What is oxymorphone used for

Common Questions and Answers about What is oxymorphone used for

opana

Avatar m tn Since this is in the Oxymorphone category, is it the same or stronger than MS Contin. I take 40mg of MSContin (long lasting) every 12 hours but it does nothing for my pain - never has even after a Hysterectomy with a Morohine pump in 2001. I'd like to ask my Dr. about this, but if it's the same thing......no need to I guess. Message me if you'd like.
Avatar f tn Did the office just do an in office screen or did they send the urine out for testing? Opana is oxymorphone, which is a synthetic opioid, not a traditional opiate. In office screens have a cut off threshold, which is different depending on the test used. The cut off threshold determines what levels must be present for a positive or negative.
Avatar n tn It is being prescribed off label as Actiq was initially developed for cancer pain but there are so many other meds out there that are used off label. For example, neurontin is an anti-convulsant but it is more often prescribed for nerve pain. Prescribing actiq must be out of your doctors comfort zone. I would definitely discuss the immediate release form of Opana with your doctor.
917008 tn?1251223979 I goggled and found the below, in wikipedia, for what it’s worth; someone told me wikipedia is not always true and accurate.
Avatar m tn 1. What is the dose of the fentanyl patch that you are applying? Is it the equivalent dose of what you are currently on? If not, you may not get equivalent pain relieve from the fentanyl patch.
Avatar f tn The oxycodone may not be as effective for your pain as oxymorphone is stronger but Fentanyl is stronger than oxymorphone. So there are a couple of directions to take if you decide the Opana ER is not worth the side effects.
Avatar n tn For example, 1 mg of oxymorphone is stronger than 1 mg of oxycodone...to be precise, oxymorphone is approx. 2 times stronger than oxycodone. Therefore, to get equivalent strength of oxymorphone through oxycodone, one has to take their oxymorphone dosage and multiply it by 2 to yield equivalent oxycodone dosing in mgs.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you might have been on too many meds, so it is hard to tell what is working and what isn't. I haven't seen Soma work for anyone. I am in your side, so don't yell at me! :) Every medication affects everyone differently, so i usually come to groups like this to see if anything is affecting EVERYONE in an adverse way. But Lookin4drperfect, you need to keep a pain diary, see what sets off your flares, and you need to tell your doc EVERY med that you take.
687729 tn?1397992727 ve tried using Kratom for the pain and it keeps me awake. Can the fast-acting Oxymorphone be cut in half? I did pretty well with the Dilaudid, but it gave me such a rush that I don't want to develop a psychological addiction to it. I've tried cutting the Opana ER in half, but the blade in the cutter won't cut it. Any advice out there? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I was actually dehydrated and could not pee for my UDtest so they took blood and it came back positive for oxymorphone, noroxycodone, and noroxymorphone at low levels but on a zero tolerance test any amount is a positive. Are these items that could be from just taking the oxycodone and my body coverts it to this or is the test flawed.
Avatar f tn Are you taking your medication on an empty stomach? It's very important that you do this. I'm not sure how these medications compare to each other. I do know that we're all different and can respond to these medications differently. I take it you made the change because the Fentanyl was not working for you? Your Dr could very well be right. It may take a few days for this medication to start working. How many days has it been since you started it?
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn Hi Krista! I've had severe chronic pain since 1983 and was diagnosed with HCV in 1986 and with cirrhosis in 2004. Before my liver got so bad I used a variety of different pain meds, but have had to be way more careful since 2004. For the last year I've been using Opana (oxymorphone) ER twice daily and a small dose of oxymorphone IR for breakthrough pain. It has worked well for me, contains no acetaminophen, is okay with my hepatologist, and has fewer supply hassles than OxyContin did.
Avatar f tn It is true that for most people going CT is generally not dangerous. How ever, if you have an underlying health issue, it's best to be under the care of a doctor. And it's really easy to become dehydrated during withdrawal and being dehydrated makes everything worse and in and of itself, dehydration can be a problem. Crohns is a serious disease. It would be much better for you to enlist the help of your doctor. Most people are very surprised how supportive their doctors are.
Avatar f tn I believe it would show up if being tested for both opioids and synthetic opioids. The reason why you tested positive for oxymorphone is because oxycodone which is found in percocet can produce oxymorphone when it is metabolized in the liver. The codeine-hydrocodone group and morphinans can also produce oxymorphone.
Avatar f tn So it is very likely that you have some withdrawal from Tramadol. The dry heaving part is what is confusing to me. Diarrhea is usually a withdrawal symptom but you were nauseated (could be from the oxymorphone???, maybe consider visiting drugs.com to view a complete list of the side effects). Maybe others here can comment on that part. Be very careful of how you taper the Klonopin. The withdrawal symptoms can cause seizures and be life threatening.
Avatar m tn I have built up a tolerance to oxycodone IR that I have had to take 3 times my dose just to get my pain to get down to a moderate level. The research I have done is that oxymorphone is stronger and less mg. I have several questions. Are taking less mg easier on the body? How do I ask my doctor to switch, I don't want to seem like just another patient trying to get high.
