Avatar f tn I was on warfarin for 6 months and a dvt in the popliteal vein. when my inr went up due to being on anti inflammotories- I had severe neck pain and nothing else helped- my inr nurse told me to increase my vitamin k veggies and this worked well to keep it even. When it went down my dose was increased and or I was told to skip green veggies that day and take an extra dose. I went for testing nearly every week during the time I was on warfarin due to lots of fluctuations.
Avatar m tn 9 Months ago I had a DVT, Which broke off and became a PE. The DVT was in my Left Knee, and after 3 months of using Warfarin and several Ultrasounds and VQ Scans Later I was diagnosed as Fine and no more need for the Warfarin.

Avatar f tn I haven't tried this. I recently had a dvt. I was on warfarin for 6 months and now I've stopped it. I am still wearing the compression socks, but only 8-15 compression now... I still have symptoms of pain/tingling etc. blood flowing around in my calfs.. it got worse again after being off warfarin. I plan to go to my vascular surgeon soon to ask about this. I took a look at that and it looks very cumbersome to wear that... do you think it would be better than socks?
Avatar m tn Need advice...my husband has had a dvt in his leg below knee for three months. Last week he hit his shin at work and now leg is really swollen and purple especially on the heel. he has been on coumadin since initial diagnosis and also his doctor put him on lovenox shots for ten days. The lovenox was also given short term when he was diagnosed. There was another ultrasound done when he injured his leg and now they are not sure if he developed another clot or if this is the same clot.
Avatar n tn i went for a ct scan because of shortness of breath and previous history of a dvt in my leg 18 months ago, im 41male previous DVT, increasing exertional dyspnoea the conclusion was no central pulmonary embolus.
2064754 tn?1333375663 Hi there, Deep vein thrombosis is caused by a deep clot formed in the veins. You should consult a vascular surgeon. They treat it with medications or minimally invasive procedures. You may see a primary physician first. After a clinical examination he may further refer you to a vascular surgeon. Do keep me posted with more queries. Best luck and kind regards!
Avatar f tn Given his age, and history of blood in stool and falls, it is reasonable to keep him on warfarin (coumadin), especially due to the evidence in people over 75 on Pradaxa, and the difficulty of reversal with Xarelto given his falls history. However, all of this should be discussed with his physician, and final decision will depend on many factors which go beyond the scope of this forum, including his physical exam and current health status.
Avatar f tn re on a blood thinner like warfarin for some reason, they may aim for 2.0 - 3.0. In some cases where clotting is a real problem they may push it up to 2.5 to 3.5. Does that help? Do you have a heart or clotting disorder? Work with your doctor on that. They can control it but you'd have to be monitored regularly.

681348 tn?1226596590 I am a 45 year old male who suffered a snapped tendon in my leg. After the operation to fix it I suffered a Pulmanary Embolisim (PE) blocking my main pulmanary artery & segmental / sub segmental arteries bilaterally. The PE was caused by an extensive thrombosis (DVT) after surgery to my leg. The PE caused me to get very breathless & go blue etc. On my way to the ambulance I suffered a further attack and the ambulance ECG showed I was in VT.
Avatar m tn Im a 27 year old male. I was diagnosed with a DVT in my right leg on Jan 8th 2013. Currently Im on Coumadin. 10mg a day everyday. My INR was last checked two days ago and is 2.3. The ER drew some blood when I initially went in with DVT symptoms and I was told a week later that I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome and that's what supposedly caused my clot. How exactly will my body dissolve the clot if I have APS (antiphospholipid antibody syndrome)? With APS I am more prone to clot.
1090423 tn?1286287650 but a health care provider told me when my dvt treatment clexane and warfarin was started that my headaches would go , and they did , i just hope they stay away
Avatar f tn My only experience is Warfarin (generic Coumaden) for about 15 years. I'm at 5 mg daily, and 7.5 mg a couple of times a week. I am always in the 2-3 range, and guess Warfarin would hold be at 2.5 + if I took 7.5 mg a day. I am not suggesting a dose change, just sharing experience. I eat green vegetables/salads often and it doesn't seem to make any big change.
Avatar f tn In the case of the nose simply sprayed in if bleed in minor, or sprayed on cotton balls and that are then inserted in the nose to block flow. This may be enough to stop the bleeding, if not it would still be an aid in the trip to the hospital. Sorry if I went off target, but given you are having what appears to be internal bleeding you may want to consider having emergency first-aid tools on had should you cut yourself (I do that) or have a nose bleed for any reason.
Avatar m tn Then it showed up an hour later with redness, swelling and pain near the site. I was already on warfarin for a dvt in my leg at the time. They say not to exercise if you have clots as this can move them to your lungs, heart or brain. I would go to a doctor and ask them to check you out to see what caused this.
Avatar f tn The pain started very suddenly, with sharp pains every time i took a breath, movement and fluttering sensations when still. I was in hospital for over a week and was put on warfarin for six months. I am still very concerned as it is now 6 weeks later and i am still experiencing pains in my chest, sometimes sharp but mainly like a dull, heavy sensation. I am on morphine 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg at night and oramorph in the day when necessary, if the pain worsens.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy on January 25, 2010. I developed a DVT in the right shoulder (same arm as IV during surgery). The DVT was diagnosed about nine days following the surgery. I was admitted to a different hospital and spent 6 days there. My issue and question has to do with how often should my primary care doctor check my INR level. He has been having me go to the lab once per week. Last week my INR was 2.9 and I have been taken 5mg of warfarin. This week my INR was 6.6.
