Avatar f tn How soon are theyy needed? Im only 5weeks and dont know if I need to start taking the prenatal pills...
657586 tn?1224587947 Not only is fish consumption controversial in pregnancy, there is also, is it ok to color your hair, is it safe to bleach your teeth, should you eat lunchmeat...I mean the list goes on and on. There are always two sides. The internet is a cesspool of opinions, incomplete studies, and hypothetical answers. One side is opposed, the other gives the green light...very confusing. As you say Germanbaby, if the benefit outweighs the risk, it's a no brainer for me.
Avatar m tn Hi there. 9590250 tn?1452831684 They suggest taking them when you start trying to conceive, if not take them as soon as you test positive
Avatar f tn With my first one just took 2 kids Flintstones vitamins because the prenatal made me sick. With this pregnancy taking it at bedtime seems to work fine, I just sleep through any upset stomach it causes.
773801 tn?1244520679 What they fail to tell you that if you are taking these daily that you need to stop taking them at the end of your pregnancy because it prevents you from going into labor. Omega 3 are used to help prevent preterm labor, PMS menstral cramps in non pregnant women and relieve joint and prevent inflammation. So basically it doesn't let you thin out or let your cervix dilate.
Avatar f tn If I take the one with no DHA is it ok to takr Advocare Omega Plex supplement on the side? Or should I take the vitamin with DHA and take iron on the side? These have me confused!
1885735 tn?1322375616 I haven't been able to take them because they make me very sick...my Dr. said I may have to wait to start them in the 2nd trimester..
7062279 tn?1388370086 Yes dha are essential fatty acids. I should add as a training nutritionist that if you are already taking dha to be careful not to overdose with taking fish oil supplements too as these are high in vitamin A. Vitamin A should not be taken over the daily allowance normally and especially not in pregnancy as can cause harm. Check the amount of vitamin A is in the fish oils with your daily recommend allowance..and remember that you may be also having vitamin A in foods.
Avatar f tn What are your thoughts on taking fish oil or dha supplements through the third trimester for brain development? I'm thinking of doing it, I need to speak with my OB first, but I want some opinions :) Thanks!
415867 tn?1323365503 I have a wedding in July and want to get a spray tan. is it ok during pregnancy? I've never done it before. thanks!
Avatar f tn You can get a separate dha to go along with anything you decided to take. The only thing I will say is to ask your dr. It's easy to overdose on certain vitamins and that may be why they switched you.
Avatar m tn A study in Poland among first-episode schizophrenia patients (ages 16 to 35) found a small to moderate benefit from taking fish oil in addition to regular medication. During 26 weeks of taking 4 capsules daily of concentrated fish oil (providing a daily total of 1,320 mg of EPA and 880 mg of DHA) rather than a placebo containing olive oil, 69.4% experienced at least a 50% improvement in symptom severity while only 40% of those given the placebo experienced this level of improvement.

Avatar f tn I don't think you've done any harm. If your concerned you could start taking them now or add a dha supplement to your current prenatal. I take Neevo dha it's a prescription prenatal and it's very easy on your tummy.
Avatar f tn Gummy prenatal with folic and dha from Walmart
Avatar f tn ve been finding that the fish oil and other things in the over the counter supplements may be bad during pregnancy. The pharmacist told me to stop taking them and check with my Dr but my Dr told me to take them. Just wondering if anyone else is taking extra Omega 3 Fatty acids, and if so, what kind?
467126 tn?1283144858 since 1960 and no problems have ever been reported concerning DHA penetrating the skin, or causing problems during pregnancy. The reason the concern remains is that advances have been made in the cosmetic industry in developing ingredients that help other ingredients to penetrate the skin better. This applies not only to sunless tanners but moisturizers and other products.
Avatar f tn They make me sick but I do take flintstone gummies, folic acid (I have a deficency so I take an extra separate pill) and I eat eggs on the morning (helps provide dha to help develop baby brains). For the most part though, prenatals are more for the mother to stay healthy and happy. The baby takes all of the mothers vitamins, leaving the mother with fatique, dizziness, and various other symptoms. I feel 10 times better now that I am taking my cocktail of vitamins.
1150573 tn?1261964987 Hi, I've been told and read that you should start taking prenatals 3 months before you ttc and keep on them until you decide not to have any more children. Its never too late to start ! Folic too - before and during pregnancy - helps prevent neural tube defects and you don't want to start after you conceive.
Avatar m tn Iron is essential if u have iorn deficiency anemia during ur first tri and if ur not sure if u have that ur doc will do a chem 14 and they will be able to tell u . We r more worried abut iron levels during ur 2nd tri due to the baby more rapidly growing and bones beginning to fuse etc.
