I had confusion when driving, so i told my doctor i'm done with this. I know where i'm going these days, but I now use a walker around the house, elastic knee braces to walk on my own.
Avatar n tn My experience with Forteo is that the calcium does not rise much and these are not common side effects - but it is possible. Also, would re-evaluate pre-Forteo PTH and calcium levels to make sure you did not have mild primary hyperpara before starting Forteo. If still in doubt, sometimes a break from the medication and a future re-challenge can help establish cause-effect.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn Forteo is injected daily. The first few doses may cause dizziness and/or fast heartbeat. The most common long lasting side effects are dizziness and leg cramps. Forteo increases bone mass and strengthens.

Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. Avatar f tn What a revoltin' development this is. Research is showing an association between low vitamin D levels and MS, though exactly what this is is unclear. Past research has determined that we need calcium for bone health, especially as we age. And vitamin D and calcium should be taken together anyway, for proper absorption. Now this is saying we might expect brain lesions and thus deficits from D and calcium. If ever there was a case of damned if we do, damned if we don't, this is it.
