Common Questions and Answers about Wellbutrin xl how long does it take to work

wellbutrin

Avatar n tn Anway, even though the name brand is more expensive than the generics, I switched back to Wellbutrin XL because it works much better at keeping me stabilized. Hope this helps from experience!
Avatar f tn I'm going to ask my doc about this, was hoping to take the Lexapro at night since it's so sedating and the Wellbutrin in the morning to be productive and actually not feel like a loser at work. Just curious...
Avatar n tn Just started Wellbutrin XL 150mg a week ago. How long before it works and I also heard you might lose some weight on it how long before that usually happens?
Avatar n tn I don't know if your panic attack had anything to do with the Wellbutrin, because it does take a while before it has any effect. I tend to think your state of mind - your feelings about yourself, your depression, your anxiety - are the real triggers. You can also talk to your doctor about additional medication to treat panic attacks, btw, but again, I think therapy is essential to getting better. I wish you all the best.
Avatar n tn ve just read that once you stop taking it, you can gain the weight back. I was hoping to only take Wellbutrin for 6-9 months than stop taking it. Is the boost in metabolism truly only temporary? Will one gain weight after stopping to take Wellbutrin?
Avatar n tn When I started wellbutrin the pharmacist told me not to take it to close to bedtime because it is sort of an upper. I found this to be true. I also take Paxil, which for me has a very smoothing effect for anxiety. It was too smoothing as I felt like a zombie during the day. I was taking it in the morning and my doctor said to take it before bed. That worked.
Avatar n tn When the doctor prescribes a medicine, either say right then and there that you don't plan to take it, or get it filled and take it as prescribed. Don't leave the office seething, and thinking that you know better than these medical professionals. Be responsible. Act as an adult. You cannot blame the doctor if you are the one who is not following the proscribed advice and schedule of medicines. You are playing Russian Roulette with your life.
Avatar f tn I have been taking it for about a week and feel like I did before I started meds. How long until it works if it is going to work at all? Also did anyone stick with an SSRI and the anorgasmia went away or changed their SSRI to mornings and had better results with anorgasmia.
370801 tn?1264408618 Tommorow I am going back to the doctor and I am trying to decided what to ask to do .. My idea was to take 100mg SR twice a day. But I'm afraid to get Wellbutrin over Bupropian because I feel too good on Bupropian so far. I know this sounds funny but almost too good. LIke for about 4-6 hours after taking the 100 mg I feel pretty euphoric and my sex drive is back. But by mid afternoon the following day or even noonish I'm down in the dumps.
370801 tn?1264408618 Tyrsosine alone is enough not to take it. It does indeed increase dopamine levels which is not a good thing. It made me psychotic for this very reason as well as raising my blood pressure to the point where if I hadn't been on Atenolol (for other reasons) I might have died. You really need to go off this "sports supplement" and yes research is good.
370801 tn?1264408618 It has had the opposite effect on me I find, making me more relaxed or sleepy at times. I take the Wellbutrin XL at 8am everyday. By the time 5pm rolls around, I want to hit the gym. I live in dreary climate.. London, and I find I need something to help me weight train and have energy, get results etc. so I started taking a Bsn product some might consider controversial called No Xplode - ingredients listed below -- a nitric oxide / caffiene supplement.
Avatar m tn I forgot to say, the reason she kept overdosing was more of a cry for help as the doctors didn't seem to be doing anything she felt like it was her way to prove to them how unhappy she was. However as much as I've tried to stress to them that this has only been since the medication change they still haven't changed them.
Avatar n tn I think we're going to get a divorce, if only to protect my children and myself. At this point, I have no idea how to help him or what he should do. Any advice or suggestions would be helpful.
1390847 tn?1344661068 From a professional standpoint, I believe Wellbutrin to be a great medication and have worked with many clients who have found it to be incredibly helpful. I have yet to hear of any "failures" with regard to Wellbutrin. In general, Wellbutrin takes about 4 weeks to start working. Side effects of Wellbutrin SR include agitation, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, insomnia, nausea, rash, sweating, and/or weight loss.
Avatar f tn 5 months does seem like a long time to endure depression. 5 minutes is a long time to endure depression. But in reality, 5 months is barely enough time to find the right medication. You should have tried several by now. Oh, Effexor is sometimes given for anxiety if I'm not mistaken and also for pain. I'm surprised they haven't tried it yet, unless there is a reason.
Avatar n tn However, my question is if anyone has lost weight on Wellbutrin sr 300mg, how long did it take to lose the weight and how much? What did it do to you, suppress your apetite or just made you lose weight? Please respond back if you can answer any of these questions, im in desperate need of some answers and hope ! ! Thank you.
