Vyvanse vs provigil

Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse vs provigil

vyvanse

Avatar f tn I was recently put on adderall to help combat some of the excessive fatigue and trouble focusing I'm having related to my disease and medications. The doc choose this med over provigil because of cost. Does anyone have experience with taking either of these for excessive fatigue or focusing issues? I'd just like to know how it worked for you.
1401877 tn?1288107639 Your cardiologist is probably the best person to ask about this. Given the "I am not a doctor nor a pharmacist" spiel, my best *guess* would be that the Vyvanse would be the most likely of your meds to conflict with POTS.
Avatar f tn on the addictions forum someone brought up the topic provigil for energy, i have been clean for a while now but i have hep so my energy level is very low, and i also have under active thyroid so my question is this, when i researced this new drug i found """PROVIGIL is a federally controlled substance (C-IV) because it has the potential to be abused or lead to dependence. Please use PROVIGIL only as directed and keep in a safe place to prevent misuse and abuse.
Avatar f tn It's been a rough two weeks. The Provigil worked well at the start. I was like my old self. It was amazing. Then after a few days I noticed by the end of the week that my heart was beating erratically. I reduced the dose and the heart palpatations went away. However now I notice that my left eye is blurry. At first I was trying to adjust to my glasses and several times, sure enough, there was a spot on the glasses.
1549092 tn?1297046311 I think you will find the information useful as it compares Vyvanse vs Adderall XR. Do make sure you also click on their ADHD link at the top of the page once you have finished reading. The site is - http://healthlifeandstuff.com/2009/07/vyvanse-vs-adderall-simple-vs-complex. You also might want to check out another very good site for adult ADD. Its has a different approach to the matter as it is all done with videos and was recently featured in a special on PBS.
405614 tn?1329144114 The side effects look a lot worse than those listed for Provigil. I wonder how long the patent on Provigil lasts, and when there will be a generic form? Does anyone else have trouble getting medications that they need or that are really helpful in improving your quality of life? Ess and I discussed on another thread how both our insurances only allow you to get half a month's worth of Ambien. Are we only supposed to sleep every other day?
Avatar f tn Vyvanse is metabolized differently, so could last longer in your system. It was done so you could not snort it like you can with Adderall. Adderall gives a stronger first "hit". V is smoother and takes longer to take effect so may not be as noticeable. Also the Dose of V should be 30mg compared to 10mgs of adderall XR to be somewhat equal.
Avatar n tn My initial concern was sleepiness. I tried welbutrin and it knocked me out, provigil did the same. I've been on the new Vyvanse for a few weeks now and it is too good to be true. I feel like the person I always wanted to be: Alert, funny, not compulsive with food But now the fears begin. I'm terrified and obsessed with the idea that this is a honeymoon period and it will all wear off. I constantly search the boards for a confirmation of this fear.
Avatar m tn I know what you mean when you refer to Adderall as "that nasty, gross stimulant." I have been taking a total of 30 mg Adderall for about 6 mths now. It works great during the day, and has changed my life tremendously. I am able to complete the 200 projects that I start on everyday. But insomnia has made me it's ***** at night! If I could guess what a crack head feels like when coming down, the Adderall "comedown" would compare to it.
2164295 tn?1337019528 I am currently taking Vyvanse 70mg in the morning, 10mg of Adderall (short acting) in the evening, and trying to implement a daily nap schedule. Over the last year the cataplexy I experience has increased and my muscle tone has decreased. I lost my job in September of 2011, because I was having such difficulty getting up to go to work and staying awake at work. I have tried taking Wellbutrin XL for the cataplexy but I don't think it has really done much.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, not sure why he has chosen the "booster" vs a larger vyvanse dose. I guess I should ask him at the next appt.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
1666464 tn?1303225358 //healthlifeandstuff.com/2009/07/vyvanse-vs-adderall-simple-vs-complex/ I think it completely answers question #1. Question #2. One thought is that since V has to work in the digestive system, and since Pepto-bismo coats that system, it must stop it from working. But let me go off an a tangent here. You mention how V is now causing you anxiety. While that can happen, something like adderall is much more prone to do so.
1710955 tn?1309446473 The propanolol increases the Provigil in the blood. I only take 100 mg. of Provigil. I have tried other medicines for fatigue and they don't work for me. I don't have any adverse effect and it actually makes me feel human. Typically, the medicines used for attention deficit disorder or ADHD are used to combat fatigue.
Avatar n tn I suffer from depression, and anxiety. the depression meds. make me sleepy during the day. I have been on provigil, nuvigil, and adderall before. main problems were chest and nasal convestion, constant clearing of my throat like something is stuck in it, and even facial ticks. if anyone knows of any other stimulants that don't have those side effects, or side effects not that severe. plz let me know! Tks!!
990354 tn?1307132886 Hey I am worried about my sister! She is on Vyvanse right now at thiry mgs but does NOT take it daily. Her husband takes twenty mgs of Adderall daily, and sometimes she will take an adderall instead of a vyvanse. Is this safe?? I don't think she is taking them at the same time but, is it safe for her to take an adderall on occasion? She claims the adderall gives her more energy than the vyvanse so she takes it when she has a night that she is working late and so on.
1396846 tn?1332459510 ok well he did about a year and a half ago it was provigil, now that one I had trouble sleeping at night and I started feeling better so I stopped taking it then when I needed it again my crappy insurance wouldn't pay for it (it is very costly) It just feels so good to be here mentally.
Avatar f tn by Gerard T. Lombardo, MD (dewey decimal library system 616.8498) the author goes into detail about fatigue vs tiredness. "Distinctions should be made among fatigue, simple tiredness, depression, and excessive datytime sleepiness. The word "fatigue" is often used interchangeably with these other complaints and conditions but they are not the same.
Avatar f tn My son has been takiing this med Vyvanse for adhd, so I decided to take it to see if it would help me with my depression and anxiety, and it worked great, I didn't have any side effect to it. This is why I ask if its okay to take Vyvanse for my anxiety, right now I'm taking celexa but its not doing nothing for me anymore. I've been taking Celexa for the past 3 yrs and I think its time for me to change my meds.
Avatar f tn im on the highest dosage of vyvanse and its supposed to last longer than addorall but it seems to be working less and less...is that possible?? im sick of insurance not paying for this medication yet not getting any other substantial benifit from vyvanse, anyone else experience a increased tolerence to any add meds?
Avatar f tn He takes 50 mg of Vyvanse daily and was wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect with Vyvanse. Thank you.
