Byetta how does it work

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta how does it work

byetta

Avatar n tn Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit). That is because it was made with saliva of the Gila monster. A lot of people who are not diabetics have been trying to get the prescription for it because it is also know to have a positive side effect (Helps people to quit smoking). Hope this helps you with your question.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar n tn Did those just starting the medicine feel nausea right away, or was it with higher dosages that nausea was felt? Also, does Victoza aid weight loss by another mechanism besides early satiety?
Avatar m tn My initial HgbA1c was 8. My fasting insulin level was high (sad to say I don't remember the number). I do random fsbs's twice a day, always below 200. The fasting bs's were between 130 and 150 initially, now usually between 100 and 120. The 2 hour post prandials are unpredictable (but always below 200).
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar f tn Actually, it is not a pill, but an injection, and yet it is prescribed for weight loss and sugar control. It is called Byetta. Staying away from sugar, carbs and fats is great, and shows a lot of self-control and self-management, which is excellent.
475740 tn?1208262865 I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. I really want to lose weight and I know I gotta take the Metformin but it makes me very nauseous. The diarrhea I can handle but not the nausea, so I haven't been taking it. I see an endocrinologist Wednesday. I was wondering if there's an alternative to Metformin/Glucophage without the nausea side effects. If there's not how long does it take until you get used to the side effects?
Avatar f tn My former endrocrinologist put me on Byetta and I stayed with it for a few months. Even before I read about Byetta's possible link with pancreatis, I stopped the injections. Problem was that I would get severe nausea in the morning and often vomited. It was no fun feeling sick while driving or throwing up in a garbage can in my classroom(retired teacher). My new primary doctor eventually junked my diabetic orals and put me on Humalog and Lantus insulins.
Avatar n tn t eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
Avatar f tn Well, aside from not knowing what caused you to get a bruise on your liver, the liver does regenerate. Did they do blood work which included an amylase and lipase test? The amylase and lipase test will be high if you have pancreatitis otherwise it may not have been pancreatitis and possibly referred pain. It is good you are following up the GI doc maybe they can figure out why you have these problems.
Avatar f tn Never worked for me but, it does for some so definitely worth a try.
Business woman2 I am starting the slimfast program tomorrow. My question is does it really work? I am also in a wheel chair..But i do get my legs walking 1 or 2 hours a day .
Avatar f tn Keep us posted to see how you're doing! If it works I'll try it when I'm close to my due date or over due..does it taste gross? Or does it just end up giving you a ton of gas??
Avatar n tn Has the doctor taken you off of Byetta? I am on byetta and just found out I am pregnant. I am scared that something could go wrong. I have waited 7 years to concieved. Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar f tn I had a urine test done which showed a negative pregnancy but my blood work showed hcg levels to be 25 which was very low and thats the reason y it dint show up on urine test.My OB/GYN did an ultrasound and said its a chemical pregnancy and that resulted in a miscarriage. For people with PCOS like us, its hard to predict anything without proper tests. So its better u confirm with a blood work and an ultrasound.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
9771234 tn?1405793808 I did it and it was right about me having a girl amd my hair dresser did it and it was right for her having a boy...
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar n tn I didn't respond to your question. I don't know anything about Byetta.
