When I was in a hospital for post-partum depression the doctor I had tried me on Lamictal but I developed a rash on my arm. My meds were switched that same day after a dose of benadryl.
Did anyone took Lamictal for anxiety and depression? Did it work,and how soon did it started working? Did anyone started feeling normal and had their old life back? Did anyone felt the itching, and how long it lasted? I am very worried, i need this med to be working for me soon because i going through very tough time in my relationship. If anyone know anything about it, pleaselet me know. It willbe veryhelpful.
There are also some other medications that are used as mood stabilizers although not approved by the FDA for that particular use and include, Lamictal, Topamx and Tegretol.
The objective of these mood stabilizers is to control both the manic and the depressive states of bipolar disorder. Their effectiveness depends on the patient, dosage and other variables.
I have suffered from depression since i remember. As a teenager i used to cut my arms with razors and many times put my dads gun to my head. At 18 I went off to college and things got better and happier. Then marriage, children and a full time job happened and stress took over. I have been put on many antidepressants like prozac, wellbutrin, effexor, fetzima etc.
I saw my P-doc today and he said he has seen Lamictal work very well for this Soft or Bi-polar ll type of agitated anxiety based depression. He's trying me on that, slow at first.
Correct you are; No doubt I will have to keep taking my AD medication. I get way too low without it. This damn ultra high anxiety needs to get in check though. Hoping Lamictal will level me out a bit.
My AD is Mertazapine.
I am on Carbamazeptine, that is for my Epilepsy and Depression. I found that it did not work for my Bipolar even though i was on 800mg and yes, you will need regular blood tests to check your liver and kidney function. If you are concerned about it talk to your Psychiatrist about other options. I did! It is your body and you do have control over what goes into it.

t work well on depression as it does on mania. I believe 100 mg. Lamictal which is a mood stabilizer that does work on depression as well is a subclinical dose though only a psychiatrist would know for sure. Cymbalta is of course an anti-depressent. Geodon is an antipsychotic used for bipolar. But all of them together would tend to create cognitive confusion. You should speak to your psychiatrist about having your medications adjusted.
It came out in the newspaper a few weeks ago that anti-depressants like prozac are no more effective than a placebo at fighting depression. Previously withheld study results were released. The major pharmaceuticals have been scamming us all. Try St John's Wort. You can take up to 3000 mg a day, or so. Use a good sunscreen, since it can make your skin phytosensitive. You could also try Sam(e), but you have to get the right kind, I guess, from Natures Way.
I have been on and off an Effexor/Lamictal combination for a number of years - going off of it when I've lost health insurance or just can't afford it. This time around I've been on it about 1 1/2 years and due to paperwork issues, my new prescription didn't arrive per usual, so my psychiatrist had me immediately go from 600 mg effexor to 300 mg, and now to 150 mg in less then a week. I've also gone down from 450 mg of lamictal to 150 mg.
I take Buspar, but it is along with Wellbutrin (I'm told can cause anxiety) and Lamictal (mood stabilizer for Bipolar). Buspar works great for me and is the kind of med that you can feel accumulate in your system. That way, you don't suffer if missing a dose. I take 10mg 3 times a day. It used to just be 2x, but my job got stressful and we made an adjustment. I was originally given Xanax which was a huge mistake on my GP's part.
