My son who is 9 years old was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 6, we have tried adderall, aderral xr, medate, medadate xr and now have gone throught all MG of daytrana patch. He is also taking .2 clonidine at night to help sleep. He also has ODD, my question is what medication can we try him on now that will MAYBE help with both? We have tried the Tenex smallest dose possiblr 1/4 pill in am. And he just could not function.
It sounds like you're on too high of a dose for one. The second problem is that it's eating through your system too fast. I have heard other people talk about a lull in the afternoon from Vyvanse. I was on it for quite awhile. If you are having anxiety, it's typically when the stimulant is LEAVING your system when you're ADHD.
The key to treatment with stimulants is to have something to help you come down after getting a good 12-16 hours of coverage.
Vyvanse is metabolized differently, so could last longer in your system. It was done so you could not snort it like you can with Adderall. Adderall gives a stronger first "hit". V is smoother and takes longer to take effect so may not be as noticeable. Also the Dose of V should be 30mg compared to 10mgs of adderall XR to be somewhat equal.
Does anyone have any experience with using Daytrana for over 9 hours. My son is currently on 15 mg patch and doctor said ok for longer than 9 to cover homework time in the evening but still have concerns. any expereinces would be appreciated.

I use to take this and realized how dangerous it really was. Did you try Vyvanse? My 11 year old son takes this and has really works great. It may not work but it is definitely worth a try and straterra is so so dangerous and most of the time does not even help.

I know what you mean when you refer to Adderall as "that nasty, gross stimulant." I have been taking a total of 30 mg Adderall for about 6 mths now. It works great during the day, and has changed my life tremendously. I am able to complete the 200 projects that I start on everyday. But insomnia has made me it's ***** at night! If I could guess what a crack head feels like when coming down, the Adderall "comedown" would compare to it.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, not sure why he has chosen the "booster" vs a larger vyvanse dose. I guess I should ask him at the next appt.

He says that the other kids are saying things to him and the teachers states she has not heard any of it. With the Vyvanse he does not have the crash at night like he did with the Daytrana but he is WIDE open. Is there a medication out ther that might be another alternative. How about Stretara or Concerta? Any and All input is greatly appreciated.
extremely addictive, if abused. Ritilan, Adderal, Focalin, Daytrana are a few more in that class. He/she also added that they are an recovering addict, so I assume that they have abused, or are afraid that they will abuse these meds. Boots: I know of one that isn't an 'upper'. It's called 'Concerta'. My son was on it for a short time, but they bothered his stomach alot, so he had to stop. Perhaps you could try this one.
My son has been takiing this med Vyvanse for adhd, so I decided to take it to see if it would help me with my depression and anxiety, and it worked great, I didn't have any side effect to it. This is why I ask if its okay to take Vyvanse for my anxiety, right now I'm taking celexa but its not doing nothing for me anymore. I've been taking Celexa for the past 3 yrs and I think its time for me to change my meds.
im on the highest dosage of vyvanse and its supposed to last longer than addorall but it seems to be working less and less...is that possible?? im sick of insurance not paying for this medication yet not getting any other substantial benifit from vyvanse, anyone else experience a increased tolerence to any add meds?

If you have ADHD and a prescription - no worries even if it does show up. If you don't ....then this search showed that, "Vyvanse is detectable in urine up to 3 days after ingesting Vyvanse. Vyvanse is detectable in hair samples for months after ingestion. Though Vyvanse itself only stays in your system four hours post-ingestion, the active drug d-amphetamine stays in your system for 40 hours.
Just a couple of months ago I was diagnosed ADHD, and Vyvanse was prescribed, along with clonidin. I have to really watch my blood pressure now, because if I miss taking the atenenol, my blood pressure will shoot up over 160 really quick.
Is there any solution for people with 2 conditions like this where the medication for one condition diametrically opposes
the medication for the second condition ?
Would some other blood pressure medication work better than a beta blocker ?
Yes he is actually a great doctor, he has actually had adhd for 11 years and uses vyvanse as well and he knows from experience what could happen i am charting all my sxs as they happen and me and my husband will go over all of it when we go in.......the sxs last time started after lunch which was weird so I will keeep you posted on what he says.
My daughter taking vyvanse several months ago. I believe she is abusing the drug. How would she even do that? The pill is a 50mg capsule, now yes it can be opened and it does contain powder inside. But can you really abuse this medication and please explain to me how you would even abuse this medication?
