Common Questions and Answers about What is byetta and how does it work

byetta

Avatar n tn Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit). That is because it was made with saliva of the Gila monster. A lot of people who are not diabetics have been trying to get the prescription for it because it is also know to have a positive side effect (Helps people to quit smoking). Hope this helps you with your question.
Avatar m tn Have you been monitoring your blood sugars (while on byetta)? What is your fasting and post-eating blood sugars. What was your Hba1c when you started this med? Have you done any other relevant testing? If so, please also post results.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar n tn Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar n tn As I understand it, Victoza delays gastric emptying thus causing the feeling of fullness and decreased appetite. I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds).
Avatar f tn Actually, it is not a pill, but an injection, and yet it is prescribed for weight loss and sugar control. It is called Byetta. Staying away from sugar, carbs and fats is great, and shows a lot of self-control and self-management, which is excellent.
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar n tn My question though, since I have not seen a doctor yet, what is subboxone and what does it do? I have seen a lot of post on this and am just trying to figure out what it is and if it works with wd's. Please, if anyone has info or advise of anything I wrote, please reply. This is my cry for help. Thank you so much.
475740 tn?1208262865 I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. I really want to lose weight and I know I gotta take the Metformin but it makes me very nauseous. The diarrhea I can handle but not the nausea, so I haven't been taking it. I see an endocrinologist Wednesday. I was wondering if there's an alternative to Metformin/Glucophage without the nausea side effects. If there's not how long does it take until you get used to the side effects?
Avatar n tn Let us know what you have been taking, for how long, and how much per day! Then we can give you better advice on what you might expect from the withdrawal process.
Avatar n tn Usually a block is performed to determine if there is damage to the sympathetic nerve chain and if it is the source of pain. This is a diagnostic test primarily, but it may provide relief far in excess of the duration of the anesthetic. I had a very similar diagnostic test for my SIJ. It diagnosed my severe SIJ Dysfunction beyond doubt. Nick is correct that this site does not tell you how to obtain narcotics but certainly for pain sufferers we make suggestions on who to consult.
Avatar n tn 125 mg). I also have diabetes. I have gained weight and cannot lose any. It is as if I have a tube in my belly pumping air.....it gets bigger and bigger. Ive had tests done to check my TSH..doc says its normal. I have other issues as well, loss of sex drive, hot and cold, sleepless, tingling in hands, memory issues, headaches. Why can I lose weight? This discussion is related to weight increased - TSH is high.
Avatar f tn It only helped for about a day for me. But it is what is in a very expensive prescription medication that is only used for morning sickness.
Business woman2 I am starting the slimfast program tomorrow. My question is does it really work? I am also in a wheel chair..But i do get my legs walking 1 or 2 hours a day .
9771234 tn?1405793808 I did it and it was right about me having a girl amd my hair dresser did it and it was right for her having a boy...
Avatar f tn It looks as if it is trying to come down. I set an appointment last week and I am not pregnant. My GYN wanted to do a pap on me but I wasn't comfortable because I was still spotting and bleeding every other day. I have had small cysts before and I am wondering if I have one now. Should I go along with the pap smear? She will do blood work, a pap smear and an ultrasound when I go back. Has anyone had this happen to them???
Avatar f tn This bothers me, as my stomach upsets easily, but what I really want to know is how many of you have been on it and what your reactions were? Also, is the chance of being allergic to it very high? Last thing, I was told that the incidence of pancreatitis is very very low, but that's not what the pharmacist said, anybody? Basically, in a nutshell, I just need some good feedback so I can start stabbing myself with this new drug! Thanks.
Avatar n tn my question is... what does the dr mean by "it's hormones." is this normal for 58 yr old female? what can be done to get bs down in a.m.??
