. Also, would appendicitis symptoms usually go after eating a meal? I'm extremely anxious and worried right now. Appreciate any advice!
Avatar n tn When does the pain happen(after eating, during a certain time of month, all the time, etc)? Are you on any medications or supplements? A numb, pins and needles, type of feeling is typically a sign of poor circulation or a problem with a nerve or nerves. If you have been having issues with numbness, it would be a good idea to see your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn I saw a doctor on Wednesday and he said its probably gallstones and not appendicitis at all...so I drank some apple juice and within a day the majority of the pain disappeared. But I still have slight pain where my appendix is, so I went to the doc again 2 days later and saw a different doctor who said that its not appendicitis and that its probably associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (ive had it since i was born practically).
Avatar n tn i agree with the above and only add that the other possibilities can be quickly fatal (appendicitis, aortic distention etc ) ... press ur belly buttom ... does that illicit pain ?? also is there constant pain in ur shoulder?? can u stand on one foot ??/ these other pains rule out other causes ... are u menopausal ??
5441042 tn?1368009773 Try pushing down and massaging the areas where you are having the pain. If it is gas, I find this sometimes helps to "send it along it's way"! Good luck. P.S.--Please don't ignore the doctor's advice regarding possible appendicitis.
Avatar m tn Your appendix is in the lower right part of your abdomen and quite often, the pain of appendicitis will start in the middle of your stomach (around the belly button) before "settling" more in the appendix area. If you start running a fever, the pain increases, you're vomiting or have severe nausea, I'd definitely consider going to the local ER for evaluation. With your past surgery, it's also possible that you've developed adhesions, which definitely can be painful.
Avatar m tn Two months ago i was diagnosted with h pylori , i was prescribed with triple therapy but then i developed terminal iliets because of the antibiotics i have to stop them the treatment was 14 days but i stopped with 10 days , then i was having a black poo every since then , then last week i want to another hospital where they found out i am still h pylori moderately positive stool antigen , then i have to put back on antibiotics as soon as that day i felt a burning feeling in my chest then i star
Avatar m tn I suspected appendicitis. We went to the emergency room where they did an ultrasound and a CT scan. The scan showed a peculiar result - the appendix appeared somewhat inflamed but her intestines had also gotten partially twisted. The doctor wasn't sure if it was appendicitis or if it was just the torsion that was causing the pain. If it was the torsion, then it could become untwisted over time.
