577285 tn?1706032371 Blood Sugar Tracker for us diabetic's out there please. It would be an invaluable tool for us to track this VITAL READING. Not only could it be based on those little log books that we all gotta carry around getting all dog eared and full of blood stains as well as getting more expensive to buy , but we could easily make a copy and bring the professional looking and easy to read Chart / Tracker to our Doctors.
Avatar m tn Would checking your blood sugar level 3 hours after a meal be considered "BEFORE" OR "AFTER" a Meal.
Avatar f tn I have had T1D for 9 months now. The last week or so my blood sugar had been between 240-340 mg/dl and I can't get it to come down. What should I do?
Avatar m tn Start a written log of what you eat/drink and portion size, next to it your blood sugar levels. Test before you eat [preprandial] for a baseline measurement and then 2-3 hours after you finish your meal [postprandial]. You do have a home glucose test meter, right? By comparing preprandial with postprandial, postprandial will inform you which foods elevate your levels and which ones do not. You need to make a concentrated lifestyle change starting with foods.
Avatar m tn I am going to take 60000 iu/ml D3 weekly dose. Is it fine to take it weekly. Also I am taking one hour sun daily. My major concern is I am losing weight. I don't understand what is the cause. I lost significant weight. Mainly thigh area, heap and butt. I litterly feel the difference. Does any one faced this issue. Will there be any other cause? What should I do to gain weight. I am eating well. Taking 2 eggs every other day.
Avatar n tn You could work it out, I guess. Test your blood sugar. Then inject one unit of insulin and test 2 hours later to see how far your blood sugar has fallen. One unit is not likely to cause any dramatic problem. Please make sure you monitor your blood sugar closely when you are taking insulin as an overdose can be dangerous and and an underdose won't get your sugars down enough. Do you have a past log book as recommended by diabetes86? How high is your sugar?
Avatar f tn 37-40 weeks is considered full term. Congratulations you've made it to the end.
1285110 tn?1420147378 It has been suggested I dont do this challenge as there is a weekly one already underway and the fear is people will get confused! - so I am withdrawing from these boards - and the challenge is still ongoing - it was something I needed to do as I wanted a start date and a finsh date to push me on to see some results rather than just a weekly challenge which is ongoing on these boards.... 490398 tn?1319940717 A blood sugar of 239 two hours after eating is too high. It should be no higher than 180.
Avatar f tn Your insulin needs will likely change as baby grows. You will likely have to test your blood sugar more frequently to make sure your sugars are staying well controlled. Many mothers with diabetes have perfectly healthy babies. Your doctor will be able to give you more information but basically what you need to do right now is take a deep breath. Stress isn't good for your body or the baby you're growing. Continue a healthy diet and drink plenty of water and get your rest.
Avatar f tn For the past few years, I get really shaky and weak and my heart pounds right after I eat. It lasts a good hour and then I feel better. I told my doctor and she did a fasting blood sugar on me and it came back fine. But I feel fine if I don't eat. However, I have to force myself to eat because the longer I go without eating, the worse I feel after I finally do. I don't have other typical diabetes symptoms. What could this be?
Avatar n tn I am not an expert either, but from general knowledge as a nurse I would expect you to follow your diet plan as given, eating perhaps 4-5 small meals a day (if that is what your doctor has instructed you) and keeping near the 20 gm net carb limit, no matter what your blood sugar is. Just keep a log of what you eat and when, and a log of when and what your blood sugar is. That may help the doc figure out what YOUR body needs.
Avatar f tn s office and ask for their suggestion. In any case try to keep a daily log of your test results, average them out weekly then monthly, then your 3 mo avg. Take a copy of your log to the doctor's office.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your quick response. Your answers have helped. My meter is calibrated to the test strips that I use - it came pre-calibrated when I got it from the pharmacy (either that or THEY calibrated it for me before I picked it up) and each time I insert a test strip, it shows the calibration number so I can verify that it is the same. You mentioned a test solution - I did not receive any test solution with my meter or strips. Is this something that I can/should purchase separately?
Avatar n tn Do you mean low blood sugar? That is often related to our food and was thinking this was why your midwife recommended more frequent meals. I'd see an OB if this persists. Midwives are great but not doctors. I had the opposite of high blood pressure with my first pregnancy. I got weekly BP checks to monitor it. Not sure of complications of low blood pressure on pregnancy but if you are dizzy, that's a cause for concern due to falling. I'd see a true MD to discuss this.
Avatar f tn I had to change the way I ate to keep my blood sugar more even.. avoid foods that spike your blood sugar such as grains and sugars.. A piece of whole wheat bread will raise your blood sugar more than eating a chocolate bar...I changed to a paleo way of eating and it has done a world of good for me. More energy, perfect blood sugar, blood pressure and lost weight..
Avatar n tn what is the number of blood sugar in the morning afternoon and evening between meals and how many hours after food, thanks
7552771 tn?1469929649 GD is caused by a hormone made by the placenta. If you control your diet and watch carb & sugar intake per meal you should be able to control it. Taking your blood sugars 2hrs after each meal should give you a good idea on how your body is handling your insulin levels. I too have GD and so far so good on being controlled just with my diet. It is extremely important to keep yourself in check, granted it is hard!!! I keep a daily log, Am fasting and then 2hrs after each meal.
Avatar n tn An insulin pump is something you need to ask your endocronologist for help with. Blood sugar log books can be sent to you from the company that you have your meter through; just call them. Your local Diabetes Charity could probably point you in the right direction too. I'm assuming you already have a pump, but they are all different & you need to be taught how to use it properly.
917763 tn?1311628896 I just heard from my doctor office I got a 2 log drop. at 12 weeks. Yeah!! Don't know what the # were she would not say just that I had the drop and stay on my meds.
Avatar n tn If you also have joint pain or blood in your poop it could be inflammatory bowel disease. Definitely go see a doctor if you can and get a referral to a gastro-intestinal (GI) doctor. Goodluck!
223152 tn?1346978371 After 4 weeks of Ribavirin and Interferon, my viral load is 3920 IU/mL My pretreatment viral load was over 2,000,000 ( I got a QuantaSure and went over the upper limit of detection, but in October, 2010 it was 2,850,000). So, i got a 2-log drop. They are only looking for a 1-log drop after the lead in so I am in good shape. Interestingly, my first treatment the 4-week viral load was 2380 IU/ML so it would appear I am reponding to tx in much the same way.
2094297 tn?1345389093 increase protein, good fats and veggies, decrease bad fats and sugar/starch. This will keep you satiated, reduce your blood sugar, reduce your inflammation markers. Here some meal ideas: unsweetened low fat yoghurt with LSA or nuts and apples for breakfast, some eggs. A handful of nuts for a snack. Lunch: huge salad with mixed veggies and greens with thuna or a grilled steak. Celery with almond butter or carrots stick with hummus as a snack.
Avatar n tn So you tested 5 times, if each test covers 1 minute of blood sugar. A day has 1440 minutes in a day and you tested only 5 of them.
