glucosamine

161647 tn?1280608163 I neglected to mention that my mom does have the start of a cataract. The doctor noticed it last year and said it was very very small and the size has not changed. He checked her macula for damage and did an OCT scan. He is not sure at this point why her vision in her left eye has changed so much and I think that is why he is suggesting a retina specialist. He said the cataract being very small is not likely to be the reason for vision loss.
Avatar n tn Obviously, the more those muscles are used, the more chance of them building up. But he sounds as if he is getting on in years, and has maybe slowed down generally? How old is he? And what is his general condition? If arthritis is causing weakness in his legs, maybe if you could alleviate the arthritis somewhat, he would be capable of more vigorous exercise? I would certainly give him a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement.
Avatar n tn He is very thin, dislikes heat, has a weak digestive system, cataracts in both eyes. I’d like him to gain weight but too much food causes diarrhea. I considered Liquidambar 15 but I read something about Sin Miao for his possible arthritis. Would glucosamine help him? I appreciate any input.
Avatar m tn However, you will know when it is time to put your dog down. It sounds like he has some life left and if he still has pleasure then just bear with the old guy. I would hate to be put down just cause I got old- looks both ways at her kids-- don't do it!
Avatar m tn My baby girl is a 5-year-old 17.5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
1093971 tn?1257833640 What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.
Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.

441382 tn?1452810569 Ginger, thanks so much for your quick response! I am going to send DH off tomorrow in search of tablets that only contain glucosamine/chondroitin. His knees are really hurting him, as well, so both he and Kate will be on it as soon as he finds what we're looking for. I hope it works as quickly for my little family as it did for yours! Thanks again!
Avatar n tn My vet said it was ok to get human vitamins for them. He also said it was ok to feed food with glucosamine plus the vitamins.
Avatar n tn s probably just age creeping up on him. What type of glucosamine product are you using on him? How long has he been on it? Those products don't work right away. Oftentimes you don't see any results at all for at least 30 days, and you don't get to peak performance until the pet has been taking it for six months or more. So unless he has been on the glucosamine for half a year or more, I wouldn't give up yet and say that it hasn't done much.
1110049 tn?1409402144 The point was in this news article, that it is a waste of time take glucosomine and chondroitin. It says has no effect on arthritis. Yet I am taking it because I was told it would help. I cannot take NSAIDS because of internal bleeding. Are we wasting time and money taking glucosomine??
Avatar f tn s when he started taking the glucosamine and a week after the tube was sucked in completely , and vomiting started then doctors blamed it to glucosamine.
4190741 tn?1370177832 Sophia is my 6 year old fat cat, long story short, she was abused before I adopted her and locked in a small space most of the time../since I adopted her she has full run of the house and enjoyed jumping and running and playing with her toys. She fell off the back of the couch in April and broke her front paw. With excellent Vet care she has recovered but just in the past month she has taken to her bed and only ventures out to go to the litter box or eat her meals.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried using n-acetyl glucosamine in conjunction with their normal insulin regamin (UCI study in August showed it might help)? My 10 year old type 1 diabetic son (diagnosed in 2002) has been taking 3 mg of n-acetyl glucosamine each day for 3 months, and we have seen a reduction in the amount of insulin he needs of about 10 % and a "evening out" of his blood sugars.
Avatar f tn I also heard of extra virgin coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I am really tempted to mix all these and give it a try. Has anyone tried these? or are there any other natural remedies? My dog has been on metacam but it doesn't work very well, I can tell she is still in pain. My dad keeps telling us to just put her to sleep so she can rest and not be in pain anymore. I want to do everything I can for her before even considering that. Am I wrong?
Avatar n tn my mother in law is on coumadin and has arthritis in her knees and back. Can she take or use things like ginger,or glucosamine sulfate without affecting the coumadin?
Avatar n tn I experienced it since I was a child, now I'm 22 and it's getting worst especially when I'm sitting in a car for a long period of time and when I want to straight or move it, that's the time that the pain will got worse, I can't even move my knee! but though i can move my toes. Even when I walk or kneel, their is a mild pain. And for some time, even in my left femoral bone area there is a local pain in front of my leg.
2121656 tn?1395674749 now and licks it all the time. At first she chewed a hole in it, thankfully we were able to get that healed. We took her to the Vet and he moved her leg around to see if she was in any pain and she doesn't appear to have pain in it. We are puzzled as to why she's limping, could it be arthritis? also, I have a concern because all she does is sleep, very sluggish and won't eat her big bones anymore. She is eating her food and drinking. Thank you for your assistance.
Avatar f tn No glucosamine/chondroitin will not do that. I hope it does as much for your knees as mine which have been pain free for over a decade since I started taking them It took about 3 months but I went from constant pain to no pain.
Avatar n tn She experiences stiffness in the hands when she wakes up in the morning. She has also fainted couple of times after severe pain in the neck. She is also experiencing pain in both the shoulders and neck. Multiple doctors have tried multiple things but nothing has helped more than adding minor improvement. Earlier her HB was very low which is well in the range since last one year but even then her pain has not gone completely though the pain has reduced.