Avatar f tn Sorry, my question was will this have any lasting effects on my heart or body and when can I expect that I will be back to normal? For instance, how long does it take to get out of my system? I'll be going back to the Doctors that treated me and have them re-run the blood work, etc. I'm really surprised you have not heard of this before, could you perhaps look it up? I think people could be really suffering out there like I was and they really need to be put back on the TOPROL XL brand.
Avatar f tn In the past I've taken wellbutrin for depression but got off of it because I felt that was able to cope with my problems on my own without medication. It's been 3 years since I've last taken it and when I took it before I don't remember getting perscribed xanax. So, my questions is...I do remember that my doctor saying previously that wellbutrin is best to be taken in the morning because it's supposed to keep you up...but why would they put me on xanax with it...
Avatar f tn Here is the Thomas Recipe. I copied the whole thing. You can find the sleep stuff in it and go from there. Good Luck my friend. I hate depression but it has been part of my life as long as I can remember. Just kicked me in the butt in my 40's. Thomas Detox Recipe PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, simply a long-time Rx opiate junkie who has had many opportunities to develop a way to detox.
Avatar m tn How long did they last? How long does it take for the AD to start working? When I tried Lexipro some months ago (for two days) I noticed a spurt of energy right away. But nothing yet. Shrink says it will take several weeks. Hope this finds everyone well.
Avatar f tn These side effects peter out as someone gets used to meds, in that 6 to 8 weeks it takes for the med to work. But other side effects that are longer lasting begin around then or after if you are going to have them. But we DO appreciate your contribution to the forum and hope you come back!
Avatar m tn So the fact that playing with your brain neurotransmitters, something that Chantix does as well, makes you feel better than you did doesn't mean you were depressed, it means you felt a bit better because nicotine causes an increase in dopamine release and Chantix mimics this effect as it blocks nicotine from attaching to nicotine receptors.
Avatar n tn I'm not taking Effexor, Prozac or Zoloft. I plan to ask for a higher dose of Wellbutrin but, I'd like to know how long it takes to start working before I do this. My doctor seems to think it should start working fairly early after you start taking the drug, but I don't trust her. Also, she mentioned Ritalin. Has anyone taking Ritalin? I heard the side effects are pretty bad. What about adderall? Thanks for your response. Sorry if it looks like I crammed 50 questions into my essay.
Avatar f tn I was taking 300mg Xl for about 8 months, then I would forget to take it one day, take it the next, forget 5 days, etc. I went do the Dr. which was very hard, I almost passed out trying to make an appointment. We thought it was my thyroid or hypothaimus causing me to sweat, feel weak, nausiease, sweat when it's 60 degrees, etc. We found everythign was normal, then he asked me about my Wellbutrin, I told him, and he said that he was suprised I wasn't in the hospital under intensive care.
Avatar f tn So if you're on Cipralex, the thing to do is take it long enough to see if it works. If it works but you need something more, that's when you add a drug. If it doesn't work at all or very well, you don't add to it, you try something else. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn However, lack of evidence does not mean it won't work. And it will be reasonable (no published evidence) to say that it won't cause more harm than a rapid taper or stopping it cold turkey. You may stick with the old plan for Xanax for the first week or so of the XR 150 alternate day dosage. If you observe no symptoms of discontinuation, you can reduce the Xanax to your new plan of 1/2 tab twice a day.
Avatar n tn I just posted regarding hypnotherepy...does it work? I am willing to try it. Waxorlando, are you still angoraphobic? I have the anxiety without depression and so far the small dose of xanax I take curbs the anxiety, (which I have taken for 12 years as needed...see my post if interested, that I put up March 28th) but I have an extreme phobia of Vomiting which leads into most of my anxiety in some way and I am wondering if the hypnotherapey can rid me of this annoyance.
Avatar n tn i copied a lot of information off the computer today and i'd really like to slap it in my doctors' face. how long does this go on? how am i going to work tomorrow. sorry about this being so long, but i'm desperate for answers. help????
587279 tn?1223704355 From what I have read an allergic reaction to a drug is an autoimmune reaction, sometimes that is all it takes to begin an autoimmune po rocess, although many people take it and our fine. I read fda reports and three people developed ms when the first started wellbutrin, now was it Wellbutrin triggering an immune reation or these people may very well have developed it anyways, there is no way to prove it either way.
5050843 tn?1362873926 Sad to say I decided to continue with Zoloft and will most likely take it for the rest of my life. I would love to switch to Wellbutrin, but too afraid of going thru the withdrawal of Zoloft. I give Terra222 much credit for sticking it out this long. I agree with her totally, it takes months to wean yourself off of Zoloft, not days or week like the Dr.'s tell us.
