What is a epipen used for

Common Questions and Answers about What is a epipen used for

epipen

Avatar f tn It should only be used in case of life threatening allergic reaction. Epipen is known to be associated with shaking esp. when the larger doses are taken. You should not take more than recommended dose; otherwise you may land up in complication. This is due to stimulation of the muscles. Hence, epipen should be better used under doctor's observation. If you are allergic to water following measures will help you- - Stay away from water as long as possible. - Avoid going in rain outside.
Avatar n tn I have some serious allergies and often they close my throat. I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
645800 tn?1466860955 My land-line phone goes out about every other month for weeks at a time, and even when it is working most of the time t is so noisy that it is hard to hear anyone. My cell phone is also not that reliable as I barely get any signal most of the time. I also don't have any neighbors near enough to be able to hear any kind of alarm as the nearest one is almost never home.
Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?
Avatar n tn Most of the time in some situations epinephrine is used to save people from arrhythmia. I would go with the epipen and feel safe with it.
Avatar f tn m understanding is correct, you will see your doctor in 2 weeks, for a check up, they will draw blood and it would be another 2 weeks before you'd go back to get results, which means that you might actually be 4 weeks out from a med adjustment. This is how my previous doctor used to operate. Am I somewhere near correct? If this is right, you might want to ask if you can go get the blood draw now, so when you go for your check up in 2 weeks, they will already have results.
4451049 tn?1387153437 The oldest reference (that I'm aware of) to 'what is a Herx?' when applied to Lyme disease is this one by Donna Herrell. http://www.angelfire.com/biz/romarkaraoke/Herx.html Now the word Herx is applied helter-skelter. One woman wondered if her newly applied nail polish gave her a 'Herx'. A Herx is real and presents with mild to severe problems. And the ever-asked but never decided "What is a Herx?
1639028 tn?1300617084 if you do do you struggel emotionally as well? what is it like for you? what symptoms do you get? how many reactions have you suffered from?

Avatar m tn I was just wondering if ere was a name for this and what keywords I should be searching for in American online pharmacies because I really can't afford a doctor's visit to see what I'm allergic to and I have an epipen from my shellfish allergy.
230262 tn?1316645934 d suggest you get a pediatric Epipen. Personally I keep 2 on hand. You should have 1 at school for him and one either in your purse or at home. He should have one available at all times. These allergies accelerate quickly. Check for dosage with your doctor, but you can also use benadryl for allergic reactions. I'm so sorry this happened to your children. These stings hurt horribly! And right now with school starting, you all have enough on your plate. Good luck at the clinic tonight.

Avatar f tn Several years ago my friend made a walnut cake- not 10 minutes later, my throat closed- rushed to hospital- given a shot- Dr said NEVER touch a walnut again- some so badly allergic to- so, if we are out, I always ask HOSTS what is in a dish--
Avatar f tn The other day my friend had a major asthma attack that almost sent him to the ER-- he thankfully had an epipen nearby. He thinks what triggered it was a laxative (sennosides in pill form) he took a couple of hours before. Is this even possible? And if so, should he be avoiding all things laxative? I wouldn't be asking these questions here, but he is too stubborn to go to a doctor like he should.
Avatar f tn My friend is desperate. Sofia is going to be starting college in a few weeks and is very worried. This has been going on for too long without any answers. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Avatar m tn I went out last night and was having a good time, I normally carry an epipen for my anaphylactic allergies but haven't had allergies for two years, I'm only Allergic to latex and bananas. I poured my own drinks because we had bottle service but then had to make a quick call so I handed my drink to one of my girlfriends and went outside, when I came back she had gone to the bathroom and had left my drink on the table I didn't think much of it and continued to drink my drink.
Avatar n tn Just wondering what an ultrasound might be used for as opposed to a diagnostic mammogram? Is one procedure better at diagnosing certain things and the other procedure better for other things? I've always read that ultrasounds are not really used to identify calcifications, but mainly to look for cysts, solid masses, etc. Wondering why he felt an ultrasound was necessary. Do some masses show up on ultrasounds that aren't picked up on mammograms?
Avatar n tn No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it. Does anyone know of a common allergy to food additives or preservatives. I have to eat out a good bit for my business and am getting very nervous about eating in restaurants. How can I narrow down what is causing these problems?
Avatar n tn I am waiting on the skin biopsy results to see if that is the diagnosis. This is not encouraging to me. I really was hoping for a food allergy...something I can intentionally avoid. Now I can't even figure out what triggers my "episodes". I seem to react highly to cinnamon and definitely try to avoid that.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
