Avatar n tn ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
1069105 tn?1256700412 I take 5 mg of Warfarin a day for my AFib. I also take a low dose aspirin. I manage to maintain a INR between 2 and 3, the desired range. That means while I have "thinned" blood, my bleeding risk is managed by keeping the INR below 3. I have permanent AFib, that is I have constant AFib, not just episodes from time-to-time. I am 70 years old.
612551 tn?1450022175 8, my cardiologist tells me to take an extra 1/2 warfarin does for one or even two nights. My regular is 5 mg at bedtime. Then, given my history of being stable they do not ask me for a followup check until my regular every 4 weeks. I still go to the hospital for blood tests. Now for me I can also say when I am over, say 3.2, I don't have any bleeding problems that I can detect, thus my fear of going over 3.0 is minimal. I believe people with a mechanical valve are normally in the 3.
Avatar f tn t available so I was seen by an FNP. She diagnosed a mild UTI and prescribed Cipro 250 mg 2x a day for five days. After taking the third tablet all hell broke loose: my vision got so blurred I couldn't see, I couldn't urinate for fifteen hours, and I had diarrhea for nine hours straight. I stopped taking the medicine(missed one dose so far). It's the weekend and the office is closed for the Monday holiday so it will be four days before I can talk to the doctor.
Avatar m tn A visit to my doctor yesterday indicated atrial fibrillation after an EKG. I started a 5 mg. dose of warfarin sodium yesterday. I am to see a cardiologist later in the week. In the meantime, I am wondering what sort of activities I should avoid. I normally use the hot tub in the morning to relax my stiff back. Is that a problem? i play a lot of golf and walk and carry my bag usually. Is that a problem?
Avatar f tn 4 months ago she switched to pradax in place of warfarin. The family doctor prescribed 110 mg tablet per day..over the past few months she has made excellent progress. several weeks ago her alzeheimer specialist doubled her dosage..and my mother is slowly getting worse. I have 2 questions: 1) has anyone else experienced over dosage of blood thinners ( warfarin or bradax) with brain lining thinning and the onset of dementia symptoms?
Avatar m tn Some doctors will prescribe an 81 mg coated tablet of aspirin as an alternative to Warfarin if your risk factors are not that great. My suggestion is to get as many opinions as you can and don't let anyone tell you different. I have had several Cardiologists and EP Dr's who have all had their own unique ways of treating me and each time I have seen improvement with the additional insight. Good luck and God bless!
Avatar f tn Hi... I also was on Warfarin, but only for a month after undergoing an ablation. The procedure was on Jan.29 and i was put on warfarin for 30 days. I had a normal period in february but then in march it started and never really stopped. I've basically had my period for six months straight. could this possibly be from the warfarin to be going on for this long? Is there anything that could be done about this?
Avatar n tn In particular, Jantoven Tablets is crystalline warfarin sodium form. It is best that you check with your doctor also for proper management. Take care and regards.
4822967 tn?1367656696 However, if you check out the list at the beginning of the link, you will find that, in reality, from a 500 mg tablet of Mg oxide, you only absorb about 12 mg of ELEMENTAL Mg. In fact, because of its laxative effect, Mg oxide can actually deplete you of Mg. Mg glycinate delivers 100 mg per 500 mg tablet...better, but still nowhere near the 400 mg RDA of elemental Mg. So, it's a really good thing you didn't know THAT...oh my!
1223775 tn?1267017340 respected member, he is now treated witH KEFLEX /cephalexin/ bp 250 mg per 5 ml ,5ml dose tw times a day, and ACEFYL /acefylline piperazine/ 5ml dose three times a day.
Avatar f tn I have on many occassions stopped my warfarin for medical procedure reasons. I take only 5 mg a day. So, in my exlperience on can stop "cold turkey" without any problems other than an increased chance of blood clots and storke. I have several risk factors, oncluding permenant AFib, so I have no choice. I do not have many side effects from Warfarin, but I am on less than half the dose you are taking. Do discuss with your doctor at your earliest, surely within a week or two.

Avatar f tn My only experience is Warfarin (generic Coumaden) for about 15 years. I'm at 5 mg daily, and 7.5 mg a couple of times a week. I am always in the 2-3 range, and guess Warfarin would hold be at 2.5 + if I took 7.5 mg a day. I am not suggesting a dose change, just sharing experience. I eat green vegetables/salads often and it doesn't seem to make any big change.
