Common Questions and Answers about Dha pregnancy pills

dha

Avatar f tn So I Bought prenatal pills and they don't have dha. So when I had my 1st Dr appt at 5 weeks he said buy dha prenatal so I have been taking them. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and a few days ago I ran out so I been taking the prenatal pills without dha until I get paid. But I'm wondering is it even a big deal which pills i take since I'm out of 1st trimester?
Avatar f tn Yeah you need to take them now, women take thembefore they fall pregnant if ttc, but if unplanned you should take them as soon as you find out
7585726 tn?1397871765 If am taking prenatal pills do I still need to take iron & folic acid pills?
Avatar f tn U can do that. Most prenatal vitamins that also have dha r two separate pills anyway. I take regular omega 3 fish oil pills from vitamin shop in conjunction with my prenatals from cvs. U may want to look into dha specifically for pregnancy, but they're also way more expensive. Also check to make sure the fish oil comes from small fish like sardines or anchovy and that it doesn't contain soy. It's a lot to look into, but I hope this helps.
548642 tn?1266179652 what are you taking??????? i was on tandem dha with my last pregnancy but this pregnancy he just has me on folic acid 1mg once a day until the 2nd trimester! he said prenatal pills will make my nausea worse and folic acid works just the same!!!
8069122 tn?1407171566 I am so ready to be done with this pregnancy just so I don't have to take anymore pills I'm taking prenatals dha pill stool softeners and progesterone and it is getting old! Some days I just take the progesterone and skip the rest put goodness it's to much!
Avatar f tn They're all good. Ask the pharmacist which they recommend. I take the cheaper brand, and it's just as good as the more expensive one. Some women find the prenatal pills make them feel sick, so you might have to experiment with which ones work best for you. In addition to my prenatals, I take Omega3 too, because I'm not eating all that much fish right now.
Avatar n tn I suggest taking prenatal vitamins that contain DHA. Getting the pills you mentioned may have more iron than the little one can take. Prenatals are formulated with just the right amount of vitamins and minerals for a developing baby. If you compare to regular multi vitamins, you'll see that measurements for those and minerals are different.
Avatar f tn m taking the prescription vitafol-ob+dha which is $55 and I was taking bellybar before and during the earlier part of pregnancy which has almost 2x the amount of vitamins but no dha for $13 is it safe to switch back? Is there something else that I am overlooking?

Avatar f tn It will provide you and your developing baby with the essential nitrients. Personally I use garden of life prenatals. You need to take a DHA supplement as well for your babies brain and nervous system development. One good option is Nordic naturals prenatal DHA.
Avatar f tn No there for a cold the dr prescribed.
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
Avatar f tn This is my first pregnancy so I only know a little about a little, (don't judge me). How and where do I get prenatal pills? My first doctors appointment is tomorrow and im hoping they will give me information, either give me some or prescibe me some? I know its healthy for my baby and some people even say I should have been taking them. (Im a month and a few days to be exact), is it to late???
Avatar f tn It's safe but make sure they have folic acid
Avatar f tn Prenatal pills that include DHA help with migraines. Dha is omega 3 which is is basically lubricates your brain....which causes less headaches. Since I've been taking it i don't get headaches but the days that i forget to take it i get a headache. You should try it....
Avatar n tn I haven't heard anything about fish pills. In my pregnancy journal book it lists a million vitamins to take and they're all in my prenatal vitamin. The only thing that is low in the prenatal is calcium. So, I take my prenatal, calcium, and vitamin C. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn t taken prenatal pills containing DHA my entire pregnancy. Will it do any harm to start now at 31 weeks? Or should i take ones without. Any advice?
Avatar f tn During my second pregnancy the pills were too much for me with nausea, so I take Flinstones Complete with my oldest. He thinks its cool we are doing the same thing.
7062279 tn?1388370086 DHA is in fish oil, and it's for baby's brain development. Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply).
773801 tn?1244520679 Thanks for letting us know im gunna switch to the ones that i have without dha. My daughter was12 days llate after induction and now im 1 day late.
566175 tn?1278430472 I take this two step vitamin with DHA being a second step, CVS brand. No stool softener though. I think to get a stool softener you need prescription vitamins.
1123156 tn?1338863369 I took a pregnancy test after being a week late and turns out im pregnant! My DF picked up "NatureMade" Multi Prenatal (High folic acid, iron and zinc.) Now he also got "Expecta" Lipil ....DHA supplement for pregnant women.........anyone else take these? I just want to make sure im on the right track. I'm going to see the obgyn tomorrow..........cannot wait!!!!
907968 tn?1292622204 It was discovered that many pills are actually a waste of time. Look on the bottle of your pills to see how much EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) they contain in each capsule. These oils are good for the heart and brain, and you need 500mg daily for a healthy heart and 1000mg for the brain. Some pills are 1000mg, but only contain 240mg of the essential oils per pill. So, you really need to take 4 of them a day.
