vyvanse

1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar f tn Im a 19 years old boy and i have tried vyvanse which did miracles at first at 20mg until the effect decreased and had to go up to 60mg with no effects except the bad ones and went back to my old self(lazy, tired, unmotivated etc.). I am now on concerta 36mg and it seems like working but not all the time and clearly not as much as first time vyvanse.
Avatar f tn 12 to 14 hours for Vyvanse and 8 to 10 for Concerta. Thats very close to all day coverage and not necessary. Second, they are of two different chemical classes. Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep.
1549092 tn?1297046311 I think you will find the information useful as it compares Vyvanse vs Adderall XR. Do make sure you also click on their ADHD link at the top of the page once you have finished reading. The site is - http://healthlifeandstuff.com/2009/07/vyvanse-vs-adderall-simple-vs-complex. You also might want to check out another very good site for adult ADD. Its has a different approach to the matter as it is all done with videos and was recently featured in a special on PBS.
Avatar m tn Vyvanse is just another amphetamine. All speed, or speed-like products, will produce the symptoms you had, if taken in overdose. If you have that reaction with a normal dose, then you probably do not have ADD.
Avatar f tn I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse. I would imagine that these annoying side effects will eventually subside with continued therapy w/Vyvanse. Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first.
Avatar n tn Is there anyone out there that can tell me are there any benefits to medication? I only ever read about the side effects and bad experiences people have with them, especially on children! I'm trying to decide whether to put my 7yr old son back on meds after 8 months on concerta with shocking rebound effects at night, which really took it's toll on us. Are they worth it?.
Avatar n tn My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
5757880 tn?1395578022 We probably won't go back to Vyvanse - he became a bit more aggressive and over-emotional when he was on it in the end. That is when they switched him to Concerta. The doctor said she was going to move him to Plain Methylphenidate (20mg / Twice a Day) but it will be for (3) times a day at 15mg. She is hoping since it's similar to Concerta it will work for him. They also mentioned taking the script to Wal-Mart and I wouldn't have to pay alot for it. Do you know if that's true?
Avatar f tn In addition, buPROPion can increase the blood levels of amphetamine, which may increase other side effects." from - http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/adderall-with-contrave-190-1645-3559-16891.html So I think that you would want to be aware of any over medicated types of reactions. Another thought is that weight gain among adults with adhd is common due to (they think) lack of impulse control. If the Vyvanse can control this the Contrave might not be needed?
Avatar m tn Like I mentioned earlier I am on my almost 3rd week of taking concerta and i hate it. I still don’t know if I am adhd but I am having the same problems as I did with the vyvanse. Severe headache and pain in between my shoulder blades. I have had a full cardio workout and I am 44 in good health and have no other problems than Hashimotos which I am not yet taking meds for when this is all over. Can someone please help??
Avatar m tn Hi, I take Vyvanse and it's doing the trick for me. I haven't experienced any of the issues you described. I have a friend who takes Concerta and she's never mentioned any side-effects to me. There are many different medications, including ones that aren't stimulants. Perhaps your Ritalin dose isn't high enough because it doesn't seem to be doing much for you. You should discuss that with your doctor. Take care.
Avatar m tn I started Vyvanse back in August 2010, and it was the miracle that I've been searching for. Over a span of 4 years, I've taken stimulants including: Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison. I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now.
Avatar f tn I am very healthy except for this disorder, but was seeing a doctor for medication, Strattera when I went on medicaid. Does medicaid cover Stratterra, Vyvanse or Concerta and other ADHD or ADD medications?
Avatar f tn I ended up putting him on Vyvanse 30mg extremely low dose and he has been doing fine. He has been taking Vyvanse for 1 year. I took concerta and ended up going off due to severe headaches. Also, just something that you may want to read is a book called The IQ Answer- Maximizing your child's potential (Family centered action plans to help children struggling with: ADD, Learning disabilities and low academic performance) by Dr.
Avatar f tn You may want to ask for a further evaluation from your Doctor as it would seem something is going on and maybe he needs his meds adjusting, he is on Ritalin and there can be side effects start there first and see what he has to say to help you, Good luck
Avatar n tn Now she is taking 40mg of Vyvanse. It seems to work as well as Adderall and has no GI side effects however, she now does this hand movement thing....its not a tick, and seems to be both voluntary and involuntary. Like sometimes she is aware of it but is drivin to do it subconsiously. She places her hands(both of them), palm facing outwards, to her mouth and wiggles all ten of her fingers rapidly into the air.
