492329 tn?1290883385 I take Avalide 150/12.5 and Atenolol 50 mg, am/pm for Avalide and he did up my Atenolol to twice a day. He wants me to walk 30 mins a day and lose 25 lbs in 6 mos. However, my head aches the minute I more my ears ring to. He seems to think they are not connected. I'm really, really terrified! Oh and I had a heart cath in Oct 2008 all okay, but he did mention an S4 but said it would go away when the pressure comes down.
Avatar m tn Your father has occluded coronary vessels (ischemia) and apparently high blood pressure being treated with irbesartan and lasix is a diuretic. Clopidogrel is an anti-platelet medication to prevent clots. The reduced ejection fraction of 16% may be causing fluid buildup in the lungs and peripherals (arms and legs). I had an EF below 29% and was diagnosed with congested heart faiure...congestion was due to fluids in the lungs.
Avatar m tn What is the chance of intf combo with Irbesartan considering that Otan cleared on intf and simvastatin? I guess Irbesartan is more potent in theory if the receptor are similar.
Avatar n tn m currently taking Irbesartan every morning and is now controlled well. I enjoy traveling in hot conditions, some days can be up to 39 degrees. Can my blood pressure medication stand such heat if I was to say just put it in my wallet? I'm always traveling to different places and don't always have access to a fridge or ice to take on hand. If not, are there any other heat resistance BP medication i can try?
Avatar m tn Docs have done many blood tests and say I have mild Diabetes and have me on Metamorphin I believe it is . It is very frustrating but sometimes I drink fluids until I am ready to burst. I am on Avalide for high BP but have talked to others with diabetes ( some on insulin ) and on BP meds and they drink nowhere near whay I do or feel thirsty all the time. My body weight can fluctuate as much as 10 lbs during the week ( daily 3-5 max ) .
Avatar f tn Short term memory is affected also. I find myself sitting at my desk wondering what the heck I was doing and my attention span is very short. I haven't had any head injuries. No significant health problems other than mild hypertension treated with Avalide. My potassium was low (I think due to the HCTZ in the Avalide). I don't drink, smoke or take any recreational drugs. I saw a neurologist, who says the MRI is normal, EEG is not (temporal lobe irregularities). He's on vacation...
Avatar m tn Hello. I saw a sand like material in my urine this morning. I have seen this a few times before. What is this material? Should I be concerned? I was able to get sample. I have no pain, and I've seen no blood. I am a 55y/o male.
Avatar n tn Can you please advise if I am taking high blood pressure medication (irbesartan) and Altorvastatin for high cholesteron and I am also taking Tamoxafin for breast cancer (about to come off this drug), is it adviseable to take Leptin Cocoa for health weight loss or would this affect the medications?
Avatar f tn I am very concerned about the blood pressure and my resting heart rate is 54 to 60. It is not under any control at all. At times it has gone to 173 over 103, but normally about 148 to 160 over 83 to 96. I have clonidine left over from when I was given it several years ago when I had a problem and when I take it ..sometimes the blood pressure does go down to normal.
Avatar n tn That might even be good as it is almost like getting a second opinion. Pain like this is listed as reason to check in with your doctor with the prescribing information. And if it is a weekend, doctors still take call. Meaning, someone has to talk to you if you are having a health concern. Call the office and they normally have an answering service set up that connects to the doctor. We leave our information and the doctor calls us back within an hour usually. So, do that.
1243333 tn?1296446902 m on numerous bp meds and even so my bp is extremely high (240/140 last Doc appointment), they have termed it malignant, at the last doc appointment she told me I'm going to have a stroke and possible another heart attack, I have repeatedly told all my doc's that I am having major issue with the meds they make me physically ill (to the point I've developed a ulcer), the last hospital stay when they discharged me they told me to tell the doc and they could put me on different meds, b
Avatar n tn I hope this is what happens for your friend too.
Avatar m tn this site really ***** what is the point of making it if there is no one to answer these questions medical help site FAIL!
Avatar m tn What is the reference range for the calcium and what is the exact level of PTH, with reference range? Your calcium seems to be slightly elevated, but that would depend on the reference range used by your lab. How often do you take the 50,000 iu of vitamin D? Maybe you need to take it more often?
