lamictal

574118 tn?1305135284 Truthfully I tolerated Lamictal better but each person is different as to their reaction and what side effects they experience. Look up the medications online if you wish. Its only in general terms that lithium is known as the most effective mood stabilizer. As to which mood stabilizer is used for what form of bipolar that's a psychiatrist's decision though you look up more online to find out more if you want.
Avatar f tn Im sorry to hear that. That is why there are so many drugs out there. What works for one doesn't for another. Good luck keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have used lamictal for my bipolar 1 condition. It is a fantastic mood stabiliser especially for those with labile type symptoms. It is 1 of the newer ones they are using and I highly recommend it.
574118 tn?1305135284 Right now I am manic with mixed states and rapid cycling. seroquel takes care of that. I saw my pdoc as i was convinced that it's time to add a mood stabilizer like the usual therapy. Back in time, I didn't tolerate neither tegretol nor lamictal. what is left is lithium or valproate. of course there are less famous drugs like trileptal, topamax,..... i took 2 pills of lithium and i had serious insomnia for 2 days, intolerable, dry mouth,...the usual.
1246883 tn?1285547973 what is the incidence against placebo - ie in the general population. It is not drastically so especially compared to the rash, which will kill you just as nicely and can pop up at any time. the rare stuff isnt worth worrying about unless it gets you - there is simply nothing you can do about it except be properly consented by your doctor.
Avatar f tn I am worried about the side effects as she said they can cause liver and kidney problems. Could anyone who is on similar medication for BP give me some information on what their experience of such medications have been and if they have helped their condition? Is it a good idea to allow the doctor to treat me using these medications, what are the benefits and side effects.
Avatar f tn What is your actual diagnosis? Lamictal is an odd choice of med if you're treating just depression and an anxiety disorder. Lamictal is typically prescribed for people with bi-polar disorder, which is a COMPLETELY different animal. Besides the Celexa and Lamictal, what other meds have you tried? Are you in therapy? It's hard to say if the itching is just a side effect or if it's related to an adverse reaction. Most allergic reactions would present with a rash.
Avatar f tn s the seroquel or the combination with lamictal, or if my brain is just fried from being depressed and bipolar for the last 30 yrs and on all sorts of different meds that work for a while, then need to be changed, over and over again. Life is a b*tch sometimes. But I try to look on the bright side even when there doesn't seem to be much of a bright side! Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn From what I know Abilify and Geodon are weight neutral medications.
Avatar f tn This is my first reply to a post so hope I don't send to the wrong place. Thank you for your help and the info. The doc (whew) worked me in and saw for himself symptoms of above and they confirmed the double dosage date as well as saw my now skally rash on my face and all the blisters that have dried up on the outside that have began to heal. Also the whatever it is under my tongue was very red and swollen.
Avatar n tn and i agree, i was somewhat confused as well and thats because the generic lamictal at the pharmacy i work at is only $4 for a quanity of 30 without insurance. oddly, many insurances we try to run this through say in needs prior authorization...essentially it just isn't covered and we run it for cash. the rejection can often be mistaken though since it doesn't simply say "not covered" i'm not suggesting the pharmacy you're going to is wrong in assuming it needs a PA...
Avatar f tn I have had 3 in the last 3 days and am living in fear of the next one. Is it the Effexor withdrawl? Is the Prozac not working? I am also on 200mg Lamictal. I do not think that I am bipolar. Doc said that the panic attacks may be manic symptoms and so she told me to take zyprexa 2.5mg at night, stop the prozac and take 37.5 of effexor until she gets back in town. She told me that she thinks that I am bipolar but I don’t understand why.
Avatar f tn m told can cause anxiety) and Lamictal (mood stabilizer for Bipolar). Buspar works great for me and is the kind of med that you can feel accumulate in your system. That way, you don't suffer if missing a dose. I take 10mg 3 times a day. It used to just be 2x, but my job got stressful and we made an adjustment. I was originally given Xanax which was a huge mistake on my GP's part.
895207 tn?1241549652 Lamictal has less of a potential for weight gain. As for the effects of specific medications on kidney function you'd have to ask your doctor about that. That is one of the side effects monitored for with lithium with the monthly blood test and not as much of a problem with other mood stabilizers but every medication has its specific set of side effects. Lithium does have a fair amount of side effects but its also highly effective.
Avatar f tn I am confused when you say that he is addicted to opiates. Soma is not an opiate. It is a sedative, used for muscle relaxation. Even though it is somewhat addictive, it is not an opiate and does not present the same challenge of withdrawal as true opiates do. As a mother, no matter how much you want to help him, the only one who can do it is he himself. When he is ready for help, I am here and ready to answer any question he might have. Good luck to you both.
