After 10 years of use, I have weaned myself off of Paroxtetine and Wellbutrin XL. It took 2 months with the aid of St.John's Wort. Now I have ceased that usage. The downside to this is my sleep cycle is totally screwed up. I an waking at 3-4 am everyday and am unable to sleep during an afternoon nap.
Will a more suitable sleep pattern ensue?
my doctor has me on paxil 40 mg and wellbutrin xl 300 mg ..... is this combination beneficial to me cuz every since i've combined the two i been feeling more depressed than ever and i cant sleep at night so she has me on restoril for that ..... am i heading in the right direction? or am i making things worse?
Can you please tell me if Wellbutrin XL will help with anxiety issues. Or can the medication Cymbalta be of better use?
Sounds like it's mostly the withdrawal from the Paxil. Going on and coming off Paxil are always really horrible. Symptoms will subside once your Seretonin starts firing normally again.
You may want to start taking 5HTP to help with the withdrawal. You can buy this product at any drugstore or even walmart. It really does work to increase seretonin.
I was on Paxil also for many years and I switched and went on Wellbutrin XL 150mg. Let me tell you I think the depression was lifted but the side effects were not something I could live with. I also burst into tears and was hostile and very irritable at times and had lots of anxiety! That didn't go away so now I am weaning off. I did try to go up to 300mg and that made the side effects even worse. Everyone is different though so I can only speak for myself.
I wake up in the morning drenched. My doc and pharmacist both say it is a side effect of the Wellbutrin and that it should go away. It's been 3 weeks now and I am still sweating a lot! I take mine at night because I don't want it to affect my sleep. Although I see a lot of people take it morning...so I don't if I should be taking it at night .
Diagnosed with GAD and slight depression in 2001....Have taken paxil, celexa, effexor, xanax, and lexapro through the years but experienced weight gain of at least 40 lbs. My OB/GYN helped wean me off the meds this past spring but within the last month I have again started experiencing severe anxiety with bouts of depression. Family doc started me on Trazadone which just made me feel like a zombie and shortly after switched me to Wellbutrin 150mg daily.
Obviously the Paxil and Wellbutrin aren't working, but Paxil is a hard one to stop. But there you have it -- if you feel this way while taking these meds they just aren't working.
As of now I decided to take action and wean off the Wellbutrin and drop my p doc. I am going to another Dr. and try Lexapro . I hope this helps and gets me feeling less anxious all the time. I know its trial and error and I lucked out when my dr. prescribed paxil for me and it worked like a charm for 6 years. I didn't realize how difficult it can be to find the right med. I've been on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg once a day for a week now and while it helps tremendously with my depression and energy levels, it makes me more anxious and every so often I get a panic attack. I take 1mg Klonopin a day divided in quarters, should I take more? Doc wanted to put me on SSRI's but had a bad reaction to them so no....they're out.

(I did tell her the weight gain and constipation was a problem and wanted something that would not have those side effects before starting Wellbutrin). She just called me and said that my options are running low and that she thinks i am just anxious when taking a new drug! I am very drug sensitive I told her. she is now telling me that she is lowering the dosage of Neurotin to 100mg instead of 300mg and that it will take 2 months to get the full effect.
For several years now I've been taking Remeron, Paroxitine, Wellbutrin XL and Lithium; everything is at the top dosage. Only the Wellbutrin and Lithium I take during the day. These drops have been going on for quite some time, but now are the very worst they have been.
Last year I had to quit a part time job because of this and got on the sub list. Mornings are my best times til 9:30am, I push myself thru chores and if I do go to work I pray that is only for 3.5hrs.
I am trying to come off my meds (wellbutrin xl 150 and effexor xr 75) as I would like to become pregnant this year. All my Dr.s say I need to come off the meds. My DR. has me taking my wellbutrin 150 mg once every 3 days and had me take 1 37.5 mg of the effexor for 5 days and no more effexor just wellbutrin. I am feeling tired, nausea and headaches I asume due to no effexor. Should I have been prescribed the effexor diffrently?
My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...
I just spoke to my doctor about starting Zoloft and I'm so freaked out that I think I'm going to lose my mind! First off I went through the horror of the Paxil withdrawals and I hear that Zoloft is also very hard to get off of. I seem to have issues with anxiety and depression and my doctor seems to think that this will help with both of the issues as Paxil seemed to. Here's the catch though, when I was taking Paxil it totally killed my sex drive and made me very tired.
I had extreme success with the Wellbutrin. I also had an allergy reaction and was told i could never take it again and having been unable to find anything like that to help me since. My doctor refuses to let me take it now and the other drugs don't work like this one did. it was like having a real life with energy and a sex life, it was great . so if anyone hears of anything that works in the same fashion as wellbutrin please post it .
s tendency to interfere with erection, libido, and orgasm in males (and Lexapro is BAD in this respect). The normal dose of Wellbutrin after titrating up from 150mg is 300mg, preferably in the XL (released gradually over time) form, and the Lexapro is normally one 10mg tab QD. I have seen these two meds prescribed together this way for others.
I thought i was on zoloft with the paxil...but my doctor checked and it is paxil and wellbutrin...been on both since Sept. he decided the paxil alone wasn't working and added wellbutrin...but to me i do have the symptons as if i were on zoloft which the dr. said i wasn't...nurse didn't call me back after she got it straight with the dr. that i am on paxil and wellbutrin...maybe tomorrow. if not i will check with the pharmacy.

I was very recently prescribed Wellbutrin XL, after trying several medications that have not helped [including Wellbutrin SR]. When I saw my doctor, she simply said 'I'm putting you on Wellbutrin twice daily' and I assumed it would be the SR. But what I was given was XL, with the instructions to take it twice a day [morning and around noon]. My doctor's office is closed today, or I would have asked her. I did ask the pharmacist, and he said that yes, this is okay.