Avatar f tn Had a large tumor and total thyroidectomy removed 3 weeks ago. The past few days having dull but strong headaches that go into my ear, down my jaw into my neck. I'm taking 100 mcg of Levothyroxine a day and 2 Calcitrol a day. My calcium was very low after surgery.
Avatar f tn Hi, My doctor has diagnosed a mild calcification of the aortic valve and mild to moderate aortic regurgitation. I also have mild hypertension which is controlled with Irbesartan. I'm 50 and don't seem to have any symptoms but what can I expect and what can I do to improve my condition.
492329 tn?1290883385 Try to relax and not worry. My husband is 42 and has blood pressure is as high as yours. He is not worried and on a water pill to bring the blood pressure down. My heart flutters and beats differently at times and sometimes feels strange, but it has done this most of my life and there is nothing found wrong to date. Warning symptoms are chest pains, shortness of breath, water weight gain (gaining a pound every day).
Avatar n tn for probably close to 4 years now. My current primary care says it is just because I take verapamil for migraine prevention but don't have high blood pressure. This doesn't sound reasonable to me. I am 37 and wonder if I need a referral to a cardiologist.
Avatar m tn s possible that my blood pressure meds could be causing my shortness of breath. Supposedly I should not stop taking them, as that is what I would normally do to see if drugs were causing my issues. Does anyone know? My average readings are 134/72/72. on the medications. Irbesartan 300mg. I have been on these drugs for about two or three years now.
Avatar m tn The doctors have not been very helpful, except to scare me to death and cause confusion as to what I should do to correct this problem. The condition is most certainly caused from long term use of steroids. My life feels like it's falling apart because I am craving steroids now due to my stopping the steroids just 2 months ago. I need some advice on how to get my testoterone back to normal levels without damaging my heart any further.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago, the other side hurt after running. It was hurting in the morning and then got better. Now, the pain is pretty much gone, but my legs are heavy and tingling somewhat below the knee. (not in a line down from the back, JUST below the knee.) Should I just wait to see what will happen or should I seek medical attention. (I'd rather wait...) J.D.
Avatar n tn I have no idea what a bladder sphincter is, but maybe you could explain it to me. The only other problem I have that I didn"t mention is when urinating , quite often I have a split stream. One stream goes where it's supposed to, and the goes down the front of my pants.I am taking high blood pressure medication - Avalide. Also I am taking vytorin , Foradil, and spirvia. I drink a lot water at night because my mouth is so dry, from the last two items.
Avatar m tn I got divorced two years ago. Since then I have developed serious addictions. I am now an alcoholic and drink anywhere from a half a fifth to a whole fifth of 100 Proof whiskey almost on a daily basis. Another weird addiction is I have become addicted to making myself throw up which I do several times a day. I get a sensation like I am purging out my anxiety and stress in a way which I don't understand. I want to stop all these things but I can't.
Avatar n tn org/medical-information/show/804/Atrial-fibrillation-flutter The first considerations with AFIb is the prevention of clots, a simple aspirin a day (with a meal is best) is a big help here, and controlling HR, keep it from going too high. Here a beta blocker is usually used (a prescription drug). If the symptoms are severe, they are not for many people, more aggressive drugs and invasive procedures may be the best path to a solution.
Avatar n tn I went for an MRI of my breast and found out that over the past four years my aortic root has dilated from 3.3 in 2005 to 3.7 in 2009. The biggest jump from 2008-2009 3.4 to 3.7cm. Does this mean I have an aneurysm? I don't have any of the risk factors. I am not overweight, have low blood pressure, never smoked, don't drink over 1 glass of wine. So what is the risks and what is the prognosis?
Avatar m tn If you didnt have symptoms and that was an isolated event, your physician may lean towards continuing you on atenolol. It really is the gold standard for what he is trying to accomplish which is to protect your "moderately concentrically hypertrophied" ventricle from increasing in size from over work. Fortunately, all of the other features of your heart look good. Other alternatives like calcium channel blockers dont provide the same protection to the ventricle.
