What is ciprodex otic used for

Common Questions and Answers about What is ciprodex otic used for

ciprodex

Avatar n tn Excellent advice, merceditas. Ciprodex otic is an antibiotic ear drop that combines the antibiotic ciprofloxacin with the glucocorticoid steroid dexamethasone. While both of these things are safe to use on a dog, human-strength drugs are often too strong to be used on our much-smaller four-legged companions, and what starts out as a well-meaning gesture quickly turns into a medical emergency far bigger than the original problem.
Avatar m tn I now also have burning/freezing pain in both legs that is sometimes unbearable (especially at nights) and body-wide twitching 1- I have read that Cipro can have peripheral neuropathy, panic attacks and twitching as side effect that can start (or go on) even months after discontinuation of medication. I know this is more common with the oral/IV Cipro but I may have used the CiproDex for longer duration that was prescribed. I believe that I was misdiagnosed with anxiety and hyperthyroidism.
Avatar m tn I know this is more common with the oral/IV Cipro but I may have used the CiproDex for longer duration that was prescribed. I really believe that I was misdiagnosed with anxiety and hyperthyroidism and a borderline hyperthyroid threw everyone off. Can I have Cipro-induced sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy? If yes, with the current symptoms and their long duration, is my neuropathy reversible? Is there anything that I can do?
93654 tn?1247499334 My general practioner gave me some Ciprodex samples for pink eye. I used them for several days and just now reading the drug information which states they're not approved for use in the eye. I should have read the drug information before using them, but I assumed they were eye drops. Could they cause any problems/damage to my eyes? Should I be concerned or follow-up with my eye doctor?
1899725 tn?1321500363 My 8 year son has had an ear infection for 5 weeks now. We've gone through a course of Ciprodex otic drops and a course of Neomycin/Polymyxin B ear drops. He's also been on Keflex and Augmentin. The doctor keeps telling me it's "swimmer's ear" or "just an ear infection" and should go away soon. 5 weeks of dealing with my child hurting is not soon enough. I'm actually a pediatic RN and know that this is not normal.
Avatar m tn On Monday morning I woke with an ear infection. I went to the doctor right away and was given Otic Edge, told to continue an antibiotic I was already on, to call if it wasn't felling better in a couple of days, and to schedule a recheck for a week later. Thursday, my ear still felt plugged, I was getting sharp pains, and ringing so I went back to the doctor. He said that there is alot of drainage in there and it kinda looked like swimmer's ear.

Avatar n tn Epi-Otic Ear Cleanser ($12.95 from Amazon) for an initial cleanse, the finish off with Mometamax Otic Suspension ($26.99 from 1-800-PetMeds). You'll need an Rx from your vet for the Momentamax, but it's the best thing since sliced bread and will knock out a yeast infection quicker than you can say M-O-M-E-N-T-A-M-A-X. My English Mastiff is prone to them, and this combination has always worked well for her.
Avatar m tn I have had for the last 5 months, fluid leaking from ear, A thick yellow sometimes clear puss like fluid, Cause? Infection, I was prescribed ciprodex a week ago, Im suppose to take it for 14 days and then get surgery to patch a hole in my left ear. The fluid is still leaking, all the time, How can the medication work if my ears wont stay dry? The fluid is probably blocking the medication from actually working.
1621608 tn?1339519872 I will tell you what is suitable and what the dose should be. The names may be different in India but the chemical name will be the same. In USA it is difficult to get prescription medications without a prescription, but it may be easier for you in India. There are human equivalents to the medications that I have mentioned here in case you can only locate the human products. Please post again to answer the questions I have asked so that I can help you and the ear infected dog further.
Avatar m tn Hey! So this all started about two months ago when I decided it would be a good idea to self-irrigate my ear after experiencing a lot of wax. I got a syringe and some warm water and just started blasting into my right ear canal. It didn't end up being successful as the wax never actually did come out, but I then started having earaches that have never fully healed. I've been to the doctor 4 times since then.
Avatar f tn The only eye ointment I am familiar with is called Ottomune (or something close to that - I can look it up, but haven't). It is for "dry eye" which can lead to loss of eye sight. I use it twice a day, every day. The symptom that led to the dry eye diagnosis was the production of an eye "film" I'll call it, not sure it might also be called "weepy".
Avatar m tn There no wax or nay kind of discharge from the ears. We have shown to an ENT doctor and the ears appear to be clean. She has used OTIC drops prescribed by doctor but itching persists and as a result ear bud or finger need to used frequently to ease the pain and itch. Ear appears to be dry as tiny white dots are seen with occasional flake.
612551 tn?1450022175 Hi. As Margot has said, dogs can be allergic to chicken or, more accurately, the protein content of chicken and treats that might contain chicken protein. Allergies are invariably difficult to identify and eliminate from a dog's diet or environment. In addition to what Margot has said, it is also common for dogs to get a yeast infection in the ears, so this is another thing to check out with your vet. Good luck and do let us know how you get on.
600619 tn?1219707750 but i am unsure if this is true and if its can an adult dog still get it done? he is my baby and i want whatever is best for him and i know getting these ear infections is not whats best for him. please and thank you for any help and advice anyone can give!
Avatar f tn It usually does take some time to get better but hopefully you are on the road to recovery. Now that you have tubes in your ears be extra careful not to get water in your ears when you shower and it's best not to submerge your whole head in a pool or jacuzzi because that can cause another infection.I noticed your other post about the circle. My husband hasn't had any problem with dry mouth he just hates the taste of it when it drains down his throat.
Avatar n tn I had a dog with the same ear issues. The vet explained to me that once it is flushed, it is a lot easier to keep clean. Its pretty much like starting with a clean slate. I would do what the vet recommends. Dog ears are sensitive, he'll probably feel much better afterwards. After my dog's ear was flushed, I used the epi-otic to keep it clean. I still use that stuff for the dogs I have now. It works great.
